In 1997 i had a starburst fracture of my L3 vertabrae from a motocross accident. 2 rods were used to fuse my lower back together with bone from my hip. I am having trouble getting my lower abdominals to tone because of the motion of my back. Any suggestions for exercises? I do crunches, but i don't think they're working that great for the lower portion due to the slightly limited mobility. Maybe I'm not doing them right because of that.
If you have difficulties doing crunches maybe you should start doing exercises in the pool, I guess this would be a bit easier for you and I assume they would be more effective. Doing so, it would put less stress on your hip joint and the buoyancy lets you move and exercise easier.
Have you ever been told by your therapist which exercises would be the best ones to do, I am not a specialist and don’t dare to suggest anything in particular except for the exercises in the pool, but still it’s up to and your therapist to say whether or not it is a good idea. If he agrees with it, he would then tell you what exactly should the exercises look like.
Hopefully I helped at least with the idea.
