I just Googled back pain when drinking. I just slammed a pint of liquor. It's not the first time I experienced this.

My hypothesis is that I am so high strung that when I slam alcohol all my constricted back muscles relax all at once. The pain comes from the weaker back supporting the other back muscles that needed a rest.
Or the strongest were so tight that relaxing hurt. I am drunk. My back feels better now. It's only when I slam alcohol and for a short time.

I'm 38 and this has been going on since I was about 18 lol. I noticed that if I drank a mix sugary fruity drink, i get excruciating back and neck pain. It took years for me to figure out that for me as an individual, it the "fruity" part that is the problem. My solution, tequila (no training wheels) and captain Morgan lol. Those are the the 2 alcohols that do NOT give me any pain. My friends and even husband think I'm crazy, but I know my body, and those liquor do not cause me any pain. Who wants to be in pain when they drink !

I also get the upper back pain when I drink those fruity drinks like Malibu rum or even wine coolers!

Wow you have the exact same thing as me and I'm trying to figure it out as well! I also have back issues and scoliosis and when I drink my upper/middle back hurts so much that I'm almost crying! So far I have found no reasons for why and I also get the "you're crazy" look from people when I say that!

Yes, I'm having an episode right now, I can't even move to get dressed for work. smh I had a bottle of wine yesterday and was out of commission last night. I popped a motrin and a Narco 5 last night thinking I would be okay this morning and now I can barely move out of this one sitting position. This happened a few times and I usually just take pills drink plenty of water and let the pain ride out (suffer). But omg, there's nothing like this feeling I slept on my back scared to move the whole night but I had to urinate every friggin five minutes cause I drank so much water trying to flush my kidneys... I have searched hi and low for an answer been to the hospital and all and I still haven't got a clue to what this is. We all probably need to just lay off the spirits.

I have lower back pain a day or two after consuming whisky. Only whisky does this to me. Kidney and liver tests are always normal. Does anyone else experience this or know why only whisky does this to me?

I, too, have this problem. Now that I've started treatment it's not as bad. My problem was first discovered after a water main break and I ended up with about 16 different bad bacteria throughout my digestive tract. Well, doctors treated those and then I felt okay, but I took a turn for the worse when the doctor kept telling me "Oh, you have IBS-C." I thought to myself if I have IBS-C, I could take a laxative to help me go to the bathroom. Three months passed and I couldn't eat or go to the bathroom. Well after seeing a GI specialist and going through 6 scopes, it was determined that IBS-C was not the culprit. My uncle then got me in to see a natural doctor who then used an acupressure probe to view exactly what was wrong. It turns out I have parasites (bad ones...because we all have parasites but these were harming me) living in my intestines. I was then put on essential oils and supplements to help my intestines to do their job until I gained muscle back so I could then go to the bathroom without the help of a laxative. My advice is to make sure that you can tolerate the ingredients of the alcohol you drink, but also talk to your doctor to see if there is an underlying problem that you don't know about.

I have drank steadily since I was 15 or so and began having back pains in the middle right side of my back about 5 years ago. They would come on in the middle of the night and resolve themselves in the morning. I didn't make the connection until recently, but it seems that the pain is related somehow to my digestive tract. Drinking seems to impair my body's ability to digest food properly, and some days I won't take a dump or if I do the dump is pencil thin and comes out in pieces. I think it may be related to my pancreas (chronic pancreatitis) or possibly an obstruction from the gallbladder or Colon.

I have had this always.  I finally found out why.. Some people are unable to process the toxic waste products through their liver efficiently enough.  The build up of toxicity and it spilling into your bloodstream are the things that make the upper back hurt and stomach burn.  So, I would recommend using it as a gauge of whether and how much you can safely drink before you start poisoning yourself.

Your comment is the only one I can relate to . I have to get through 20 to 25 minutes of this severe pain and then it leaves for good . My experience relates to what feels like heart burn but in my back . Excruciating pain that o have never understood.

I have the same issue, at the age of 36, it has been happening for the last 2 or three years. I used to drink a little heavier in my 20s, but now I have significantly reduced my intake, to about a glass or two of wine once every six months. I refuse to drink due to the symptoms I have during and after drinking, the pain is severe, and I am one who is very very tolerant of pain.
