Sounds like anxiety?!?! Who the hell gets anxious when they drink? Maybe during a hangover when the body is depleted of b6 and b12. This can cause a little more stress... where the hell did you get your medical degree?

I had the same problems with my kidneys. I had a kidney infection years ago that caused what I call a spasm that radiated from my lower back up to my neck. I got over that but many years later I started having the spasms again and also pain in my right kidney. I mentioned this to my oncologist(breast cancer survivor) and he said we needed to get it checked out. It turned out that I had a kidney tumor which turned out to be a renal cancer. Since the surgery I have had no more pain.

I think it is due to kidneys....

I have the same thing. Every time I drink any alcohol (it might just be a half a pint of cider or an alcopop) a couple of hours later or often the next morning after I've slept I get severe stomach pains/cramps and more often than not have diarrhoea (lovely isn't it...)

I've just stopped drinking it, but being only 18 it's hard to go out with friends and watch them have a good time knowing that I'm just going to be a misery all evening.

Well I have the same issue. I have had it for years. I have never been a huge drinker. I hate beer. I found that beer actually made it worse.

Sometimes in my case it doesn't even have to be alcohol related. Mountain Dew and Mello Yello have the same effect. Also if I eat too fast as a resturaunt while slurping down too many refills of coke.

My trick is, if I know I am going out say with a client. Whom sometimes look at you funny if you turn a drink down.

Drink a carbonated beverage e.g. a coke pepsi what ever root beer works well. If you have to burp, DON'T not yet. Take a shot of vodka or other straight liquor. Instantaneously my stomach will go into spasms. That burp you was holding back try to get it out. As soon as I burp the pain almost instantly dissappears. Also just do one shot. I am not a doctor but it is like some kind a hypersensitivity thing.

I may only drink once every 6 months. Sometimes I will eat right before and also take a shot of pepto to coat my stomach. I only do this when I know I am going to be out on a buisness deal and clients sometimes insists that come ol buddy have a drink.

It does ease the pain alot doing this and for the rest of the night I am free to drink. Anything beats that flushed faced, hot, incredibly painful symptoms as a result.

For the record I have been to a doc, had a upper GI scan, some other test where I had to drink some liquid for a CAT scan and some other tests. Everything looked good the doctors told me. Mainly becaus eit isn't just alcohol. Sometimes just over eating in one sitting. I am always on the go so I eat like a cheetah. Sometimes only one meal a day.

My doctor said it was probaly my whacky eating habits. He put me on Nexium and I tried a diet and to manage my eating schedule. It has helped a lot. Now alcohol is my only issue. Since I don't drink a lot it doesn't bother me. Yet sometimes I wanna have some fun when I get a chance and unwind from my crazy lifestyle.

Hope this works for some of you.

My mother could have just one sip of any alcoholic drink & she ends up with stomach cramps & sore red spots around her eyes.
I have recently read that this can also be a symptom of Non-Hodgkins Lypmhoma?
http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/pagerender.fcgi?artid=1010854&pageindex=1#page
I don't believe it's anything to do with stress - like some posts are mentioning.
If these symptoms are indeed connected to Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma maybe it's worth mentioning to your GP, rather than seeking answers on the internet & awaiting a reply I've noticed on these sites, some questions are without replies for over a couple of years.
I think a full blood count is whats needed to put minds at rest & if diagnosed treatment started asap.

I used to have back pain from inflamed kidneys after I'd drink too much for a few days and then stop.
I starting taking a Milk Thistle (Silymarin) supplement daily after my doctor recommended it and I haven't had any flareups since (and I haven't cut down the drinking)

Apparently Milk Thistle prevents the liver and kidney cells from the toxicity that builds up after processing too much alcohol.

It's a harmless herbal supplement so I've been trying it out, and it's been effective at preventing my kidney pain so far (3 months).

I have searched the web for something to help my symptoms or some answers.
After about 3 seconds of my first sip of alcohol, I get a pain/ache/stiffness in the back of my kneck.
Tonight, i was 1/4 of the way through a glass of rose, when the top of my lip in the middle became swollen like i had just been injected with numbing stuff, and it was all lumpy.
I remember once about 2 years back, I came in from a night out and really hyperventilated for about 10 minutes - but it was really weird and i couldn't stop! But it was only 'til recently I read that that is a reaction to alcohol.

