I have had anal stenosis for several years . It is the cause for non stop roids for me . 6  months ago I  had in a 2 month period 2 hemorrhoidectomys a month and a half apart . 2 large removed each time . It was so bad that I had 95% blockage , could not go to bathroom !!!!they were internal . I am one of the blessed ones that had little pain , quit pain meds after 2 weeks . From what I found , surgeons only know how to cut , have no idea what cause the problem . Finially got see a gastro and he told me the anus was not the problem and prescribed me linzess for CIC . Like most DRs , he would not listen !!!! I dont have any of the symptoms of CIC . I NEVER have hard and and lumpy stools , EVER !!! If I take a laxitive or get diareha I swell  shut and cannot even pass water stool , buy he said I dont have a problem down there !!! I am a male , 55 maybe 20 pounds overweight . I finially bought a dilator set and have used most evenings and it has helped some . I just wish I could find a DR that listens .

I had my done two years now and still having problems passing stool. My stool is about a quarter. With stool softer I don't know how I will survive. I have had two surgery to correct the problem but I'm still having problem going to the restroom. My advice to anyone don't to the surgery no matter what. I have regrets.

No. Don't do this unless you will die without it. Worst experience I've ever been through including both child births. Can't poop normally 3 months later. Has destroyed my quality of life.

What I do not understand is why physicians do not suggest dilators *before* suggesting surgery! My father was a physician, and he always said that you should try the less invasive methods first, and only do surgery if it was *necessary*, meaning that there was no choice.

Ten years ago I developed hemorrhoids (2) after giving birth. They were fairly typical, inflaming and settling down cyclically, but getting a little worse each time. My doctor suggested surgical removal, but my father suggested I try simple dilation 2x a week for six months first. The hemmorrhoids were irritated at first, but after a couple weeks of regular dilation they calmed down and have never come back since. I continue to use the dilators regularly, and am confident that I will continue to be 'roid free for the future.

Hi anonymous, I also experienced the same. I had hemorrhoidectomy last 2008 then 2015 I had anal sex with my partner after a day I noticed a blood in my stool and since then there's a blood in my stool occasionally. It's kinda bothersome somethimes.

Hi there! Sorry to hear about your discomfort. I will be going in next week for anal dialation as I have developed anal stenosis it has been 11 weeks sense my hemmroidectomy. How bad does it hurt compared to a hemmroidectomy? If I had known just how bad it really was I would have never gotten the surgery in the first place.

I agree!!! Do not get the hemorhoidectomy , the pain is like someone cutting you with a razor all day for the first two weeks and sometimes (like me) you are worse off. I am 5 weeks out and have developed stenosis.

I had hemroidectomy Oct 2017. Almost six months ago, from Oct to end of March this year finally felt some relief. No glass or razor pain when having bm. Three weeks pain free. Then bam. I'ts happening all over again all because i had a bit of a harder bm. Now my anus opening is so tight i cant even break wind. Im in so much pain again. Doing sitz baths and trying with no success to put some prescribed ointment up there. .anyone have any idea of what I'm going through? I cant take this much longer

Yes, If you gave hemmoroids pain constantly. I had a 4 th degree laceration upon delivering a 11 lb. baby. Tell your daughters to never gain more than 25lbs and make sure your doctor gives you an apisiotomy upon birthing. I had a hemmoroidectomy y 5 years after birth in 99 and another one in 2018. I now have anal stenosis. I am constantly required to take a laxative every other day. I have no other way to pass stools with a 3/4” opening.
