AORTIC STENOSIS
Medical Term: None Specified
Description:
Aortic stenosis is a heart condition where the aorta (the artery taking blood from the heart to the rest of the body) is constricted at the aortic valve (the valve that prevents backflow of blood from the aorta into the heart). This results in the body receiving a much-reduced supply of oxygenated blood. Also, the heart must work harder to pump the oxygenated blood out of this constricted region to the body, and in doing so gets larger and is subjected to larger pressures.
These larger pressures in the heart cause a reduction in the coronary blood flow (blood supply to the heart tissue) which may result in angina (chest pain) and palpitations (a sporadic fluttering sensation in the chest).
Causes:
Usually it is a congenital condition (i.e. one is born with it) due to malformations of the aortic valve which leads to degeneration of the valve and stenosis (constriction)
Aortic stenosis can also be an acquired condition due to:
Ø Degenerative calcific AS (the most common acquired cause for AS) due to the normal wear and tear of this heart valve
Ø Rheumatic disease
Prevention:
Treatment of streptococcal infections with antibiotics (i.e. rheumatic disease prevention). Proper prenatal care to avoid congenital birth defects such as congenital AS
Signs & Symptoms
Fainting (syncope) especially on exertion
Fatigue
Chest pain (angina)
Shortness of breath on exertion (exertional dyspnea)
Shortness of breath on lying down (paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnea/orthopnea)
Shortness of breath or smothering sensations.
Swelling of the ankles (peripheral edema and congestive heart failure)
Palpitations (sensation of heart beating irregularly/fluttering in chest)
Vibration over the artery in the neck (carotid thrill)
Vibration on the front of the chest on the right hand side by the breastbone and 2nd rib (systolic thrill in 2nd Right intercostal space +/- along left lower sternal border)
Heart murmur (systolic ejection murmur loudest over the 2nd Right intercostal space)
Changes in the heart sounds (paradoxical splitting of the second heart sound in severe cases, S4 heard in early disease, S3 heard in late disease)
Risk Factors
Rheumatic disease
Streptococcal infection/scarlet fever
Other congenital heart defects
Age 70 years old

AND I AM SLEEP DEPRIVED. TOO SOMEONE MENTIONED CAFFEINE.INTAKE. GONNA TRY THAT AS WELL. THANKS!
My name is Travis and I'm 19 years old. I have a history of heart problems stemming from birth. I had a heart murmur when I was a child and grew out of it. When I turned 18 I had to get a loop recorder placed in my chest and now I have those same vibrations
I think you may be right! Just attended a weekend event where I was in charge of a short childrens program. Didn't sleep much the night before. First noticed light vibrations in my right chest while driving to the event, and they persisted the entire weekend. Now that its over and I'm back home after a good nights sleep, I haven't experienced any. I'll have to pay close attention next time it occurs.
This started happening to me yesterday. At first I thought it was something In my lungs. But even when I hold my breath it still vibrates. I went to the dr and they put me on antibiotics, steroid shot, zutec and Flonase. But after three doses of the antibiotic, it is still going on. the dr. said she cant hear anything in my chest.
I have this too did you find out what it could be
Hi I had this and I thought it might have been because when I was in hospital recently they said I was low in potassium so I looked up potassium rich foods and found that I really don't eat any of them so I went out and bought a small packet of almonds and ate the lot and within a couple of hours the buzzing had stopped and has been stopped now for nearly 24 hours so almonds will be on my shopping list from now on but you can also find potassium in yoghurt eggs bananas as well good luck
My doc told me it was from gas in the upper stomach area. IVsteriods cstopped mine.
My doctor told me it was gas on the upper abdomen.i took protonics zand it went away...good luck.hope this helps..he also said slower eating

Hi. I have experienced the same anomaly. At this point, I'm calling it phantom cell-phone upper chest vibrations. The vibration seems to be on the surface of the skin. That is why your first reaction is to retrieve the cell-phone from your shirt pocket. It only happens occasionally, and is not life-threatening. It is possibly an overly stimulated nerve, as one person said about consuming too much caffeine, or drinking too many shots of "Extreme Energy." I wouldn't worry about it unless the vibrations are located deeper in your chest.
If you have this buzzing sensation in your chest you migjt have a thyroid problem. This can occur when your thyroud levels are off. It feels like a cell phone on vibrate.
I searched about these vibrations in my chest area and I came across Anxiety Chest Tremors. You can also search n read about it.
For two days I have been experiencing the vibrations in my right chest under my breast. My other concern is the day before the sensations I vomited for unknown reasons. I first thought I had stomach flu but that was not the cause. Also when I think negative thoughts about my financial problems, I get sick of the stomach. Could all these symptoms be related. They all started in the same week.
You are absolutely right. I have the buzzing feeling constantly and I have observed myself I think caffeine has something to do with it also because if I drink normal tea or anything with caffeine within 24 hours I get it but..... I sit on a computer 24.7 and my posture is very poor and the thing with the shoulders is also correct I have to thrust my chest outwards to make it click to feel better.also my back is very bad and makes my posture constantly c**p
