My husband was recently diagnosed with pancreatitis. He has been a heavy daily beer drinker for approximately 30 years. He had the shakes for about the first 36 hours or so but that has passed. He asked me this morning what the withdrawal symptoms are and if there was anything we could do naturally to help him through it. He has been a chronic pain patient for the last eight years and is currently taking methadone to manage his pain. He also has blood pressure issues and is on multiple meds for that including Hydochlorothiazide, Clonidine and Vasotec. What can we expect over the next few weeks and how can I help him with his symptoms, naturally of course. I would rather not add any other medications to his regimen. Thank you for your assistance.

I dont know what to say to you to be helpful other than ask a doctor or alternative healer. When my alcoholic ex husband was diagnosed our excellent doctor recommended the B complex with chromium to support the nervous system but ex did nt take any advice because each consultant advised stopping drinking. He couldnt find one who would endorse ten pints of beer a day.

He successfully rotted most of his organs and is virtually crippled with the illnesses associated with pancreatic disease. He is 45 years old. I would have done anything, paid anything beg stole or borrowed to make him well. But he wouldnt stop drinking. And because he couldnt cope he took us both to hell for years.

Your husband is very brave and very lucky to have you support him. I wish you both the very best.

Sorry for being so blunt, but did anybody ask for your story? no, they asked you if you knew something that worked...

People always wanna tell their sob story.

Its sad that there are people in the world that would be so cruel to someone dealing with such a difficult time. Shame on you.

I'm sorry to hear the obstacles both of you have & are facing. Sometimes just talking to a stranger is a great way to get comfort. I just recently took my boyfriend into the hospital for stomach pain, which turned out to be pancreatitus. Because of his binge drinking & daily beer ritual, the next alcoholic drink he has could kill him. He is only 24 years old. I hope that more people really would pay attention to the risks of alcohol & I hope more people will notice the signs of alcoholism before it's too late, I wish I could have. Good luck to both of you ladies.
