Hi Dark Red,
Nope, we don't allow any vistors on site...only employees, there is actually guards at the entrance of our location. This is for the animals safety. Incase someone brings in some sort of disease or illness. Actually in several of the barns we have to shower in, and out just to go into the animals.
The animals get used to their handlers and caretakers, its better that way I think.

OK so I miss understood what you said. It is much easier for animals when they get used to you.
You have a really high measures of safety while taking care of these animals.
Have you had any problems with animals? Like maybe some animal tried to attack you? Or something similar?

Our safety measures are the #1 thing, but there is also a research lab on property and its a high safety level too. Its all precautionary in case something happened ever.
I haven't really had any problems since working here, other people have...but I'm pretty calm and laid back, a few of the other guys get a bit excited (I'm also the only girl working with the animals) the animals are calm around me, but a bit Jump with some of the guys. It all goes pretty smoothly though. We have had some really mean cows, but no one was seriously hurt. It could have been really bad if contact between man and cow ever did happen.
I guess I have had more close calls on my own farm than working here.

It seams like animals really like you. Other guys maybe don't treat them as kind as you do. Animals are really smart and in many cases they can see this. If you are kind to them they are kind to you.
You have to watch yourself with bigger animals. They are the once that can really hurt you.
What is your favorite animal over there?

I would say right now, my favorite animal would be the pigs, They are so full of personality and are very friendly and smart. They act just like dogs!
And right now, they are the only animal I don't have at home at the moment, We normally raise pigs but only for our freezer (sorry if I offend anyone) but its a fact of living on a farm, and us being human!

Well this is a fact and this a way of survival. There are so many discussion about this. I think that it is a facts that we eat meat. So if you live on a farm your main source of food is meat.
Pigs are not stupid at all and you have an example of it.
What did you learn your pig? What can it do?

The pig at work, just a young boar, he is penned all by himself, we took his litter mates away into a bigger pen. This little boar is going to be a replacement. he loves People attention, we go in the pen and he will come up to us, if we push him a little bit he will fall on his side and lay there for us to rub his belly and play with him. He Loves apples too, so I I worked with him for about 10 minutes on how to sit for an apple and he does it, all we have to do is hold the apple in front of him and he sits just like a dog, and will stay there until we give him the apple. Its So Cute! lol
They have named him Side Show Bob. All of the Boars are named...Mainly off the Trailer Park Boys, but this guy is special!

Animal research is fine if it is going to benefit other animals. Humans are not more important than other animals in the bigger picture. That is the thinking that will lead to our extinction, something that won't happen soon enough in my opinion.
if we ban animal testing then what are we going to test in on dead people! no we have enough animals in the world to keep it balanced! i say go for it keep animal testing! I mean if they are abusing the animals then we have a differenr subject but test in general need to be keep legal!
Like the Last poster, I agree. With a justified reason, animal testing is the way it is going to be. Its the safest and easiest method and as along as the animals are being well cared for and specifically raised for that reason its ok. Meaning the balance of animals isn't effected to much, when we concider there are breeding farms specific for research animals. These animals have one future and that is research, this makes the rest of the animal population balance as we aren't touching any of these animals for our research.

I'm quite OK with all animal testing in cases where the animal has volunteered to be a test subject, and knows what they are getting into.
Otherwise, testing should be done on human volunteers. Perhaps prisoners.
So many pharmaceuticals/food additives/agri-chemicals have made it through the animal testing regime, that later prove to be harmful.
Of course, the FDA guy that ended up approving them has by then usually got a better job, at a manufacturing company or research institute.
Where money in the volumes we are talking is at stake, I wouldn't trust anything the proponents for this practice have to say, frankly.

I am against it all the way. Test it on criminials for gods sake! Some people are clueless
