I had bunionectomy 12/29/2015 on both feet. Surgery and recovery went great. Now 6 weeks later I am having swelling and redness which I thought was normal for 6 months due to me being on my feet alot. Now doctor says we can take out screws. After I read these posts, I don't know if I should let him or leave them in. Opinions please!

Yes it is. I just had my two screws removed today. My body was rejecting them and when doc got in there it was full of infection as well.

What was the recovery time? I'm getting mine out too, but I only have 2 weeks off from work. I'm standing all day.

Michelle, poor you. I have to say I agree with you. O.k there are only one of two of us who have problems, but it's important people know . Not to be frightened but to be fully informed. I had a terrible time and was also in agony. Finally they have discovered i have severe nerve damage and will probably never walk again. No one even suggested to me that nerve damage may happen nor that it would ruin my life like it has done. Please, be informed and read all you can about complications.

I've just had my screw out from my big toe but the doctor said that my other screw was embedded in the bone. If it still hurts after I recover I will have to go back.

Do I have to take amoxicillin before going to dentist if I have screws and plate in foot?

Your comment sounds exactly like what I am going thru now. I had surgery in January and am going to have my screws taken out next week. I had trouble with my foot and the bunion before surgery and now after I feel like am disabled. I hope you are enjoying the new baby! Can you update on what has happened with your foot after you had the screws removed? Very anxious about getting mine done.
Thank you!
