I had mine removed a week ago as my gallbladder was gangrene and had stones the size of birds eggs.. the surgeons words not mine.. however I have had horrendous pain in my back where my kidney (right hand side) and most of the gas which was due to my stomach been blown up has gone.. To be fair, with the amount of antibiotics injected, there is no way I can have an infection.. so the big question is, what is this pain.. I keep telling myself that it's just bruising.. I hope this pain goes as I'm about to be a living kidney donor so I don't really want my remaining kidney to be one which gives me pain for the rest of my life..

Worst back pain ever. Three days after total gallbladder removal and my back is on fire! Whole central upper back is in constant agony and I can't sleep / find myself slumping over my bed onto a large cushion for slight relief. My back is actually hurting much more than my stomach. Surely this isn't right? Before my op I had slight sickness - if I knew I would be on morphine and have a complicated op - I'd NEVER have had it done! If you're not suffering with your gallstones that much then I'd advise you not to go for the operation!!

did you ever figure out what caused your back pain? I was experiencing some back pain prior to gall bladder removal but felt better maybe a week prior to surgery. Right after I woke up from surgery, I immediately felt several back pain on my upper right side. What could it be?

I had my gall bladder removal surgery five days back. The previous night i had severe stomach pain and so had to rush to emergency. Ecen though i had some back pain it was less compared to the stomaxh pain. After the surgery now, i feel the stomach pain has gone but thr back pain is still there. Especially when i try to lie down at night. I have tried with pillow, without pilllow, nothing works. I am being positive now and assuming this is from the surgeryand will go away in few days.

After 2 days of experience i am starting to think that backpain is related to stomach bloating and discomfort. Because for the last 2 days i have been eating 8-10 small meals instead of large meals and i think i am doong good. Infact i also had indian spicy food and a piece of cake in small portions though. Not sure if this will sustain but with just 7 days since my surgery this gives me confidence that i should be able to get back to routine diet shortly

Reporting again after 20 days: I dont have the back pain anymore. I realized that the pain was associated with the content food i take. So i reduced my diet almost 60%. Now, i am almost normal diet. I tried pizza, beer, wine, little spicy foods, cheese, 2% fat milk, coffee, soda, some oil fried stuff, restaurant food including chineese with soya sauce. Well, i did have some bloating and stomach upset with stomach full of chineese food with lot of soya sauce. But i realized, Everytime i eat, i need to make sure, i dont eat till i feel i am full. Then, i will be fine. I hope this helps others. If not for all, atleast for some.

I had a bad experience when I had my GB removed too. Sounds like you might have loose stones still there. They found 3 loose stones in my bile duct in the liver area and they found them with a MRCP scan when the MRI didn't show them. Good Luck!

Chill out. It's nothing too serious. Quick fix for ya. Go to Rite Aid n get u some Ebsom Salt. Not the Fragrance Ebsom Salt. The Regular Ebsom Salt that says u can use as a Saline Laxative. Pour 3table spoons in a glass of warm water until it desolves n chug chug chug. What it is is stones still in ur Bile Ducks n Liver n Pancreas. U wanna keep doing this everyday until u clear them all out. They'll empty into ur small intestine. N Bam!! Pain will go away n u will live a normal life finally.
