Your situation matches mine to a T.  Im just wondering, how long did it take for the sore breasts, weight gain (well water gain is what it is) and bloating to go away?

Okay well I'm beginning to think I'm also paranoid. I had unprotected sex on Dec 1. I took plan B December 2nd which was about 2 to 3 days after my period ended. Then on Dec 3rd til about the 6th I began another period. On Dec 17th I had sex but my bf was wearing a condom. It's now Jan 14th and my nipples are very sore and my breasts are slightly tender. No back pain or any other side effects other than strange changes in vaginal discharge and mild cramping. I am about 12 days late now. My periods are normally regular but once in a while under extreme stress I have skipped a month. I've also been taking ibuprofen for the past 3 days which has stopped the cramping. I know I should take a pregnancy test. But could all this be contributed to having taken Plan B more than a month ago?

The small period you had on the 3rd of december was a result of the Plan B (not a real period) and I'd say that the reason your having the cramps and breast tenderness is because your period is on the way.  Being paranoid only prolongs it, (especially if its in your history that stress prolongs your periods) so just relax :)  If you had unprotected sex 2 to 3 days after you had your period your chances of becoming pregnant, even without the plan B, are very slim.  I'd give it a few more days and then go take a pregnancy test to be sure but I'd almost guarantee your fine.

Sources:  Nursing student, also taken plan B 3 or 4 times.  2 of which it prolonged my period by at least a week and gave me wicked PMS symptoms (sore breasts, bloating, headaches, cramps, etc.)

Hope that eases your  mind a bit :)

Hello ladies! I can't tell you how releived I am to know other people are expierencing the same thing!! I had unproctected sex three times in one day about 4-5 days after my period. My partner did ejaculate inside me all those times and I took plan b about 36 hours later! I was due to get my period around January 18th but I got it on the 11th it wasnt as heavy as usual and I didn't get any of my regular symptoms like I would normally! Also the color was strange or I could be really paranoid!! I have really tender breasts now like extremely painful! Could I be pregnant!?

If you had sex 3 times unprotected then yes, you could be pregnant.  But Plan B works pretty well so the chances are low.  That being said, if you've read the previous postings then  you'll find your symptoms (light period, sore breasts) are common side effects of Plan B.  If you are still having sore breasts a week after you were supposed to get your original period (so this would be Jan. 25th) and you also have no received what feels like your normal, heavier period, then you should definitely take a pregnancy test.

I am seriously freaking out! I had unprotected sex about a week before my period was supposed to come, and when we were done I asked him if he came inside me and he replied with "I don't know" which really upset me cause how  could you not know?! well anyway I took plan B 36hours after the unprotected sex. I felt alright. Two days later I started a birth control method, the "Depo Provera Injection" and I felt alright still. It has now been a week after I took Plan B and got Depo and I feel horrible, my breasts are really sore and kind of swollen, I feel bloated, a bit nausea's, and I am an emotional wreck. I don't know whether to think I am pregnant or I just have really high levels of progesterone in my body since plan B has progesterone and depo provera does as well... so it could just be my body reacting to all the progesterone. What do you think?  :-)

Mine hurt for a month.  I called PP and asked them about the breast tenderness, and they didn't have a real answer.  I think the pill affects people differently.  Some seem to have sore breasts and some bleed for a month, and then there are other side effects.  I think it just depends on the person but there is no real answer as to when the tenderness should stop.

Hey girls. I know this has been overly stated, but I'm worrying that I'm pregnant. I lost my virginity with my bf on January 4th, about 5 days after my period ended. He only had his "head" in because it hurt me too much and he didn't finish. He was wearing a condom. I don't think it broke, it just looked really stretched out, which I hope is normal. Well I took Next Choice about 12 hours after the incident. I felt dizzy and had light pink spotting hours after I took it. About a week later, I had dark bleeding and spotting for about 4 days in which I used a pad, which made no sense because I'd had my period about two weeks before. After that, I started to have breast tenderness and have been having it up until today, January 30th. I've also had very mild headaches and light-headedness this week. My period is 5 days late; it was supposed to come on the 25th. I took an hpt, which came out negative, 21 days after our sexual encounter 1 day after my expected period, on January 26th. I'm kind of freaking out. I have been stressed for about 4 months and my periods have been like 3 days late and 3 days early. I'm normally regular. Should I take another hpt soon? Is it possible I'm pregnant, or are my symptoms and late period due to the hormones in the emergency contraception?

I would say you're not pregnant Raven.  It sounds like you were being very careful by using a condom to begin with.  Unless the condom broke, the chance of you being pregnant is slim to none.  I would suggest starting birth control or at least using spermicide along with condoms.  You need to be careful about using Plan B in such situations.  I know you want a piece of mind, and there are other ways to avoid conception.  It's best to always use a condom and something else as backup.  That way you shouldn't have to worry about Plan B, unless the condom actually breaks.

