I am a young 30 yr old in great physical shape. I work out and run about 10 miles a week. I have been suffering from post menstrual headaches for most of my adult life. Medication (when take correctly) is the ONLY thing that gives me relief from these symptoms. Key is, take Excedrin at first indication of a headache, drink lots of water, and keep stress out (if possible). Medication works, used as directed, not everytime you have a minor ache/pain. Otherwise it will lose effectiveness when consumed frequently.

I know your post is from a year ago, but I just read this. I like you am in my late 30's, never had odd dizziness until the last year. I also had a head injury (5 years ago), but as severe as yours. My dizziness seems to come at almost the same week of the month every month. Doctors have not been able to help me get rid of the dizzy spells. I've seen an ENT for Meniere's (I have other ear symptoms sometimes too), but nothing has given me an accurate diagnosis or treatment. I am suffering from bouts of anxiety, but still functioning fine except for when the dizzy spells occur. When they happen, it is intense. I don't want to drive, I feel miserable and have a brain fog feeling similar to how I felt after my head injury. I have no idea what is causing this, but I am extremely curious as to why it seems to always happen around my period. I have two young children, this all started after the birth of my second baby about 2 years ago.

I agree. I have been keeping up with things I have changed trying to narrow down what causes my headches. Mine are either before or after menstrual and when im more active and also cut out chicken that was raised with growth hormones I dont have the headaches.

I have had the same headache usually on the last 2 or 3 days of my period. This last time it was so bad I was willing to try anything so I remember reading that exercise works so at 2am I went for a run and walla.... It was gone but returned 24hrs later. Unfortunately now I am too pained up from the run to do it again :) so I prayed and low and behold, the pain is gone. So I have found two remedies, exercise and prayer.

Have they tested you for vertigo.
Vertigo is a feeling that you or your surroundings are moving when there is no actual movement. You may feel as though you are off balance, spinning, whirling, falling, or tilting. When you have severe vertigo, you may feel very nauseated or vomit. You may have trouble walking or standing, and you may lose your balance and fall.

You could have vestibular migraines. They happen near your ear and make you very dizzy. I would also check your irin levels.

Hi! I am having the similar problem, it took me a while to understand the pattern. Since I remember, I am having these headches for last 5 years. I don't get it every month. Sometimes it comes back to back after every period and sometimes it will give me a break for one or two month. But it is horrible....unbearable...nausea..dizziness...sleeplessness....I have observed mine only starts from one side of forehead specifically over one eye and gradually runs to the next and then fades away. But it never happened that it started one side and boom disappeared..:-( ..my doctor has diagnosed it as a sinus problem in the begining then hormonal...I am really worried that if hormones are creating this, where it will end and why not everywomen is facing such issues. I don't find any medication perfect for this. My pcp has given me something that was causing sleepy all day long wasn't the solution of headache and she told me I am getting i t Becoz of lack of sleep during periods though I don't agree. But I really don't want to eat anything during this time.

I am 18 years old, I have suffered from post menstrual migraine for a year and a half. I get them a few days after my menstrual cycle. My migraines would send me to the hospital in pain every time. I have tried almost every drug you could think of. Nothing seems to touch my migraines. I was given birth control pills to help control my period, they wanted to stop my periods in hopes to stop the migraine. I have gotten several rounds of Botox. I have also received an Occipital nerve block as well as a Cervical nerve block. I then I went to the Michigan Headache and Neurological Institute after visiting many different doctors and hospitals. I was put in their in patient clinic. I was given a spinal tap and got a spinal headache, I then got a blood patch. I haven't gotten a migraine since, 7 months without one. However now I am dealing with memory problems, painful and sporadic periods. I have a feeling it is due to taking topamax, a pill that caused me to have the worst side affects. I stopped taking it after a few months. However I haven't felt the same since. I suggest you go to, if possible go to MHNI, it helps patients all over the world, and the doctors are incredible. The way they treat their patients is amazing, what they do works, it really works and it is amazing. They don't give up on finding you relief. If you have any questions about my story feel free to reply to my post I want to help others like me! Migraine is a horrible and serious disease and I hope that you can find some relief!!

I have been suffering from this since my early 20's and I am now 36. It has been worse at times and better at times.. When I was on the pill they were absolutely violent and I always vomited. If you're on the pill is seriously consider going on a non hormonal birth control, I switched to a copper iud and noticed a difference right away. I never got one when I was pregnant and that was awesome but they came back after I started my period again. Every month on the last day or two after my period there it is. I've tried everything. Advil doesn't work anymore and neither does regular Tylenol. Sometimes the Tylenol with caffeine works but lately I've had luck with robaxicet with the muscle relaxer. Sometimes I take Tylenol night just to help knock me out because sometimes sleep is the best cure.
Good luck. You're not alone it's brutal I know it.

That's perimenopause my friend. I am 37 and since about 2 years + have been experiencing it going on and off but the last 3 or 4 months, has turned more frequent and durable. Also have noticed that since I began with a natural breast enhancement program with Pueraria mirifica, it has worsen a lot. Unfair nature to us women...

Those are definitely migraines, you need to see your doctor. I am on a generic Imitrex and it works wonders. Hormonal migraines are much more common than most people realize.
