Wtg on being sober!
Hi I have a quick question this will be my first night night taking trazadonewill it take effect within an hour or sooner?
I do and I'm always tired, I take 75 mil, I've taken it for 25 yrs and I've been tired for that long.
I was worried that it would not be effective to sleep. Glad to know. Question..... How did you feel when you woke up.
I started with 50mg now I have been taking 10mg ambien; 200 mg trazadone for sleep tonight I plan to start with 100mg Trazadone;and 5mg ambien.Their was I time when only 50mg Trazadone worked for me.I hate constant vivid crazy dreams;and 24hr. a day and night constant buzzing all over my head.
I've had insomnia since I was 10. So about 27 years. I tried several different sleeping pills, bot hrx and otc. Nothing ever worked for my than 2-3 weeks. My dr was running out of option. I'm generally highly tolerant when it comes to meds and end up at the highest dose which still works poorly. I was not anticipating the trazodone working very well or for very long. But hear I am, 2 years later. It still knocks me out in about 20 minutes, I sleep like the dead. It is fantastic. I fully understand the frustration and mind numbing depression associated with insomnia. These saved a good part of my sanity. If your dr is refusing to give you a new script then you need to find another dr. At the very least she should be weaning you off of it. This is a depression medication with sedating side effects. You don't just quit depression meds, it isn't safe. Find another Dr. Seriously. A competent dr should listen to your concerns, and should never just pull a medication.
You shouldn't have quit cold turkey you should have had your doctor gradually take you off of it. Have you tried melatonin it's a natural sleep aid. Are ask your doctor about lunesta it works and i stopped with no withdraws.
I have been taking Trazodone for about 6 years now and it does help me sleep. I was on 150mg for much of the time and it was too much as I felt groggy all day long. I then went to 100mg and added a St. Johns Wort and it worked, but I still am not clear headed during the day. When I have trouble getting to sleep even with the above two I take a Passion Flower and am out in 10 minutes. The thing is the more of any of this stuff that you take the less clear your head will be the next day. Initially my problem was waking during the night and if I do now I go back to sleep fairly easily and get 8 hours. Valerian Root is another one to try but don't use it with large amounts of alcohol due to liver interactions. Melatonin has been used forever also but I don't take it. If you need something for the middle of the night you can keep a steeped cup of Sleepy Time tea in your fridge and nuke it. It contains camomile and you can get the Extra at Target.
Yes. I can't take zolpiden. It is too potent -
Try Trazodone - you will be happy. as it soothes you and calms you down. Thus, you will sleep great!

I too loved Trazodone for sleep it has been great! However because the drug interacts with so many other drugs and it is no longer working for me as it did, I have decided to come off it.
Tapering it over a month, I have already experienced the withdrawal after a week of reducing.
From what I have read from others it is not going to be pleasant. I have been on it for over 3 years...best sleep ever at first. Good luck

This combination works perfectly for me for sleep. I've been taking it for over 5 years. Wouldn't change a thing.

I also started taking 50 mg but was still not sleeping more than 2-3 hrs a night. My doc upped it to 100 mg and I'm still not sleeping any longer. She next had me tested f sleep apnea at home f 2 nights in a row. Today I got the results from my Dr & I have sleep apnea. For now she wants me to stay on the trazodone 100 mg until they can get my sleep apnea machinery delivered. I am 62 yrs old, why so late in life am I being diagnosed w this affliction?
yes, I take it and have found it to be quite helpful. took awhile for my body to get used to it, but ok now.
Hi! Did 50mg work for you the very first night? Or did you have to take it for awhile to see results?
