Hi! I've been using the Ortho K lens for about 4 years now(I got them in Singapore), i was about 800degrees in each eye. At first, it might feel a little irritating on the eye, but you'll get used to it. Now, if i don't wear the lens overnight, i can go without glasses or at most, a pair with 100degress power each. Treasure the lens if you do buy them, as the comment above stated, it is EXPENSIVE to replace. I've went about a month without wearing the lens before, and it stayed still at 400degrees in each eye. Which is a very good improvement from the 800 before.

Hello , your reply gave a ray pf hope that i too contact wear this as many sites and opticians have mentiones that ortho k lenses are suitable for only prescription as high as -6 but now knowing that you have dropped your point from -8 to -4 helped me to go for it. as I am also wearing -8 prescribed lenses and glassees which is a burden and irritating and also incresing every year which made me too depressed. Thanks but where to go for it. Singapore - its too far from Uk

We provide Ortho k lenses or iGo overnight vision correction lenses in the UK. The normal range is up to -5.00 and the maximum correction is -8.00 with 1.50D of astigmatism. It is a little more complicated to treat higher myopes and needs a very experienced optician. Things like pupil size, age can alter the outcome. The aim is always for 20/20 and we have a 8 year old girl with a prescription of -7.00 who gets perfect vision.

The effect of ortho k lenses are temporary and reversible. If your eyes are blurry it is because you have slept in a funny position and maybe the lens has moved. The lenses should be changed every 6 to twelve months top stop protein build up and warping from handling. In rare cases a slight amendment to the lens design may be needed. Any blurring will disappear ortho k lenses cannot cause permanent changes to the eye.

Hi, may I know at what price & which shop did you get the lenses from? I'm also from Singapore and I'm very interested in getting a pair (:

I have been wearing ortho-k lens for about 10 years. Occasionally I will have one eye blurry but its usually due to getting an air bubble. I can tell if they aren't set right. I have on occasion not worn them too sleep and I can still see the next day just not as clear as normal.

I was very skeptical when I got this for my 8 yr old daughter.. but am amazed how quickly she got used to it. We are on week 3 of the brand new lenses now. It costed us 1750 USD for the first year including lens and Dr visits and from the next year on, its around 500 for lens and year round visits. The doc will replace the lens if needed within the year also.

You can get Ortho-K lenses for anywhere, not just Singapore. Talk to your optometrist. They can refer you to an Ortho-K specialist or could perhaps do it for you. There should be many places in Britain where you can get them, try looking it up

Hi,   How long did it take you all who have used Ortho K lenses for your eyes to adjust during the day.  I've been using Ortho-K for a week now and I must say that I HATE them.  It's not the uncomfortableness that is frustrating (that would probably account for about 30% why),  but the fact that I still cannot see during the day.  My vision is even worse during the day when started using them.  I've still been wearing my soft lenses during the day b/c my vision is so blurry.  I can't see up close and things from far away seem like 3D to me.  I really thought these Ortho-K lenses would be working by now, but instead has made my vision worse.  I wear them for  7-8 hrs. a night with them.  Please help!

I m from Singapore and I m on 2nd pair of trial lens for my Ortho K lens. My vision is still not good, i started with 400,300 on my right and left eye respectively. Its easy to put on or off, but its not cheap to maintain, the 3 type of solutions u will need to clean the lens, the many trips and waiting. I tink the optic shop I went to in TPY is very poor in service. I had my eyes tested to arrange for the lens since Mid May and my eyesight is still nowhere near perfect.

Nevertheless I still do believe that Ortho-k lens is a better alternative to lasik..seems safer...

You need to be a little patient as this is a treatment and not the same as just popping on a pair of glasses. That said after about a week your vision should be good if you started at -3. It maybe that the lenses are not sitting centrally over your pupil and this could account for your vision problems. After a week you would normally see your optician again and this is the main check they would make using the computerised mapping equipment as well as do a sight test. So occasionally a new lenses design needs to be made up. we are talking microns of precision so if the fit is not exact neither will your vision be. The lenses should not be uncomfortable either by now. after a week they settle into the shape created on your eye and you could even wear them during the day if say for instance you forgot to wear them one night. I do wear them myself and I did find them uncomfortable and tricky to put in initially and did not think I would stick it out. I soon got used to them though and now I could think of wearing glasses or daytime lenses. Stick with it, it is well worth the effort. But speak with your optician.

I have just started wearing Ortho K lenses. It's been 3 nights to be exact and I'm already running into some problems. Getting used to the lenses was quite difficult - I haven't slept at all on the first night, but the next two nights got easier and easier. The eyes dry out significantly during the night, so I have to put some moisturising drops in them first thing in the morning before I even attempt to remove the lenses. The vision is remarkable and it lasts for more than half a day. But the main problem is that all of a sudden, after the 2nd night, my vision became very foggy. I went back to the optometrist to have this checked out and it seems that the corneas arereacting to the lack of oxygen by  becoming opaque. Apparently, the eyes should adjust to the low oxygen levels, but if they don't, I am not willing to risk my vision and I will have to give up on the lenses. It would be such a shame.

i got my lenses a few months ago and it was working fine. my right eye was 100+ and left 300+. my right eye got to near perfect very quickly, like within 1 week or so. but my left remained stubbornly around 100+.

but aft a few mths now i realized my eyesight is getting worse and there is glare at night. i find it hard to drive because its hard to read the road signs :( and my right eye is no longer perfect!

idk if i should go back and check out my lenses or smth. i have been wearing them religiously.. i hope my eyesight didnt somehow degenerate! would be so upset if i have to get a new pair :(((((

I have 13 year old twins in ortho k. Their myopia ( short sightedness) was getting worse very quickly so we put them in ortho K to slow this down.  6 months on neither of their prescriptions have worsened, they have stayed the same.  Both got used to them very quickly. Thye usually wear them every night.  One twin -5 both eyes had a drastic change within 1 night, perfect vision after 3 nights wear.  The other twin took 2 weeks to get down to near perfect vision from -3.  They're identical twins so a good experimental case :) decided I would research if any older people have had success as I would like to be without glasses and my prescription is still getting worse.

if the contact lens and my optician feel I am ok to try I will let you know the success for a 44 year old :)

Both twins say they could not imagine life without their ortho K and would Hate to go back to glasses.  Be warned though you get what you pay for so always see a profession who is a member of an authorised ortho k body.  They take topological maps of your eyes to ensure you get the perfect fit.

It is interesting that each twin responded slightly differently to the treatment. As a 44 year old if your prescription is suitable you can also have overnight ok lenses adjusted so that you do not need reading glasses or use monovision.
