HOPING MY SHARED EXPERIENCE HELPS those suffering! After 9 months I’m finally cured! This site has helped me get through a rough patch just knowing others had the same radiating belly button (BB) pain down so I’m closing this chapter by this post. After seeing my primary MD who prescribed pelvic CT scans with & without contrast, bloodwork and countless other tests it all came back negative. He said I was an enigma and obviously I wasn't happy with that answer. I was desperate, I had an outtie BB for 60 years and never had an issue with it but maybe that was the reason for the radiating pain. So I visiting my son’s surgeon who performed successful umbilical hernia surgery on him. The surgeon told me I do have an umbilical hernia and he could take care of the pain coming from the BB but couldn't assure it would solve the pelvic pain. I was hesitant to have the surgery so I made an appointment with a local eurologist who said I have prostatitus and would give me pills but it would not solve the pain radiating from the BB. Not comforting answers from both doctors once again. Over time, the pain from my BB has increased 10x so I decided to get the umbilical hernia surgery. After months of recouping the pain in my BB did not go away. The surgeon said to give it time because the mesh inside the stomach repairing the hernia would need at least 4 months for the scar tissue to coagulate. The pain in my pelvic has also increased so I went back to the urologist and told him the pills you gave me had no effect. In turn he wanted to do a cystocopy even though I was still recovering from hernia surgery after 2-3 months. Frustrated again I asked family/friends to refer other urologist. I went to a practice that included 10 urologists so I felt much more comfortable knowing I’m in the right place. The new Urologist also said I had prostatitus and prescribed me a different pill he said should work better. Unfortunately it didn’t work either. HOWEVER, when I saw him he referred me to a UROLOGIST SPECIALIST who diagnosed as having PELVIC FLOOR DYSFUNCTION normally something women get after childbirth or due to some trauma but men also can get it due to some trauma. He prescribed PELVIC FLOOR DYSFUNCTION physical therapy. I had a hard time believing PT would fix this. Amazingly after 2-3 months of PT I am cured. Knowing what I know now I am not sure the umbilical hernia surgery was necessary. My life has taken a turn around after having gone through physical and mental pain through this episode in my life. I am very thankful a doctor had figured out what I had and hope others on this site will give them options to think about.
