My daughter had a massive stroke sometime around the time of birth. It's her entire right temporal lobe. I remember the pain we were all in when the doctors told us. They also told us she would "probably" walk and talk. If you are going through this, please PRAY PRAY PRAY and love love love on your baby! God gives you exactly what you need! I am happy to report at 18 months old- no one can even tell my daughter suffered a stroke. She is right on target developmentally. I hope someone finds this post encouraging! If you have any questions...

I have a daughter who is 21y.o. she was an identical twin, during the delivery I suffered complications and my twin heart rate started decreasing. I was told that I would have to have a C-Section, sad to say one of my twins didn't make it (doctors said that my daughter suffered a stroke and was decease and had been prior to delivery. It still bothers me after 21 years. On the positive side one of my twins did live she has cerebral palsy and grand mal seizures. Although I suffered a lost, I am grateful that I still have my daughter. I remind everyone who have endured the same as I to continue praying, loving its the strength of us as parents that keep our children fighting at best...

Hi, my daughter had a stroke at birth and we were told she would not make any progress when growing up, she also favoured one hand more, she is now 7 years old, very smart, in a normal school top of her class. She however can’t use her right hand and is struggling some with her right foot, but otherwise than that she is perfect. keep doing exercises with your child, cause if I gave up, things might have not worked out so good for us. Good luck to you and your family, you have a long way to go, but with love and care and praier all will be well.

my grandson was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at 4 months, he favored his left side and kept his right hand in a tight fist. He is now 13 months old and just had an MRI that showed he had a stroke during birth. He started physical therapy at 4 months and it has helped him a lot. He can crawl and walk. Therapy has really helped him!

Hey , I'm sorry to hear about your baby.. I'm currently going through something similar but all the parents on this page are so helpful.. my baby had a stroke 1-12 hours prior birth and she had to have a cooling cap for 3days.. she was born on Christmas of 2016 , it's been 6 weeks and she is ready to leave nicu but to transfer to another place for oral therapy..doctors told me that the stroke caused severe damage to both sides of her brain and that she would most likely not be able to walk or talk or develop slow like as in cerebral palsy .. so far she is taking the bottle and physically she is pretty good and as long as the therapy continues , she should continue to improve ... to be honest I feel like the doctors are there to tell u the worst case scenario just so that any improvement will give u hope .. so just remain hopeful .. you will never know what to expect but remember that it's ur child no matter what , and they will always continue to amaze and surprise you .

Our son had a stroke during delivery almost 19 years ago. He always held his little hands in a fist with his thumbs tucked in and still does to this day. It was a left cerebral artery that damaged his right side...so he is left handed and very rarely uses his right hand. He has slight paralysis from head to toe on the right side. It hasn't slowed him down much as the body compensated in other ways. He is just finishing up his first semester of college on the deans list! Praying for you!

My son is six months old. When he was born, he had meconium aspiration, he cannot breathe, and he has stroke on left side of brain. I noticed weakness on the right side of the body. How can I help him?
