I had a medical abortion August 21. Today which is 5 weeks and 4 days after the termination, I have not received my period. I did have sex but used protection. Yesterday I went to my doctor's for an annul checkup. I was also interested in getting birth control. They gave me a pregnancy test to insure that I wasn't pregnant, due to not getting my period. Pregnancy test was negative, so I got the Depo shot. Today (September 29) I had an appointment with my gynecologist for a pap smear. A pregnancy test was given to me today to insure that I wasn't pregnant, test was negative as well. I got home around 1:50 pm after my appointment. Around 3:00 I received a phone call from my gynecologist office saying that they double looked the pregnancy test and it had a very, very faint line. I'm scheduled in one week to get the results of my pap smear and to take another pregnancy test. I AM FREAKING OUT. I don't know what to think. Could I be pregnant again? Could the HCG hormones still be there 5 weeks after abortion?
If you are still pregnant, I would advise against abortion. Usually women who abort end up regretting it in the long run. Plus, having and abortion is kind of expensive (it does require a LOT of money.) However, there is still help available. Go see your local crisis pregnancy center for advice on what to do with the baby. They are welcoming and comfortable places that have people who will counsel you on making the right decision. And, if you're still not keen on keeping your child, I would advise on adoption. That way, your child can have a bright future with a good family. Trust me, unexpected mothers who chose adoption hardly regret it and their kids turn out fine (I know because I actually know two young girls who were adopted. Honest) Just please consider these things before going to an abortion doctor. Rest easy love
