hello all :)

to all those women who have experienced these no periods for life. I am also. I am now 38 and have never had a period except by a fertility specialist a few yrs ago with birth control. I have tried the harmones. did not work. no explanation for this. finally pre-menopause. sooo many doctors. sooo many clinics to finally hear a diagnosis. nobody mentions thou the extreme anxiety and anger and mood changes we go thru. with our bodies all out of wack harmones blazing my poor fiancée lol. there is some hope. seek a fertility specialists. they dig deeper and investigate why u are not producing eggs. could be from kidneys too my doc says the egg starts there hope my info helps

Wow! I've been up late nights searching online to see, if there is a cure for this, or if I was the only one.

I am 26 years old and I too have never had a period. The only time I had one was at 19 with the help of birth control.

The odd thing is that, when I was 15, 16, and 17 I went to the doctor and had blood tests, and ultra sounds done and my doctor always had the same response. I tried different doctors and they all said, I was a late bloomer.

But while everyone around me was getting their periods I was dry, like a water drought. On part I thought it was an advantage, because I didn't have to worry about the "cramps" other girls got and the pad changing they had to do every few minutes or hours...but to be honest it always has worried me and still does.

I can relate to the feeling of embarrassment of being asked that question when you go to the doctor: "when was your last period", and you reply "I've never had one". It makes me feel odd especially when I walk into see the doctor and afterwards walk out, I feel like everyone is looking at me weirdly. I fear not ever being able to have children of my own, let alone I don't even know how I am supposed to tell my significant other.

The worst part is every month I get symptoms, as if I am having a menstrual cycle, my boobs ache and I get really bad aches sometimes in my lower area of where my ovaries are, but there is no blood to be shown to say it is a period cycle.I guess that little pain I get gives me hope, that maybe my period will come soon, or that at least some doctor will find a cure for it.

Has anyone else had similar symptoms?

I am so glad to know that I am not alone. I am almost 20 had not had a period so I went to see my OBGYN about a year and a half ago and he said that he had never seen a case like mine. I have normal anatomical development (healthy weight and normal breast, pubic hair, and ovary development), but my uterus is small, like many of yours. He suggested that I was a late bloomer. I took progesterone to see if I was able to have a period and was able to have one. My OBGYN said that since there was no reason for me to not be having a period so the best thing to do would be to wait and see if I ever started my period on my own. I did finally have a period a couple weeks ago, but I wonder how often it will come back or if it will come back. I am hoping that by the time I am ready to have children I will have either more answers or more periods. There is so little information out there about why this could be happening.

One thing to note is that just because you aren't menstruating doesn't mean you aren't ovulating. For those of you looking at having children there is hope, even if it is slim and I wish you all the best.

Thank you all for being willing to share your stories. It is so good to know that I am not the only one dealing with this.

Is there anyone else who truly was just a late bloomer who started their period at 20 and eventually had a (semi) regular period or am I looking at having a period every couple years like some of the women on this forum?

Wow I am so happy to see that there is others out there with this problem! I am now 23 years old and have never had a period in my life! I never really cared to start so I never bothered with going to the doctor until someone scared me when I was 18 saying I might have ovarian cancer so I went and it got it checked out had the Womens yearly PAP (even though I was not sexually active), blood tests, and an ultrasound the conclusion I got was that I had Amenorrhea and that I was just delayed... could be because I was overly active (I was a very insane runner) So every year after that I went in and had the same tests done... I quit running for a while to see if it would start and no such luck the 2nd time I went in the recommended birth control to kick start it but I am against taking something unnatural to start changes in my body that just sounds like a bad idea but cancer runs in my family and birth control increases your chance of getting a certain type of cancer... so i never took it... didnt see the point in starting this red hot minute anyway... well last year during my ultrasound they said everything was normal they could see the eggs in both my ovaries and movement and all... there was a few cysts but I guess most women have these cysts its just normal and they arent anything to worry about... I've gone to a different gyno every year to get different opinions... i'm getting ready to go in for this years and it looks like my regular doc is going to refer me to a previous gyno... well see how this goes... I recently started hoping for kids in my future and I will adopt but I would like to have at least one of my own to have the experience... I just hope one day soon a doctor will have a logical explanation for this... obviously its not that rare look how many of us are on here looking for answers... that doesnt even include those who havent seen this... I hope for everyone on here that we get an answer soon and that our wishes of some normality will come true... :-) Oh and when i started going to a Chiropractor he was stunned by my age and not starting but when they did X rays my bones were at a 17 year old level and still developing... so we may just be delayed...
