I get this too. But Im a vegetarian for 5 years. The nausea got so bad that I had to cancel a trip to Thailand. Nothing really helped, but sniffing on some menthol stuff or vicks vapor rub helps w the nausea a bit. I used to wake up in the afternoon and sleep in, but when the morning nausea started I wake up around 6 everyday. I go to the bathroom and throw up sometimes. Puking helps for a little bit, but the nausea returns. Right below my ribs between my ribcage (abdomen) hurts sometimes because I haven't eaten. I don't eat breakfast anymore at all and sometimes I feel sick all day and only end up eating once. I tried stuff like zantac and pepcid and pepto bismol, but none of it actually helped. I tried taking ginger, it kind of helps, but it only reduces the nausea a little bit. Im not stressed at all and i dont really have anxiety. my doctor told me to get an abdominal ultrasound (to check out my gallbladder).

Wow, there are a lot of people on here with the same problem. Anywho, I used to feel exactly the same way ie: waking up nauseous, horrible gas, vomiting, etc. I'm 26 and I never ever had this problem before in my whole life and it suddenly came on out of nowhere. I never went to any doctor because when I had described my symptoms to my boyfriend, he had said that it was from Sinuses. I didn't believe that something so small could cause all of these horrible symptoms, but guess what...it totally did! I searched online and found a lot of people with allergies who have had the same problems. The nausea comes from nasal drip during the night that seeps down to your stomach which then causes too much mucas that your intestines can not absorb fast enough and is usually vomitted back up in the morning. So I tried spraying my nose every night and every day with a saline nasal spray and I take Advil cold and sinus here and there because it's a nasal degongestent and I feel soooo much better and haven't felt that bad since. So i just wanted to inform you all incase you might be suffering from this like I was and want to give it a try. Just google nasal drip and nausea and all the same symptoms will come up. I hope this info has helped some of you out. If not, I hope you all feel better!

I experienced something similar, but instead of in the morning it would happen during the night.
I wouldn't throw up, but that's because I have a phobia of throwing up and fought it tooth and nail. I
Also know that I had a lot of help from God--Praying like crazy always helps :-P
I always had constant pain and upsetness in my stomach, almost every day. It didn't matter what I ate.
Tried going gluten free, tried going lactose free, neither made much of a difference. HOWEVER, it might for you.
Had blood work done, saw a specialist, etc, and they found nothing. As of late though, i've been doing extremely well.
I take Protonix, which is an acid blocker--it reduces the amount of acid your stomach produces. I also take DGL,
which is deglycirrhizinated licorice. It doesn't taste that bad (its "chocolate flavored"). It really, really helps. It's a digestive
tract relief/help/whatever that works quite well, for me at least. I also have a nice stash of pepto bismol :-P
When the nausea comes, breathe deeply, walk around slowly, eat saltines slowly and one at a time, drink small sips of water, and
stay calm. Praying always helps. I hope all of this helps, as i hate hate hate nausea.
Look into Protonix, look into DGL, and ask your doctor if you might have irritable bowel syndrome as well.

best of luck!

Sounds similar to what I had, only it started at night. I think it was mainly due to stress and anxiety attacks, however, we tried a lot of things to try and fix it.

Number one- Pray :] always helps.
Number two- Ask your doctor if you have Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Number three- Take protonix, or aciphex, or some other acid production blocker, they help
Number four- Take DGL!! it works wonders. it is deglycyrrihizinated licorice, and it does a lot of good for the digestive tract.
Number five- see if you are gluten or lactrose intolerant
Number Six- are you pregnant? morning sickness?

i saw something about allergies and nasal drip to the stomach- ask your doctor about if a nasal decongestant will help.

My nausea fighting ritual goes something like this.

Small sips of cool water. Small sips of ginger tea, or chamomile tea. Also "ginger trips" or other ginger tablets help with nausea as well. I also have pepto bismol- careful how much you take, it'll constipate you. Milk of magnesia will give you the runs, but help with nausea too. pick your poison. eat saltines slowly. Pray. and immerse yourself in a book. walk around slowly. call someone and have them help you calm down. take deep breaths. relax. don't sit down, or lie down, it usually doesn't help me. well, lying with your head slightly elevated and on your left side sometimes helps me, especially if have a movie in, but usually i'm too worked up about the nausea (i have a serious phobia of throwing up, i'd rater die than hurl) for a movie and lying down to work. if you can fight off the nausea mostly, then it's time to lie down and rest.

I hope all of this helps! Nausea is awful

Just described my symptoms exactly. I have been this way for as long as I can remember, but it got really bad 2 years ago when a close family member passed away, and all the normal rifts came along with it. Mine happens to be stress induced, or so my naturpath said. He had me on chloryophyll to add Ph to my system and balance out the acid. Life happened, and I stopped taking it. Now I'm working out frequently, and I get so sick every single time. I never have ate breakfast, usually don't eat until lunch. Any other tips on overcoming this would be very helpful!

