See below. Cushings disease has been mentioned to me and it includes those areas. I have taken cortisone for years in inhaled and tablet form. My cortisol levels were elevated. Google body type for Cushings and see if you have it. I do.

There is a body type for Cushings and I have it. Also elevated cortisol levels. I use inhaled cortisone and have for several decades, also tablets sometimes. My Ent is hesitant prescribling the inhalers as he has seen elevated levels of cortisol on me and he is scared.

My 19 yr old daughter has had the bilateral fat pad swelling for nearly 2 years. She has seen 8 different specialists with strange & rude diagnosis but none that are correct. She is now severely anemic already had two iron infusions a d still low. Her face will burn when they are huge and she says its hard to breathe. After this mom has continued to demand an answer she has been referred to hematologist.

Ok everyone get a GI test for high bacteria levels and see if you have when all other tests come up clean. Staring meds my lumps on neck are a fluid build up as doctor took pen light to see if she could see thru them.
Fluids trapped possibly to bacteria build up ????? How I can't imagine and a little grossed out but if meds kill it. I'm in.

Like many of you, I have been looking for answers for a few years to no avail. Hard to tell if any of this swelling is stress-related because I live in a heightened stress state most of the time - volunteer EMT with 10 grandchildren, and babysit 3 toddlers 2 days a week and have 13 year old grandson living with us. Diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis last year by rheumatologist, even though my PCP told me she already knew that. Also told good chance I have Lupis, just not evident enough yet for actual diagnosis. My swelling comes and goes. Most of the time, my husband is the one who notices it since there are no other symptoms.

I see lots of "yeah, that sounds like me" and very little "I may have an answer". Isn't there any medical person out there that can point us in a direction to go?

Lisa- Fifty-seven pages of this (my first comment is about 20 pages ago) and not one person has ever said "The medical opinion about mine is that I have....." I first noticed mine in 1999, seriously. I've had CAT scans, MRI's, thyroid tests and a host of other tests, no one has a clue.

I had this too and it has to do with my lymph nodes trying to combat an allergy that I have to salicylates. When I take all salicylates out of my diet and beauty products these glands go down and are normal but introduce a salicylate and up they return.

I have this on both sides of my neck right above my collarbone. I had a MRI and they say it's a "fat pad". The one on my left came up first and gets very tender sometimes, especially when I turn my head. Other times it isn't sensitive. I do have some benign lesions on my thyroid too, which I need to go in for a follow-up on. Did you ever find out anything else? It's like you said...feels like a gel pack.

Was bit on back of neck a year ago, caused nerve damage, Neuropathy. I also have the swelling like Gel under skin at base of neck sides. Never had before. Could be nerve related!

I have had this condition For 20 years. At first it showed up on my right side and would go away every other day then it appeared on my left side also same thing. Mine is soft and squishy. I had a CAT scan or some such type test which showed nothing. Last year I was looking for a solution and found one site which mentioned it was caused by inflammation from some sort of stress. I believe to my stress was the unnatural position of my head from staring at my computer screen for many hours a day. It mentioned with very much work and a long time a chiropractor may be able to get rid of the swelling. I have to be careful what necklines I wear on my tops because the swellings show.
