My daughters have both had exactly the same symptoms, tested for everything but nothing seemed to be wrong. Sometimes a bath in the middle of the night worked but that was about it. Always at night and random times occasionally fine for a few weeks or months and the. It would return out of the blue.

In the end we found out it was pin worms when my youngest ended up with the same symptoms and one night we spotted one. We medicated them both (soooo easy - 2 doses of medicine) and all cured. Just amazing after the last 18 months of it on and off.

I hope this helps others - we spent hrs traveling the web trying to find the soln but the few posts we saw about worms didn’t quite seem to fit. Worth trying a dose of medication to see if it works

Good luck and hope this at least helps someone out there

Just in case anyone comes across this post, I have been trying to solve this issue for my 10 year old daughter for about 5 or 6 years. Doctors kept treating her for Trush without swabbing her. We changed our approach following recommendation from a friend and went to a qualified nutritionist. When you tell the doctors you are doing this they scoff. Anyway, through this method we found out that my daughter has leaky gut syndrome. This is causing the vaginal and recital pain and the rash on her buttocks. We have started a course of treatment and are eliminating the usual suspects one at a time to see what foods might be triggering the issue. The other diagnosis that was possibly and could have caused similar issues was candida overgrowth. Find a qualified and reputable nutritionist, get a stool analysis done, it tells you so much about your gut health, which impacts everything else. I should say that I had tried all different types of doctors and they only made things worse, just treating the symptoms each time.

THANK YOU SO SO MUCH! My 6 year old daughter has been going through almost exactly the same thing as your daughter. Drs don't find anything on dipstick urine test and her constant sore ears & throat lead them to thrush due to antibiotics. And don't take us seriously. After yet another long night I went on to dr google and thankfully found your post. I bought the threadworm medicine & dosed the 4 kids & myself & hubby this afternoon. Everyone showered before bed & we checked them all for the worms...I got at least 10 on my youngest daughter using cello tape. Everyone else seems ok but may not be at same stage as her. Will be busy tomorrow vacuuming bleaching the house & doing laundry to get rid of these horrible things. For small things they cause a lot of pain & discomfort & also worry. Thanks again for sharing. It is much appreciated. Wishing you & yours a happy healthy life full of love & laughter x

Hello! This was happening to my daughter the last two nights and I had no idea what to do. She would wake up panicked, crying and shacking in pain. As soon as I read your post I told her I need to look inside. She let me with a flash light and there they were! Pinworms in her vagina! in total shock I told her we figured it out. I ran to store to get the Reese's pinworm medicine. Got it in her and she is doing better. I hope this helps anyone who is having same crazy symptoms. Your post saved me a lot of time and money. Thank you!

I hope this reply helps any Parents out there who is stumble upon this thread and say, OMG! That is exactly what is happening to my child! We just got back from the doctor after my six-year-old daughter has been experiencing the same symptoms as provided in this thread. Dr. says it is unlikely to be pinworms, given my daughter specific symptoms, and likely a UTI. But to be safe she recommended we give her a dose of over the counter and ask for the pinworms, and probiotics for the UTI. Plus lukewarm bath with baking soda. Just did a full dosage tonight, and will see how it goes!

Could it be threadworms. It's very common and easy to treat.

My daughter did this and I FINALLY figured out that it was pin worms. They come out of the rectum at night and sometimes they find their way into the vagina. When she complains get a flash light and look for little white thread like worms about 1/4 of an inch long. I hope this helps! If there are worms, there is medicine available at Walgreens.

I agree could be a yeast infection called Candida and similar pain discomfort thrush... a lot of it can be from eating too much sugary stuff in the day... my daughter is same at the moment and finds it hard to sleep in pain... I will try and cut down sugar and see how she does after 2-3 weeks

I have suffered from this my entire life. I am NOT saying this is what is going on with all the cases mentioned here, but it's the reason I have had pain like this. I was raped by a neighbor when I was 4 years old. I blocked out this memory for 21 years. From the age of 4 I started waking up with these pains. (I also wet the bed until I was 12.) What was going on was that I was having night terrors/body memories and woke up with pain. My mind would not let me remember these night terrors for years, and even now (23 years after the abuse) I will upon occasion wake up with pain. I had been tested for everything over the years, and all is medically sound. It's not related to my cycle or sexual activity. I started tracking other symptoms such as a tense jaw that would let me know I had been in the throws of night terrors all night. There is no medical explanation for my pain, but it is in fact real pain that I am feeling. They are 'body memories', similar to a flashback but purely physical. I hate to bring this up as it's a parent's worst nightmare. BUT... IF indeed something is going on, just talk to your children and look for other behavioral changes- no matter how small or unrelated it may seem. Please do not blame your child for being melodramatic. This is so harmful on so many levels no matter what the cause is. All you're doing is inviting shame and showing your child that it is wrong to tell you they are experiencing discomfort with their private parts. No child would willingly want that kind of 'attention.' If something is going on, making them feel like they can't talk to you about it or that it's somehow their fault they are experiencing pain is so damaging to them, and they will never feel comfortable telling you or anyone else if there is sexual abuse going on. And worse, they will actually believe it's their fault. PLEASE LISTEN AND DO NOT BLAME YOUR CHILD! This is NOT normal, and this is when children need you to listen to them- even if it's not sexual abuse-related.

Hi guys, my daughter suffered from this for years and we couldn't figure out why, and one sleepless night of screams and her hitting herself underneath I started trawling the internet.. It would always happen about midnight or 1 am after she had been sleeping for 4 hours or so.. Every couple of months.. Si read that if you go in the room, don't turn the light on and shine a torch there, you will be able to see a thread worm..only one if you're lucky.. They hide when they are exposed to light so you have to be quick, hence leaving the bedroom light off.. Poor thing.. Worms have a life cycle.. Coming out of the anus, laying eggs and going back in, but with girls they can loose their way and go into the vagina opening.. They secret a liquid which stings like crazy.. I'm convinced that this is what your girls have.. I used cotton wool and warm water there, and got it with a cotton bud.. It is extremely traumatizing for them poor little things..but the pain subsided straight away.. Then treatment from the farmacy for the whole family.. Wash all bed clothes on a boil wash and bleach everything in their room.. The eggs are microscopic and can get everywhere.. Best to repeat treatment every few weeks incase a new cycle has started.. I did that for 2 months and she then went over 2 years before it happened again tonight.. But at least I know what to do now.. Good luck girls I hope you get it sorted