This is some what similar to what i have been experiencing for the last 2 weeks. I am 19, 6'4", and 190lbs. I rarely eat, and when i do it isnt very big. (Ex: Big Mac from McDonald's, i could eat half the burger and 1/4 the fries and i'm full for the next 3-4 hours.) I Mostly eat Steak, Pizza, Chinese, Veggies, Fruits, and Ice Cream. For years i have had heart burn in the mornings ever since i was in elementary school. Now when i wake up, almost instantly i feel sick. Since i take my showers in the morning i usually through up in the shower. I have only thrown up twice so far, but the sickness feeling has been there every day. I find it extremely hard to keep the vomit down when i brush my teeth. I do drink A LOT of coke. Literally its the only thing i drink from when i go to work until i get off. The sickness feeling is coupled with constipation and sometimes slight headaches (but nothing close to a migraine). I have had an ear infection for the last week so this might be the cause as one of the symptoms is vomiting and headache etc. but the nausea and upset stomach occur at the same time every day, so i do not think it is part of the ear infection.

my boyfriend has had the same problem for about a year. the only thing that honestly helps the nausea is cannabis. he's been on all the meds, prilosec and all that c**p. But nothing works as well as some pot. Seriously. you don't have to smoke it necessarily either - you can cook with it and still get the benefits. i recommend it highly if you are open to solving your problems in a natural way and side effect-free. if you don't believe me look it up in the abundance of REAL scientific studies supporting the use of cannabis for medicinal purposes - one that is not biased and follows honest procedures. doctors prescribe herb to chemotherapy and AIDS patients because of it's suppression of nausea and vomitting, as well as stimulating the appetite.

smoke up guys!

I have to say honestly, you can pop as many pills as you want to try and fix the pain that your stomach feels in the morning, but I must say that weed is pretty much how I can get up and got to school at 7. It relives that pain so i don't have to deal with it for hours. I have the same thing to Tried Blood tests and stool tests are all negative.

Has anybody tried probiotics? If you've ever been on antibiotics it kills most of the good bacteria along with the bad. You could try Acidophilus or something of that nature. Swanson Vitamins sells probiotics at a reasonable price. Also Manuka Honey (rather expensive, but I've found it on Amazon.com and at Swanson Vitamins) will help if your issues are due to an ulcer, but only if its the kind caused by bacteria. Lastly, has everyone had their gall bladder checked? It sound's alot like that too.. google 'gall bladder problems' and see if it sounds like you. My doctor told me that is my problem and I have the same issues you do to varying degrees based on my diet. And it is always worse if I have something greasy for dinner (fast food). I won't have body parts removed unless it is an emergency and I have to do it, so I've tried the above and they help. If you do think you have gall bladder problems, try eating a diet geared toward that and see if it helps. There are many examples of this type of diet on the net. Thanks and good luck.

Hello- I randomly came across this page and thought I would reply. I had very similar symptoms, though I was lucky enough to keep myself from throwing up every morning. Let me quickly share my story and give you the final solution, which has now left me in near perfect health:

I started getting sick when I was about 18. It was mostly nausea, but minor. Then it got much worse. Nausea every morning, as has been described here, and if I slept in until noon, it took the edge off. I would get crazy cramping pain and throw up often. I was weak and even lost a great deal of weight- mostly muscle weight. I had endoscopies and numerous blood tests- all came back negative. Then I started to feel better and would feel well for about a year before I would get sick again. I was sick on and off for 8 years before I was finally diagnosed with Celiac Disease and subsequent Vitamin B12 deficiency. Now how did they miss that? I had been tested for Celiac at least 5 times, and it all came back negative. Evidently the test isn't that accurate. During one of my better years, I spent a few months in Croatia where I ate a very gluten-rich diet. Two weeks after I returned to the US, I started to get sick again- really sick. At first my doctor and I thought it was a parasite and so I took anti-parasitic medication, but that only made things worse. My doctor tested me fore Celiac yet again and it finally came back overwhelmingly positive- evidently from the gluten-rich diet I ate in Croatia. I then had another endoscopy and colonoscopy, which came back negative. But my hero doctor could not be dissuaded. With 22 feet of small intestine, damaged intestinal villi could easily be hiding where the endoscope could not reach. He told me to go gluten free and see how I felt. So I did, and I started to feel loads better.

But I didn't feel 100%. So I got my old health records (a giant pile of them) and my doctor sifted through them and found that one of my blood tests showed that I had the Vitamin B12 deficiency when I was 19. So he tested me again, and yep- I had it again. It was strange that he missed it though because he had tested with an overall vitamin blood panel, which didn't show anything. But there it was, hiding. Celiac can cause vitamin and mineral deficiencies due to damaged small intestine, and deficiencies vary from person to person. It's almost like your body chooses which vitamin not to absorb. Those deficiencies can cause a ton of problems, and I realized that the B12 was what made me feel the worst. In fact, I'd say that was mainly where my nausea came from. It was also a huge indicator that I was not absorbing nutrients properly- despite the negative intestinal biopsy.

