I had my gall bladder out a month ago and had horrible pains starting 3 days after.  Enough to take me back to the ER.  They couldn't find anything, and subsequent visits to my doctor, with testing, couldn't find anything either.  The doctor is still running a few more, but in the mean time, I have found that eating nothing but plain white rice with nothing in it is amazing.  I have had zero pain since I started eating this (about 5 days ago), although I WILL tell you, your brain gets fuzzy and you do need nutrients somehow.  I tried the Naked brand "Green" and "blue" drinks, or Ensure powder that mixes with water.  But hopefully relief will come to everyone who is still having pain!  Try cutting out everything but rice, see if you don't feel any different in a day or two.

I had the same thing. Gallbladder removed 12/31/11 and then around 2/10/12 I started having severe back pain, in between the shoulder blades, just like before I had the GB removed. I couldn't eat, sleep. I went to the ER 3X and had xrays, testing, all sorts of pain pills which none of them helped. After 10 days and losing 15lbs I turned jaundice and went to see my gastro who had been on vacation for 2 weeks (hence the ER) and was admitted into the hospital. I had an EDG done and they found a spinchter of Oddi dysfunction. The spinchter of Oddi controls the flow of pancreatic juices and bile into the duodenum. Mine seized shut after my surgery which is a rare complication causing the bile to back up in my liver and making me jaundice. Everytime I tried to eat my body would not break down the food like it should. So I had the EDG and the gastro cut the spinchter open permanently. I woke up feeling 100% better and after a week on a bland, non solid diet I was able to start eating normally. Now it's been over a year and since that sphincter is perm. open I do have issues with stomach pain and diarrhea if I eat fatty or fried foods so I have to be careful. What is funny is that opioid medications make this dysfunction worse so every time I would go to the ER and they would hook me to an IV full of meds it was making it worse! It shouldn't have taken them that long to help me and I was miserable. It's such a rare complication they generally don't even think about it. Hope this helps!

I just went back to surgeon who took my gall bladder out and he told me he thinks that's what I have. So im going back to gastro doc. What a bunch of BS! And there is so many ways to save your gallbladder, they never even give that option.

I know this is 3 years after your surgery but I'm hoping this will help others. Following my gall bladder surgery I could not wear a bra without being in terrible pain. I had emergency gall bladder surgery. Anyway, the surgeon told me that he had to cut the upper incision twice as large as expected because the gall bladder was so inflamed. I ended up off of work for more than 2 weeks. After a week follow up with the surgeon, he suggested I put gauze on it but I had an allergic reaction to the medical adhesive on the tape. So I went bra less for most of the time but... I need to wear a bra to work or outside of the house. I don't find sports bras to be supportive. When I do wear a sports bra, it is too little & over top of my regular bra to keep "uniboob" from happening. My best solution has been to take a clean, small, square pot holder, fold it diagonally into a triangle shape & place it under the wires. Very much more comfortable & there is no need for sterile gauze as the wound is mostly healed. However if your wound is not healed enough put a clean pad between you & the pot holder.

I had my GB removed 3 weeks ago, all is well except the pain in my back, I thought by now it would be gone but it is still there, it is painful when I press hard on the right side of my back and then that constant pain there especially when I stand to long.

I found this site a few months ago after I too began to experience this horrible back pain that everyone else is speaking of. My intuition was telling me that the doctors would probably find nothing wrong which was the case. After MRI's etc, the doctors then wanted me to go to a back doctor which I didn't. I want to share with all of you something that happened that has helped.

After about 5 months after my surgery I was in intense pain most of the time. Taking pain killers daily and not being able to stay on top of my work (I am a general contractor) because of the inability to move very well. I am 50 years old, but have usually stayed pretty healthy and limber.

My partner and I had gone out of town for a weekend with some friends, and the day after we returned I noticed that I had very little pain. I re traced the events of the weekend to try and figure out what I had done differently. I thought about it for a couple of days and I remembered that we went out to a club and I had danced with my friends. A little booze and a vicadin helped make that happend. I remembered that towards the end of the evening that there was a dance everyone was doing where they were jumping straight up and down. I thought to myself oh lord I can't do that. But I tried it and I did.

After that weekend getaway and being home for a few days the pain started to come back and I thought to myself I wonder if the jumping up and down had anything to do with the pain being gone. So I tried it. I started doing jumping jacks. 15 at a time a few times a day. I know it sounds really silly, but it is working. I have alomst no pain today and have not had to take a vicadin in weeks. When I first start to do them it hurts, but after just a few the pain start to dissolve.

I don't know what any of this means except that it is working and I wanted to share it with all of you since it sounds to me like we are all experiencing the same thing, since all of our stories are so similar.

Best of luck to all of you

Hello I just had my gall bladder removed 1/17/2014 and I've been having lower back pain daily. Those I talked to have not experienced this at all. I'm very concerned about it. I know gall bladder and pancreas works together. Im going to wait for my follow up but I want them to check my pancreas as well because it causes lower back pain and I've known of a couple of individuals who had low back pain for a while later to find out they had pancreatic csncer and they are no longer with us because it's a fast spearing disease. If anyone has had the lower back pain after having their gall bladder removed please speak up
