Hi. I'm wearing Orto-K lenses for 4 years. About 1 month ago I changed them with new ones, because my eyes were hurting and I began to have problems with the light (photophobia). Unfortunately after I got the new ones the problems with the light were not disappearing. I can't stand the light from outside even if it's cloudy and once I had to wear sunglasses to look at TV. Did you experienced symptoms like this. Thank you!

Yes! I've been looking for someone with this problem!! I've been using these lenses for a very limited amount of time. When I take them out in the morning, I have to put a lot of suction on the little tool to take it out, especially on my right eye. However, it's very painful for me, probably because my eyes are dry in the morning. I don't know if you have this problem or not, but I just put conditioning solution in my eye before I take them out, and the works okay sometimes to get rid of the 'pop.'

My son is 10 and has been wearing them for 3
months and it's the best decision we have made. Yes it works and stops their vision getting worse. Now he can see under water and easy with sport compared to contacts.
He is responsible for putting them in and taking them out which he does with ease.

My 12 year old son has been using ortho-K lenses for almost a year now. So far so good (great). However after talking to friend of mine decided to do some more research on side effects of it. Finding out that ortho-k lenses can cause fungal infections and major cornea problems after prolonged use (10-15 years). I would love to hear from someone that has been using (had ) ortho- k lenses for at least 5 years. Please advise!

I'm from Australia and had worn orthoK lenses for 6 years until about a month ago. When I started I had mild nearsightedness -1.5 each eye and this hasn't changed when I went to the optometrist to test my eyes recently after not wearing my lens for a month to let my cornea go fully back to its original shape.
Over the 6 years I have to say the lens worked very well, I had good vision everyday nd they were very convenient. However I stopped them recently because I started getting blurry vision in one of my eyes when I removed them, and I couldn't focus on close things like my laptop screen. So after 2 weeks of that I went to my optometrist who told me my lenses have warped due to time. I haven't gotten a second pair just yet, and are considering daily disposable lenses for now.

Overall from my personal experience, ortho k lenses work very well and do what they say they do, but lenses can start to warp after a long time.

A similar thing happened to me. I went to an optometrist that did not know what he was doing. I wore the lenses for 2 weeks and this is usually the time when your vision should be corrected to 6/6 (20/20). I decided to try another optometrist and my vision was improved. I suspect the lens is not fitted correctly

Hello I'm Pascal from Switzerland. with Hyperopia (longsightness).

This is my prescription:

                        Cyl            Astigatism Degree

Left: p   +4.00  -1.25          122°

Right: +4.75   -2.75           40°

I found someone who can produce Ortho - K Lenses in Australia with this recipe but they said ist not easy. Has someone an idea if there's also an orthokeratologist in the UK who can do this? It would be really helpful to have an adress of one there, because that's in my distance. This is something which is really important for me, I would pay every price to get such a lense.

Thanks and Kind Regards