So now, I have been gluten free for five years and get a 2000cc B12 injection once per month. (It has to go in the muscle in order to surpass my intestine) I am now very active and athletic. Every now and again I have a few problems, but they are very minor considering what I've been through in the past. I also found that I had several food allergies, which is common with Celiac patients. So I removed those allergens from my diet and that only helped more.

My advice to you is to get tested for Celiac Disease and get your vitamin and mineral levels checked. Get food allergy testing as well. Before you get the Celiac blood test, make sure you go on a gluten-rich diet to get an accurate test. If it still comes back negative, try going gluten free and see how you feel. I went through years of problems and was clearly sick, but all my tests came back negative. But now I'm the healthiest I've been in 15 years.

Good luck!

I am nauseous every morning too. Often without diarrhea. I have never actually thrown up. It started for me at the end of high school, so I was maybe 16-17. But it didn't get really bad til college.

It last for about an hour. I can answer the question about anxiety I think. When I was living at home after graduating college, waiting for my job to start and had no reason to be stressed out, I was still sick in the mornings but it wasn't as bad. During college when I was organizing a conference and more stressed than ever in my life, it was worst.

I also get really bad stomach aches at least 2-3 times per month. Usually after eating but sometimes just if my pants are too tight. I wonder if these things might be connected.

I do hope someone finds a solution for us though because I live in Korea and sometimes I can't stomach the school cafeteria. I also keep getting yelled at for being late to work >.< I don't want this stupid problem to prevent me from holding down a job.

I have the same symptoms and have been like this for over 10 years. Upset stomach, vomiting bile in the morning, no appetite until 1pm or later, cramping, the whole bit. When I was pregnant it was horrible. I actually have not had any more children because I am afraid of another awful 9 months of almost constant nausea and vomiting.

A couple years ago my husbands mother, who was under chemo and radiation for breast cancer, told me to try marijuana. Her docs said that pot was keeping her alive, literally by keeping her eating. I figured what the hell, I would try anything. It worked unlike anything I have ever tried!

I was surprised to see that others had success with medical marijuana. The only way I can function in the morning is with a little med marijuana. It is amazing how only one hit can cut my nausea in half, after 3 I feel almost normal and actually hungry! You also dont have to smoke it. They have tinctures, edibles, tea and lots of other ways to take it. If its legal in your state you might want to give it a try.

I have tried everything my MD has given me and nothing has gotten rid of this problem! Currently I take a Prilosec in the morning and a little med marijuana then I can function.

I am interested in the post nasal drip idea that another person posted. That has always been an issue with me and I had a doctor tell me that I had post nasal drip as a child and that it was probably causing some nausea at the time. I stopped taking allergy meds a couple years ago when I moved to a different climate where my allergies were better. I am going to try it again and see if that helps.

Good luck with finding a cure! This is more helpful then any DR has been. They all think I am exaggerating!

I have finally found a forum full of people that have been going through what I have been through for the past year now. I m 22 years old and every morning when I wake I have the worst nausea if I smell food, see food or even hear food cooking I get really sick to my stomach and I haven't seen a doctor for this yet. I'm kind of low on my money and I don't have any insurance or health care and this sucks because Ive been wanting to figure out how to fix this problem the only thing I have been using to get me hungry and the only thing that works is marijuana I live in California and I have my Marijuana medical card to legally smoke, I don't know whats wrong with me. I have to smoke 2 times before I get hungry one when I wake up then one at like 5ish and then a hr after I get hungry. There was days I didn't have any supply and I didn't eat for 4 days just drank some water I barely could drink any liquid everything is expensive these days. Well I am going for a checkup next week to see if he can see anything through a blood test and I doubt he will. If we had health care They would actually save lives but some of us cant afford it and we just don't tell anyone about it and end up getting worse...

Im the same as you man, waking up super nauseous/ in dire need of expelling things from myself... be they top or bottom..haha.

Anyways i realize this is an old post, but ur specific post caught my eye. You said cannabis can help vomiting, which is true, as it has been proven to be a great anti-emetic. However, if you are smoking excessively (as i did ø_ø), there is a very rare predisposition (genetic predisposition i believe?) that causes EXTREME nausea from the cannabinoids, I think from building up in the fatty tissues (as thc is lipid-soluble). Now, this post isnt to scare you away from the great medicine, as you merely mentioned the plant in question, I have no knowledge of your personal habits. But trust me, stop smoking for a few weeks, and see if it goes away. It my seem a bit counter-intuitive to NOT smoke weed to feel better, but just try it. If it doesn't work, buy a killer vape/bong with the money u saved by not smoking! :D