Any help!!!?????????

What i was told is that your body can develop an intolerance to the alcohol with prolonged use,

therefor your body begins to treat it like an allergic reaction thus

your filtration systems ache your body aches for obvious reasons in relation the alcohol,

the cure there isn't really, if you want to drink still
Consume a lot of water to keep your h20 levels up in comparison to your blood alcohol level,

not the best answer in the world
imagine how i felt im 18

I have had similar problems with left kidney (mainly) pains. I had an ultrasound and after meeting the doctor he has informed me that the problem is that the alcohol has started to block my ureters to the bladder, the extra work the alcohol gives the kidney gives the pains, and stagnant water in kidney (which is not flowing correctly at all) can easily become infected. I am due (this week) to meet a urologist for him/her to decide if I am to have an operation to sort of the problem. I hope this helps others and I don't think no one else has mentioned upon the ureters becoming blocked (go back and have another ultrasound!)

It seems that many of you who can't drink alcohol on here are all fairly young as I was when I couldn't drink. I'd go out with my mates and they'd constantly take the mickey and try to force me to drink but I couldn't for several years. I had different doctors who told me not to drink until one day a doctor prescribed me with omeprozole. This was amazing and I found that as long as I took one omeprazole and drank a pint of water when I got home from the club, I would be fine the next day. I also found that different drinks had a different effect on me. I found the safest and most enjoyable was Jack Daniels and diet coke. When I drank lager or wine I would feel very ill due to allergic reaction, although you can overcome this by taking an anti histimine tablet which is basically a hay fever tablet (go for the none drowsy ones if I were you) So... I started drinking every single night, now I'm sitting in bed with my kidneys killing me scared stiff about going to the doctor. It is so hard to stop drinking, although I only have 3 triple shots a night and I don't drink in the day. Make your own mind up. I hope this helps... Jim

Ive had alcohol and kidney problems for a few years now and its eventually caused me to stop drinking. Originally it started where I would get some slight pain/discomfort in my left kidney after a night of heavy drinking over about a years time this got worse and worse to the point where the pain was unbearable after even one drink. Its accompanied by a cramping feeling in my kidney and some obvious swelling. Ive had multiple ultrasounds, cat/renal scans, cysto (camera up the urethra .. what fun). Multiple urologists have basically come up with nothing. They've concluded that it is a utero-obstruction but havent been able to pinpoint it and seem very happy to simply say well just stay away from alcohol instead of pursuing the actual cause of the problem. As a side note, an extra large cup of coffee will sometimes be enough to trigger a small to moderate amount of pain but nothing near what a glass of alcohol would do.

I have had spasms from my kidneys over the years when I had kidney infections. It would start low and go up my back into my neck. It would get so bad that I had to stop in my tracks. It would go away after treatment.
I had pain in my right kidney after I drank and mentioned this to my oncologist (breast cancer) at a check up last year. He said we needed to check it out. I had a MRI and it turned out to be a kidney cancer. I had the kidney out last year and am still having phantom pain on that side. Also there is a funny spasm that happens after physical exertion it starts low and moves up my spine. I don't know what that is. The docs don't really know either.
The urologist said to cut out the caffeine for the kidneys. I love cokes and tea.

Ok, so ive had the same pains right. but ive had them for about 3 years and ive kept note of the more severe bouts of cramps ive had.

Most vodkas(apart from the world renowned ones) set off my stomach cramps(doubled up in pain, sweating, hot flushes). ALL alco-pops set them off(probably cos of the cheap vodka). Processed apple and orange juices can set them off. The worst was a non-branded Ice T which i necked after training. It lasted about 40 mins(most last 20 on average).
Its like my bodies struggling to process something. All of these things contain high Carb contents(@least thats the common denominator on the labels, and the fact that fermented potatoes[carbs] make a russian beverage). Ive also had if when ive eaten a bowl of pasta just with a little salt on it. Ive had tests etc.

Anyone else got some findings to share??
