Hi, yes its great watching dandruff fall, have you ever taken a photo of your "snow fall" in a dark room? The falling dandruff looks like ghostly orbs, as I write this my laptop is covered in dandruff especially down the keys. ( I wipe my laptop with an anti-bac wipe when finished with my laptop for the day.

It isn't just the dry flaky scalp that's the problem, it's why we're addicted to the behaviour and dealing with the root cause of the addiction. Although, it does help deter you from scratching if there isn't any dry flakes. I couldn't use conditioner on my scalp as I have oily roots and it would make that worse if I conditioned my scalp.

I was on the bus today and this old chap in front of me had dandruff stuck in with what looked like hair gell, i also noticed he had cuts in his scalp from digging his nails into his scalp, i couldnt help but pick a piece of dandruff out his hair, he asked what i was doing, he was fine when i explained what i was doing, we then started chatting about our common addiction. ive arranged to go round to his house tonight as he said im welcome to comb through his hair and remove as much dandruff/scabs as i want

I do EXACTLY what you do. So scared I'll have less hair or bald spots. When I'm laying on the couch watching TV and I have the urge to scratch I'll stick my hands behind me or under me so I don't do it. SO TERRIFIED TO LOSE HAIR! I have thin hair anyway and can't don't want it to get thinner.

Well just an update, I went round to the old guys house I met on the bus, we had tea and biscuits then I got busy on his scalp, I used some tweezers and removed quite a few scabs on his head, he told me to rip some off and not to be bothered about any pain I caused. I whipped a couple of so fast he didn't have time to register what I was about to do, 1 of the scabs bled quite badly, I sprayed some hair spray on the open cut and he let out an almighty yell with the pain, I did however place an ice cube on the area almost immediately, the calm this bought to his scalp was amazing.

I've had this problem since around middle school, and I'm 20 now, so it's been a good eight years or so.

I have the thing with pulling out big pieces and searching for and scratching off flakes until  my scalp is raw. I scratch at the pus scabs too, but it's more satisfying to get big dandruff flakes. I also pick at my acne scabs, my dry lips, my earwax, and my boogers. I eat all of this stuff. I don't do the snow thing now, but I used to. I did collect my big flakes for a while, and now I collect my blackheads and those little sebum balls from my scalp (they're pretty similar in appearance) and store them in an Altoids tin. Yes, you read that right, I have a pile of tiny little balls of sebum in an Altoids tin hidden in my desk at home. It's really satisfying to open it up and look at it and tilt it so that they fall to one side and pile up. They have a smell, too. And speaking of smells, I smell my earwax when I pick it out. And when I pick off my acne scabs, I collect them on a table and when I'm done, I sweep them up and eat them. I don't do that with dandruff, though. Dandruff I eat right away.

Really glad this isn't just me.

I like it when I find a large piece of dandruff with a hair through it, I take photos of my dandruff snow shower in the dark ( looks like loads of ghostly orbs) I also shake my dandruff on the pages of car mags I read ( I like to see what colour cars blend with dandruff, red is the worse .

I'm fourteen, female, and soo glad that there are others like me! When I'm alone, I bend from the waist, pull my hair back loosely, then I watch the little white flakes fall from my head as I scratch furiously at my scalp with my other hands. I would do this ritual at least 2 or 3 times a day. And, for some reason I feel cleaner, as if scratching my scalp off will make my scalp dandruff free. Sometimes, I scratch so much that my scalp has patches of bloody and red spots. Knowing that this couldn't have been good I took a visit to my dermatologist and found out that I could go BALD if I kept scratching my head. Also, he told me that scratching only makes dandruff worse. Now whenever I itch to scratch my head, I think of myself bald with bloody patches everywhere. I have gone a whole year without scratching my scalp.

Im a male of 40 years old, had my hair cut short today, the guy cutting my hair sliced off a head scab that had nearly healed with his metal comb, my god did i know about it, the scab snagged against his comb, although it was a quick action

Me too! Since I was about 10. Not a lot of dry scalp flakes but every 2-3 days or so it itches and after loosening the dead skin and brushing out of hair.... My scalp always feels better and kind of invigorated ... :)

I eat them too!!! Seriously :D It begans when I was at elementary school, I was 9. While attending class I scratch my scalp with a sharp pencil until suddenly the pencil gets stuck in some half to remove dandruff, then this make me scratch my head because it itch me and since teacher ask us to have a black covered folder I realise that many white flakes fall from my head so then I keep itching and shaking my hair and many dandruff flakes falled. Some day, I remember clearly, I kept 2 years doing that. I was 11 in 5 elementary, it was english class. My teacher stop class and asked me in presence of all my classmates: Hey... XXXX what are you doing? Nothing, I replied but a mate (Motherfu....) said: "That's false teacher, he is pulling over his dandruff" then he add "AND HE EAT THEM!!!" All classroom, specially girls said "ajjjjj"Teacher said: "disgusting". The truth was that until that date I never eat dandruff. That was a lie from that miserable. But I realise I had a lot of "harvested" dandruff flakes. Why waste them? So I use my little finger and sweep all the black cover of the folder so it makes a pile, my saliva began to appear in my mouth so I take it to my mouth and I eat it. DELICIOUS!!! It tatested like communion host (the one used in church). So since then I love to eat it, now I pull giant flakes and I picture them.
