I just went through a huge stone. In fact, there where three in total. To remove your stone you must be able to see it first. If you can't you will need antibiotics to reduce the swelling. Once you can see it you can remove it. Place a q-tip swab behind the stone. Using a toothpick pull the stone gentely out of the gland opening. The stone should remove easily. Allow a couple off seconds to pause. Once the gland starts to work it will spew any remaining stones out. There is some blood and a little discomfort. Use oralgel if the area is especially sore. I would highly advise learning these techinques. You may get a stone when people are not available and/or you could be too weak to fight off infection. Don't get run down. Learn how to take care of yourself.

My 8 year old daughter will sometimes wake up with pain and sweeling on thr right side of her face right in front of her ear. This happens frequently and we have been to the dr several times to recieve antibiotics. It comes back again later. Its not all the time, maybe 2 or 3 times a year. Today we went back to the Dr again. This time he looked back through her charts and made an appt for her to see an ENT Dr. He did blood tests and blood cultures. He said he believed there was an infection in the blocked parotid gland. He also said that we needed to see the ENT Dr in order to find out what we needed to do for this. I have been onlone reading up on a Blocked Parotid gland, and I have to say that I am rather nervous for this appt. My daughter didnt do well with the regular Dr appt. Im certain that she will not do well have them poke at her incredibly swollen tender face. Has anyone had to deal with this in kids before? Any words of advice to help me out a little bit? PLEASE!

Nina, I too have both the eyelid issue and a lump in my left salvary glad, the one by my left ear. I woke up this past Wed. with both! I find it really strange, and am wondering if they are linked. I have an appointment tomorrow morning with my dentist for them to look at it and get an xray, and then wherever they send me from there. I may find myself in the walk-in clinic today as my eye is really bothering me.

No need to cut anything out. Look up "liferegenerator" on youtube for detoxing of the body on a cellular level with foods.
I have food stuck in one of the holes in the mouth to the right and top of throat. Taking it out by pushing on nearby area and stinky smelly food deposits come out. Now what worries me is that I have a hard ball underneath my jaw on the right side. Quite obvious its food deposits that turned into an infections. I'm pretty sure a few more years of this and it will start turning cancerous. So this is my solution: Fasting, detoxing. Antibiotics will only treat the infection and not the cause. The causes run much deeper than that, on a cellular level. Now I fasted for 5 days on water (I am not overweight so I took a shorter amount of time), the swelling has gone down about 70% but it's still there. When I press it, it hurts like hell and feels like an old pain that's been there for a long time.

I'm planning to do more detoxing and fasting until I'm regenerated from inside out. Surgery is NOT necessary.

That guy, LifeRegenerator knows what he is talking about. Detox, fast. On a water fast, body goes into ketosis and starts using fat, tumors, and things that do not belong in the body as fuel.

I had that once and the doctor gave me meds to clear an infection. Another person had it and was given meds. While on her meds she pulled out something like a long piece of spaghetti. I think your have a blockage in the parotid gland. Yes it hurts and I had the sensation again today after 15 years. I had just drank some orange juice.

For what it's worth, and for something undiagnosed, but possibly related, I've taken to chewing plantago leaves - - either the plantago lanceolata, or the plantago major, both of which grow in safe places in my yard. (I use no pesticides). If you cannot definitely, without question, identify the plant find someone who can. But I'd also, once you identify the plant - see if you make any connection to it. Call it a vibe - whatever.

I am certain the soda you drink is not helping, in part, due to the additives. You already know about drinking water instead. And I'm sure a true herbalist would be able to recommend alternatives.

Very sorry you experienced that which is not all that rare with diagnosis and treatment. We try to make the best choices at the time with the information we have. Rotten when that backfires.

One thing no one needs to do is risk shocking an already imbalanced system. I do not believe that a 5-day fast is safe for most people. I think you are unlikely to be "regenerated from inside out," although I understand the desire.

I just happened onto this site and was amazed at what I read.  I have also had the stones, infections and much more.  It began with the fatigue, then came stones and blocked glands and pain came later.  This was at the end of 1999 until 2002 when I finally was diagnosed with sjogren's syndrome.  Then in a very short while I was diagnosed with Primary Biliary Cirrhosis of the liver.  I have the secondary sjogren's, because it comes along with other disorders like the pbc.  These are both thought to be autoammune and today I also have osterporosis (severe) which is all a part of it.  Connective tissue....well, I won't go on, but I will say to look these up and get educated and hopefully you will find a diagnosis for your situation.  I wish you well and don't give up or let it scare you....I am in my seventies and wish I knew about my condition when I was young.
Places to reshearch are:
Sjogren's Foundation
Liver Foundation
Mayo Clinic
Get the facts from these people and others like them, you will be able to make better decisions for your health based on the real FACTS and not just from what we tell one another.  God be with you and Bless you.

What if there is no saliva at all, my mother in law has this problem and whilst having a test on her saliva gland the nurse was in a hurry for someone els e and didnt do it properly ie she couldnt find the gland and then the doctors told her there was no problem. She has had dry mouth for years and whenever she tells the doctors they ignore her. What can be done about it and what is the cause ?

I've had a blocked salivary gland under my tongue now for nearly a year....  It looks exactly like there is a stone (white) blocking the exit under my tongue but had an MRI scan which showed nothing at all.  Then they sent me for an Iodine xray to see what the problem really was.  They put a small candula (blunt needle) with a tiny pipe on it, which they inserted into my salivary gland then pumped a small amount of iodine solution into it.  I didn't need any anaesthetic for this as it wasnt painful, but not totally comfortable procedure, but it didn't take long.  Anyway, this iodine candula procedure confirmed that the blockage at the end of my salivary gland was simple a narrowing of the gland, not a stone...  Had my follow up with the consultant the other day and he recommended chopping the first 1.5 cm of the gland (in the mouth under the tongue) out, whilsy under a local anaesthetic...  this would apparently cure the problem once and for all....  I'd be interested to see if any one else has heard of this and what the success rate is as it sounds too easy to be true!

Hello,
I was just wondering what happened with your healing process? I went to the ENT with the same symptoms and he surgically removed a salivary stone from the submandibular duct underneath my tongue. I am on 2 antibiotics and it's been 3 days now. Still, I have swelling and pain when eating or drinking! I go to the mirror to push on the gland to see if I can see if any saliva comes out and I don't see any, unlike the other side. I'm going back again tomorrow to have him look at it. It should have gone down by now I would think

My wife is going through this excrutiating pain and swelling and she has had the antibiotics, ultrasound, etc. but the pain relief recommendations of extra strength Tylonol or Advil is less than satisfactory. The pain is severe. Tylonol 3's would be a good start. Demerol would be better but with the risk of junkies, physicians are scared to deal with severe pain. I feel her pain and after reading these stories I am feeling yours too.  We are trying to get in to see an oral surgeon (roads are closed due to snow squalls) to see if they can unblock the duct. Good luck to you all.
