Omg thank you so much for this information. I don't know if you will see this as it has been over a year. I am probably about 2 weeks pregnant now and I am freaking out. I stopped my Adderall for 2 days and can't function. I took it today as I was falling asleep at work. I am also a student. I am prescribed up to 60 mg a day if needed but I have only taken up to 40 mg whIle I have been pregnant. I will see my obgyn on Monday and sleep specialist on Wednesday. Hoping for the best.. thank you for sharing your story.

How did your pregnancy and baby turn out? Did you keep taking Adderall throughout the remainder of your pregnancy or did you quit? Hopefully everything turned out good.

What do you mean as long as it's in the first 6 weeks? I'm confused by this, thanks

I am prescribed 30 mg IR Adderall and am currently 21 weeks pregnant. I have done extensive research since discovering I was pregnant and have spoken to two OB/Gyns and a fetal medicine specialist and check in with them regularly so I'll tell you everything I can about what I've learned and what my experience has been. during the first trimester the fetus is developing all its major organs and therefore this is the period of time that it is most susceptible to developing physical deformities caused by outside pollutants. that being said, the first month is more like the "all or nothing" period of formation where anything that could hurt it will more likely lead to termination of pregnancy than any deformities in which case you may not even notice you were pregnant to begin with. though you had been taking it for a week or two after the first month, it's not likely to have caused any damage nor should you stress about it since ultrasounds and heartbeat monitoring will keep you up to date on your babies health and even if something is wrong there is no way to know what caused it (remember even "perfect" pregnancies end up with deformities and such sometimes and it is just too complex of a process for any solid answers). There is very little information about the effects of adderall on a developing fetus but the most common reported effect so far is preterm labor and low birthweight but mostly for women that took adderall well into the third trimester. there aren't really any solidly known physical deformities though with high doses, there may be a link to cleft pallet though this is mostly the case for women who did meth or cocaine during pregnancy so that doesn't really help women like us looking for answers. My baby girl so far is perfectly healthy, everything looks 100% normal and she was even a little heavier for her age. She is pretty hyperactive, though I'm fairly sure she would have been anyway between my ADD, my boyfriend's ADHD and ADHD running in both of our families so I'm not too worried about it. I have been mostly taking half doses (15 mg) twice a day but did often take my full dose throughout my pregnancy so far though i plan on weaning off before my third trimester to lessen my chances of preterm labor or low birthweight since that seems like the most likely to happen of all the things I have researched. every doctor I have spoken to has told me that by no means should I just stop taking my medication cold turkey since that is defiantly not healthy but I have gotten mixed recommendations from all of them on whether or not to stop taking it eventually during pregnancy since there is so little known about it. Adderall treats more than just ADD for me (narcolepsy, anxiety, depression) so all agreed that in preservation of my mental health I should continue taking it and work with a psychiatrist to find an alternative though the only alternative that the psychiatrist tried to force onto me were antidepressants and from past experiences antidepressants by no means guaranteed preservation of mental wellness and actually worsened it so I felt the safest route was to just continue with the treatment I know that works at lower doses for as long as possible. stress, on the other hand, is one thing that most will agree can definitely affect your pregnancy negatively so my advice to you is to have faith and don't over stress yourself. being healthy and happy is all you can do for your baby and hopefully they will come out healthy too :)

I was just wondering if you got off before or after you learned you were pregnant? TTC for 4 months now, 32 - not a long time but also enough to make think that maybe it's adderall? My doctor said -actual both agreed that until I find out its fine. It went stop me from TTC. Any thoughts on that? I mean, it's the chicken or the egg. If I focus on detox then my work will suffer and if I completely get off - it may be that it's just my body and I mess everything else up. Lol. Thanks in advance

A woman's hormones have a way of regulation during pregnancy, that being said, miracles can happen!

I am 10 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child. I am 29, and been on adderall since i was 10. I took adderall woth my first two what I'm prescribed which is 2 20 mg and 1 15mg cap a day. Both my kids are completely healthy, and this pregnancy is as well. Dont take more than you are prescribed. Its unhealthy for a women with adhd.to not take.care of herself during pregnancy. Getting.off of it most likely will cause stress on you and your baby. I stop taking it for the.time i.breastfeed, but other than that my.doctor says taking the amount.of adderall you are prescribed is completely fine.

Thank you for posting that I've been so worried but can't function at all without adderall. Im 39 weeks and my baby is at least 8 lbs and it looks like he's going to come late. (Induced labor) he's growing really fast so as far as premature and low birth weight. Not a chance. Im on 60-80 mg a day and still fatigued like crazy. If i don't take any I'm in bed all day depressed.
