Yes I have Had this issue. I also went threw all the tests you have. They swore I had a kidney stone, but when they used the scope They found nothing. I was never in any pain. It is still a misterey as to which kidney. I moved out of the town we lived in and my bleeding stopped over night. We think it was the clorine in the water. that is only thing that changed. You do not mention if you have any pain.Did you injure you kidney, or fall. I hope this has helped. Do you drink tap water. I went threw this in the year of 2000, the end of winter. I had an athletic build, for the most part I was healthy. no reason for it. see what happens when you change water. do you have any allergies. I was 41 when this happened. It has never been diagnosed. I hope there is info here you can use. I pray you will be ok.
i agree with AlannaWilson if your doctor is clueless you should go for a second opinion. Have you done that yet? will your insurance allow it?
I just read all of the posts here and would like to add my two cents worth in hopes that it will help a couple of you with some of your problems. I have had the same problem as most of you for almost two years now with no solution yet.
One of the things I wanted to mention was that I had a 20 year problem with kidney stones. I had passed over 30 stones within that period and was treated by several different doctors. None of them was able to figure out how to stop them. After I had my last one I had an elderly lady tell me to drink a glass of apple cider vinegar mixed with honey very day for a week and then cut it down to once a week.
I followed her advice and the stones went away for two years. At that time I ended up in the ER with what I thought was a kidney stone but it turned out to be my first case of urinary tract infection. I told the doctor about the apple cider remedy and he said he had never heard of that before but that all I had to do was take vitamin C. I thought it was kinda strange that they let me suffer for over 20 years before they suggested the vitamin C.
I haven't had a kidney stone now for over six years but I have had quite a few UTI's. I was having one just about every six months. I had Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and went through chemotherapy and 17 radiation treatments and was told by the doctors that the UTI's could be a result of the chemo.
I went to a specialist to figure out why I was having so many UTI's and when he did a cystoscopy of the bladder he detected a spot in my bladder that turned out to be the very early stages of bladder cancer. I also had an enlarged prostate that I was taking medication for. The doctor gave me a TURPs procedure on the prostate and then cauterized the prostate and also the spot in my bladder. That got rid of the cancer and also made my urine flow a lot better but I could not get the bleeding to stop.
I asked the doctor if the blood could be coming from the kidneys but he said no and was sure that it was the prostate. I had two more cystoscopies and he noticed that one of the blood vessels in my bladder was bleeding so he cauterized that and the bleeding stopped for five weeks.
Two years ago, when the bleeding first started, I had lifted several 40 pound sacks of salt and did some yard work and that is what triggered the bleeding. After the bleeding stopped for five weeks I lifted several bags of salt again and that afternoon the bleeding started again. The doctor told me that radiation treatments can make the blood vessels in the body weaker and could cause them to rupture when doing strenous work.
My blood tests always turn out good with every thing normal and no signs of cancer. I also had two different CT scans in a two year period. The first one showed that I had two cysts in one kidney and one cyst in the other kidney. The second CT scan showed there was no signs of cancer and that the cysts had not grown much at all and they were no concern. He also said that cysts in the kidneys do not bleed.
A couple of months ago, after 18 months of continous bleeding and clotting the doctor did another cystoscopy. Every thing looked good but he did notice blood coming from the kidneys just as I had suspected from the beginning. Thats when he referred me to another specialist.
When I had the chemo six years ago it also damaged my heart and I had to have a pacemaker defibrillator installed. I can still get around and do light work but I have to pace myself. I am 71 years old and the past six years have taken a toll on me but I am slowly getting my strength back.
A couple of the posts mentioned that they have had this problem for 8 to 10 years. I am at the point now that I know that I don't have a lot of time left but that I don't want to spend what little time I have left having these people do their experiments on. I like to fish and do things around the yard and I am afraid that if I go to my next 3rd opinion specialist that they will put me through all the tests and procedures and keep me incapacitated for another two years without any results.
This post doesn't solve my problems but I hope it might have helped someone that has suffered with kidney stones or radiation treatments
I started bleeding 4 months ago in November.
No UTI and normal kidney function.
Went to a Nephrologist - ultrasound was clear
He automaticaly diagnosed me with chronic kidney disease and scheduled a biopsy.
The day of the biopsy I had to see a urologist who suggested I do a CT scan first
CT Scan clear
cystoscopy showed bleeding from the left side
1st ueteroscopy show ueter was clear but put a stent in bc they couldn't get to the kidney
2nd ueteroscopy he washed out blood clots and lasered a group of capillaries in the kidney
Mysteriously neither were bleeding.
My urologist says he has never seen anything like this in his 15 years of practicing.
Big reveal I've been pregnant the entire time!!
He suggests if I don't stop bleeding I wait 6 months until I have the baby then have another CT scan and a biopsy of the left kidney.
I'm starting to think this could be some rare hard to diagnos autoimmune disease which scares me.
Anyone have any advice. I am in Dubai now but thinking of going to the U.K. For a second opinion.
