It took me 4-5 months before my period became "regular" again. Don't stress out too much.

I know for sure I had a cycle the week of Dec 15th 2010 right before I went on Christmas vacation. I quit smoking cold turkey Dec 26th after many prayers from me and my beloved 81 year old aunt. Now I know for sure I am not pregnant because I have not had sex in years. Yet my cycle has failed too show her face. I am not complaining at all because I have had a cycle since I was 12 or 13 years old and now I am 45. I feel great without smoking more energy and mental clarity I do not get angry as fast I am really enjoying the new me. I have taken a new lease on life and all bad cycle must come to an end....LOL Oh by the way I am crampy in the stomach area..lol

I quit smoking end of Nov. I quit cold turkey. I am now nearly two months late on what was a regular period. 100 percent not pregnant (did pregnancy test)
Hoping weight gain and foodie cravings do not continue.
Weight gain is about 4 kgs.
All normal I'm sure. I think??

I quit cold turkey about a month ago... i didn't even really smoke that much anyway, but normally my cycles are about 36 days apart. well, i'm not supposed to start for another 2 weeks according to my menstrual cycle calendar, but i'm spotting and have been for the past 2 days. I don't know if this has to do with me quitting or not... i'd love to know without having to go to the Dr. and have to pay almost 200 dollars for them to just tell me "no, you're fine... this is absolutely normal!"

I think it must be a common thing, because I also quit smoking 3 weeks ago and I'm a week late. Absolutely no possibility of pregnancy, and I don't take any other medications for anything, overall I'm very healthy, even more, now that I've quit. With that said, I can't blame it on birth control or any other drugs that help you quit, I just quit cold turkey. Strange! I did have my doctor tell me though that smoking severely affects women's reproductive organs, she said it was a very little known fact. I guess these symptoms would make perfect sense then.
The weight gain is there but not enough to alter my cycle, I'm a belly dancer so weight gain isn't a bad thing as long as I'm healthy. I have also been getting heart flutters which my doc said was perfectly normal. Everything in my body is changing as a result of quiting. What I don't understand is that I quit cold turkey when I got pregnant with my son and none of these symptoms came. Okay well I guess I cannot entirely say that when I did gain a great deal of weight and of course I missed my period. But no heart flutters. The body is an interesting and amazing thing.

I have been freaking out because i quit smoking using champix and i have not had my period since. I am having really bad cramping both day and night, and a sore lower back - the mood swings could be smoking/could be pre-menstrual but i just dont know. i have done a pregnancy test and it came back negative but where is my period? why is there no information about this available? this thread is the only information i could find. someone needs to report this so that people can find reliable information about this.

Call pharmacy and ask if that is a side effect. That may help. And see your Obgyn for no period. That's my plan this week scared to death I may be pregers. My kids are 15 and 14. No ready to start over. But all pregnancy test are negative for me as well. But I have swollen breast tender and they are leaking milk. I was also fixed 14 yrs ago so it seems so unlikely I am pregnant bit scared all the signs are there. What you think about my situation?

sooo happy i found this forum.
i smoked weed and cigarettes very heavily for about a year and a half and as of almost 2 months ago i quit cold turkey. ive never missed a period before im 20 yrs old so this was pretty freaky for me. i thought maybe the stress of quitting and everything could have been the cause but this confirms it!! now i can relax and just wait for my metabolism to stabilize and my body cycles to become normal :) its been almost 2 months without my period so hopefully it will come soon!

im 20 years old, never missed a period or had an irregular period ever, ive been smoking since i was about 15 or so and i have given up (3 weeks now) cold turkey, i last got my period on the 30th of october and it finished around the 5th of november. its now the 2nd of december and i still havent got my period, ive been experiencing cramps but nothing as of yet, im a little worried as im never late, yes i have also been stressing alot and moody, if i dont get mine in the next week i think ill have to go get a test. so im guessing yes smoking would have to have something to do with menstrual cycle. (unless im pregnant which probably is unlikely)

I'm 20 as well, smoked for 7 years, never missed a period before, and haven't had sex in months. My last period was like the 1st of November..I'm never more than like 3 days late. I've been cramping for 2 days but my breasts usually hurt and they don't. I'm worried mainly because somethings not right in my body and I hope it doesn't screw up my female cells and cause trouble later in life.. (took a lot of biology classes).
I've only have quit for almost a month.. I also quit diet soda too. I had minor mole removal surgery about around the time I quit, and had a bad reaction to the epinephrine. I guess it could be all of those things. I just want it to come! I promise I will post asap when it does. If it doesn't in 2-3 weeks, gyno here I come!!

Well, this is the person from last post. I finally got it! I'm really happy I wasn't a couple months late like the other posters. I'm guessing that quitting smoking can throw your cycle off track either a few weeks or even months. So no worries people, it will come eventually.

Wow! I can't believe how many women struggle with quitting smoking AND wondering if they're pregnant. I quit smoking on Jan 1st this year after smoking for the last 12 years. I had totally forgotten that my husband and I decided to let things flow with maybe having a baby. We decided that early December. So now I am also late, but I believe it is most likely from quitting smoking as well. I'm on the lowest level nicotine patches and they are working.
I guess the answer to all these occurrences is that you have to wait and see. Wait until a pregnancy test would for SURE be positive if you are indeed pregnant.
Good luck to everyone with quitting! Smoking is really a truly addictive drug that is bad for your body. I enjoyed smoking very much. It was a part of who I am. But I know that if I want to be a healthy parent for my future children I have to start sacrificing now. Unfortunately people who don't smoke don't understand that smoking addiction is a serious illness that takes courage and strength to overcome.

I quit smoking 3 days ago with the help of Zyban and gum. I've been smoking for 15 years and find this to one of the most difficult things I've ever done. I'm totally freaking out of the possibility of being pregnant, bring that my period is over a week late. It's usualy in a 28 day cycle it has never been this late. I wonder if it is the combo of the zyban and the stress of not smoking that could be cause. After reading these posts I feel a little better about my situation. I wish there was more information available to know for sure. Guess the next step is a pg test. Thanks ladies for all the input has been very helpful.
