i would like to inform everyone that strep throat is a virus antibiotics wont help, what antibiotics will do though is clear up the bacteria in the throat caused by strep throat
Strep throat is NOT a virus. The reason they call it strep throat is because it is caused by streptococcal bacteria.
Strep sore throat is caused by the group A Streptococcal bacteria, particularly Streptococcus pyogenes. There are cases where someone may have a sore throat caused by a virus, but if you're labeling it "strep," it is NOT a virus. I just wanted to clear that up.
My Microbiology professor would be proud of me in this moment...
If you are going to post in here make sure your information is correct! Look up anywhere and it states the Strep is NOT and virus it is bacteria. Antibiotics work great. It all depends on what antibiotic works better for you. Some people amoxicillin may work better than omnicef or the other way around. Growing up i used to get strep all the time and amoxicillin worked every time. I have now had strep for 5 days now and the amoxicillin isn't working. The Dr just put me on omnicef. When taking antibiotics alot you build a resistance to it and it won't work!!!

A 500 mg or 250? for zithromax?
Zithromax is good the thing that didnt work for me was amoxicillin it had no effect so they put me on zithromax and it worked i always get infections including strep and sinusitis and they have to give me antibiotics all the time i hate my infections i get they are so annoying penicillin vk also worked i thought that was strange because it is in the same class as amoxicillin
It depends on how your body would react to the medications you are taking. I have a strep throat a year ago and my doctor prescribed me Azithromycin for 3 days. Other known drugs that cure strep are Cephalexin and Clarithromycin. However, you need a prescription in order to obtain these drugs.
I had strap throat on almost all of my illness Amoxcilin work fine and then doctor decided to give me Zytromax. That didn't took away my problem because I finish that pill and I still felt sick like a dog.
