My little sister suffers from the same thing. She just turned 9 years old and before she goes to bed she starts complaining of pain. At first she said it was itchy and we would tell her to wash her self with cold water and no soap, but now doesn't itch but only hurts her. Her vagina and anus. As it was only at night we all thought it was an excuse not to go to bed but now she is waking up from the pain crying saying it burns or stings.. Sudo cream sometimes helped when it was itching but now nothing helps. Last night I wanted to take her to the hospital. We took her to the doctor and they said to wash with no soap... But it's seems to have gotten worse. Now we booked an other appointment to see the doctor but honestly they are rubbish! Please help me !!

Hello form Slovenia.

I am no doctor, I am a mother – excuse my English, I helped my salve with a dictionary! This forum is the only one I could find about this topic.

My daughter was 4 when it started in the middle of the night. Pain, screams like someone would have stabbed her with a knife. She didn’t allow me to touch her at all because of this pain. After about 45 minutes it stopped as it came – in a moment. It happened 9 times in about one year. We tried everything:

-          Urine and blood control several times

-          Genecology for children

-          4 x stool tests for pinworms

-          1 x some test with a sticky stick – I had to touch the anus area for the pinworm eggs

-          Vaginal smear

-          external genital swab

-          24 hour urine (urinary sand as for the stones she is to small)

-          Ultrasound of the abdomen

-          Bioresonance

-          antibiotic cream

Nothing of this brought a result. We never found a cause for this pain. I am sure that it was not psychological – such pain cannot be!! One of the doctors confirmed that.

No doctor has ever heard of such pain as our daughters described and suffered from - only one doctor from all of them said that he knows such kind of pain from little girls after operation, when they need to have a catheter in the vagina – the body wants to eliminate the foreign objects from itself and this causes contractions of smooth muscle – this contractions are than the reason of such horrible pain. But unfortunately my daughter didn’t have any foreign object in her vagina. We were really lucky that it has stopped after one year and did not happen again for a year. So there is hope for some of you that this can stop one day with no reason.

All the best to all girls!

Ok ladies, I'm just going to share a quick story with you all. I am active duty military and my best friend is a medic. She told me this story about a young woman who was experiencing problems to what you all are mentioning with your children. This woman was waking at night with sharp pains in her anus and her perinym area right below her vagina hole. It mainly bothered her at night, during her period, and anytime she and her boyfriend/ husband would get intimate. For almost a year she put up with these pains. She was tested for all sorts of diseases and cysts. It was to the point that it nearly ruined her relationship because she and her now husband couldn't get intimate with each other and he thought she was lying to him about it so she could put off sex or things sex related. She was sent to see a doctor in charleston and he was trying to look inside her vagina but as soon as he put the tip of his finger on her vagina hole she nearly kicked him through the wall. I'm not joking, she jumped so hard her foot came out of the sturrups and kicked him in the chest. He diagnosed her right away with an internal vaginal infection of the perinym. The infection didn't show up on any of the swabs because it wasn't in her actual vagina, it was in the muscle/tendon right there between her vagina and anus. The doctor told her it was a rare case but not uncommon more seen in younger girls. He told her it was from her hymen tearing wrong and not all the way, while it was healing it healed and set up an infection. They put her out, made a small cut like an episiotomy and drained the infection then put her on antibiotics for a while. The infection was so bad the Anti-biotics wouldn't work unless own so they had to drain as much as they could then let the medicine do the rest. She saw 4 doctors before this guy fixed her. I'm not saying this is what's going on with some of your girls but you never know. It can't hurt to look into it as a possibility. I hope this helps you all.

Hi,

My 8yr old daughter has been waking in the middle of the night with the same vaginal pains. It has been happening since she was about 6 on and off (sometimes it doesn't happen for months, then it can happen twice in the same week). I thought maybe it was from swimming, but it happens at other times also. We also changed to a more natural body wash for sensitive skin but that doesn't seem to be it either. No answer from Doctors (although one said it was "vulvovaginitis" but when I googled it, those are not the symptoms she is having - No redness, she's not itchy and there's no discharge). Sometimes a warm bath with 1 cup or apple cider vinegar helps (sit in for 20min), but what seems to help the most is a warm, damp flannel on her vagina and if it's really bad I give her ibuprofen.. Am hoping she will grow out of this sooner rather than later! :/

Hi,My daughter is 6 years old and has exactly the same thing. One difference is, is that she is red raw underneath (although that comes and goes). I have found that a homeopathic remedy controls the pain - Rhus Tox 30c. It's fantastic. She takes 1 every other day now and no longer complains of pain or wakes up in the night. Nothing the doctors have prescribed has worked but the last doctor I saw said that this type of thing is very common. She sees it a lot but because parents don't talk about it at the school gate as we would talk about other illnesses it's not a well known condition. She advised that there is no known cause for it and it generally clears up by the age of 12. Each episode can last upto 2-3 months (which my daughter's does). I'm taking her back today because I'm still not happy with it. Even though the pain is masked, the redness is still there. The one treatment that did really help was worming tablets. Unfortuntately it came back again. So I'm going to ask for that again today and because she has discharge and is a bit smelly if she doesn't use soap (baby soap) I'm going to ask for a tablet to treat internal thrush - so far she's only been given cream to relieve the external symptoms, which helps for a while but it flare up again afterwards.I'll let you all know how I get on. I hope the information about pain control is helpful.

Our 4 year old work up hysterical with pain in her vagina. She said her private area was burning and it hurt when she urinated. She could not pin point pain. She could only describe it as a burning pain. She has had a bad stomach virus (vomiting and diarrhea) and was previously dehydrated. She received fluids via iv the prior evening at the hospital. From everything I have read on the internet, it seems as if she is having muscle spasms in her vagina. The cause would be infrequent urination and the amount of time she has been on the toilet with diarrhea which exerted excessive pressure on her private areas over the last couple of days. She screamed hysterically and was in pain for about 10 minutes and now it is over. Humana nurse help line has yet to call me back after an hour.........although they promised it would be a few minutes to 20 minutes at the most. Thank you all for posting on these forums. We were so scared and about to take her to the hospital but she seems fine now. One mother suggested using the toilet by sitting on it backwards as this worked for her daughter. Pressure is different as muscles may be strained from diarrhea episodes. Little kids can't reach the floor and so the pressure is on their little bottoms only.

I just went through this with my 6 yr old daughter. Symptoms only occurred at night. It was definetly pinworms, even though she was never itchy. I checked her anal area and saw small little white worms coming out, a few found there way up to the vaginal area. It is very scary to see but read that it is very common and is easy to get rid of. Just picked up Reeses pinworm medicine from walgreens(over the counter), I am waiting on results.