Note:  Spermicide is not meant to be used without condoms or without hormonal birth control.  It's just a back up method, and it's not very effective if used by itself.  The plus side is you can get it over the counter, and it is not expensive.  Some types also promise to protect you from stds.

Thank you so much. I guess I am just overreacting, that's why my bf says anyway :) I'm guessing Next Choice is just affecting the start date of my cycle. Thank you for giving me some peace of mind.

I just thought I'd respond with the results. I started on Thursday the 2nd, 4 weeks exactly after taking Plan B, which was one week late! Phewwwwww! I also took an hpt just to be sure and it was negative. So keep waiting gals, it'll come, rather heavily too if you are a week or so late. Good luck.

Hey girls I am here to tell my story to help calm some nerves. So recently me and my boyfriend had unprotected sex. I had stopped taking my birth control about two weeks before and he did not have a condom. He was only in me for a few minutes when i totally freaked and he pulled out. He did not ejaculate but he did have precum. He told me not to worry about pregnancy. He told me that about an hour before I came over he masturbated and he did urinate afterwards. I still was freaking out all day at school the next day. After school I asked him to go get plan b for me to help settle my nerves. I took the pill within 24 hours after the act and it did help settle my nerves. I read every story on the internet I could find about if it would work or not. This did NOT help a all. I just stayed stressed and couldn't focus on anything except wanting my period. I took a pregnancy test a week after taking the pill just 5 days before my period. It was negative which helped settle my nerves. It is now saturday and guess what...I started my period right on time. Ladies it is a scary thing to think you are pregnant. I am only 16 and have a lot going for me. I want to be a doctor when i get older and i make straight A's in school. I could have ruined my life but i didn't. A baby is a huge responsibility so if your worried now it is probably a good idea no stop going down this path. But right now calm down! Plan b does work and there is a slight chance of getting pregnant from precum but don't worry. Lots o girls go through this and it is sad. I promise everything will be okay just breathe and think about the next time you have sex what you are going to get in to.

I ran across this site last week on accident and every thought, symptom and emotion listed is just how I was feeling.  It doesn't matter if you're 16 or 32 (like me) we all have things that happen that scare the c**p out of us.  I decided to wait until I started my period to post anything.  Here is my story......

I stopped my birth control on January 3rd (finished my pack) had my cycle on January 7th, and was told by my doctor to stop my pills for 2 full weeks because of some routine blood work that I was having done on January 18th.  That meant that I wouldn't start my new pack until January 18th after my blood work.  My husband and I had sex on January 17th and the condom broke, but he pulled out in time.  Well the next day January 18th the same day as my blood work I could tell I was ovulating, but I also started my new pack of pills that same day.  I managed to work myself into a ball of stress and thought I needed to do something just in-case he didn't pull out in time.  I didn't see the need to spend the extra money on PlanB when my normal birth control can be used as Emergency Contraception.  I found a great website that lists each birth control and how many pills to take and how far apart.  So I took the pills on January 19th and on January 20th started another new pack of pills.

On January 24th is when the emotional roller-coaster and mental stress really started!!  On my way to work on the 24th I threw up, then I had zero appetite for anything. I knew I was just stressing out over everything.  The next day the horrible breast pain started, which I thought would never end.  My nipples were hard for about 1 week, my emotions were all over the place.  Everything finally stopped on February 2nd, but then my cramps started up.  I just started my period today (February 7th) which is a few days early, but I'm okay with that given that my hormone levels have been all over the wall.

Ladies....nobody can tell you not to stress, we all deal with stuff in our own unique way.  So if you need to cry, then cry, if you need to eat a fat bowl of ice cream, then eat a fat bowl of ice cream.  No two women are alike, we are all different.  I hope that my post helps someone out there feel a little better, even if it's just for a few minutes.

Take care!!!

Hi and THANK YOU to all the women who have posted here! I have been reading this post all week, since taking Plan B 2 wks ago. I am reporting back that I got my period today. I had all the PREGNANY SYMPTOMS everyone was talking about: Breast tenderness and swelling and the most nerve wracking was bad nausea this past week. I am writing in hopes another woman reading these posts...is calmed by everyone's responses. It is true we cannot all be pregnant! And I am not!

That pill really does mess with your system. I have experienced an unwanted pregnancy, so the symptoms had me feeling..here we go again...and it was not easy. So, rest assured and be patient. The symptoms are a normal side effect. It appears it is shared by many women. I hope this eases your mind.
