I know this is an old post here, but I just wanted to thank you guys for your information. Last night I had my fourth attack, and I could clearly tell it was going to be a big one. I came on the site, noticed the quantity of individuals who have relieved symptoms by laying on their left side, and tried it. I felt better almost IMMEDIATELY. For this type of pain, (I have been to the ER before because of this) immediate relief is something everyone seeks. THANK YOU!!!

...If they were short I wouldn't mind. Sunday's was 10 hours, and last nights was 5 hours +. I'm suppose to be going in for surgery soon, I hope!! It's been almost a year I've had them. I've lost 30 pounds, eat no fatty foods, lots of water, eat lots of fruits and veggies and they are worse now than ever.
I feel for anyone who suffers this.

It sounds crazy. But if I start feeling slight discomfort, I go to sleeping upright. If it persists I do a head stand! I swear it works. If the pain is reaaaaaallllly bad, just a head stand might not stop the pain but it relieves built up gas and pressure. I started noticing this with my yoga practice. If u can't do a headstand alone, use a wall in a hallway. Or log on to YouTube and find an easy five minute routine. Focusing on doing the poses distracts your body from the pain. My no. 2 natural defense is heating pad.
Last one is hot steaming shower or bath.

Just had my first gallbladder attack and it was HORRIBLE! My chiropractor told me to drink 1/4 cup of Braggs apple cider vinegar (unpasturized) with some water...just down it and chase with more water. this took my pain from a 10 down to a 6 in about 10 minutes. then I sipped on ACV with water with a little sweetner for the rest of the day and by evening the pain was mostly gone, just discomfort left...I'm telling everyone I know so if they ever have that pain, they know how to quickly eleviate it....

I have been having severe attacks for ten+ years and swear by apple cider vinegar. Yes, it's foul smelling and tasting, but I just have one or more shot glass sizes STRAIGHT (Try to hold it in, guzzle clean water and maybe a panadol or 2 and ride out the pain. It kills, for sure, keep taking shots of ACV periodically until you hear gallbladder movement and the pain usually leaves within 15-30 mins. It's only a few bucks for a large bottle and is natural - so much better than expensive commercial antacids and Z2 receptors/prescriptions like Zantac etc. which I tried EVERYTHING. But remember, as another poster remarked, it's mostly hereditory, (but fatty foods like lamb, coffee mixed with any form of dairy are usually a no-go,) but we are ALL different. and have different reactions and solutions. But I promise I'm being very sincere when I say Apple cider vinegar is a winner!

Thank you all!! I use HEAT, ibuprofen, and a TENNIS BALL in a SOCK to apply PRESSURE to the back. Hold the top of the sock to place the ball over the pain. Trust me I feel your pain.
