My sister is planning to tie her tubes. She has this plan for a couple of months now and it seems to me that no one can't tell her not to do that. She made her own decision and what worries me the most is that she believes that this has no side - effects. I don't think so since I was reading a lot about this lately.

I want to tell her to consult more with some doctors, not just to make her decision without consulting no one.

Can you tell me what are the side effects of tubal ligation?

Hi Guest,

Side effects is not what your sister should be worried about. The only side effect that she might have is a headache and that's basically it. The thing that your sister should be worried about is that once she does tubal ligation, there is no turning back. She won't be able to conceive after this and even if she decides to do tubal ligation reversal (if some day she wants to have another child), her chances for conceiving are only going to be 25%. She will have to think about it once she talks to her doctor, don't worry about that.

Hey guys,

You are not completely right about the chances of conceiving after tubal ligation reversal, Chocolate Bar. The chances to conceive in the first year after doing tubal ligation are somewhere like 65%, which isn't that bad.

Your sister shouldn't have any side effects, it is a more or less easy surgery and she should be able to go home just a few hours after the surgery has been done. She might have a headache and that's it, if she decides to have an intercourse soon after the surgery, she might feel a tingling sensation and that's about it I think.

No side effects, she will be able to go home almost just after the surgery and she can get back to her everyday routines at the very moment when she gets home although doctors are not recommending it, they will always tell you to try and wait for at least one week before you go back to your normal activities. When it comes to having intercourse, you can basically have it at the very moment when you get back home but again, doctors are not recommending it and they will ask her to wait for at least one week before doing it.

I tied my tubes 2 years ago and I was released from the hospital about 2 hours after my surgery was done. The doctors didn't tell me to not do anything, they told me that I can do whatever I want and that all that I might feel in the first week would be some weird feeling in my vaginal area and that's what happened, I had no side effects at all, all I felt was that kind of tingling. It's probably not the same for everybody but I think that your sister won't have any problems when it comes to the side effects of this procedure.

Good day everyone. There are different ways to do a tubal ligation. It depends on your doctor what he is going to tell you to do and how. I have done it and thanks God I didn't have any side - effects caused by this procedure. But that girl who was sharing a hospital room with me had some side - effects. Actually, she kept telling me that she had nothing but problems. She told me that her period was late, it was different than before and that she had some spots between her period. Also, her ovulation was really painful that she couldn't move. She got fat as well and whatever she did, she was not able to lose her pounds. Anyway, my point is that you need to think very good about this procedure and to consult your doctor about every single effect that this can cause. Good luck.

Generally, ladies who had this procedure are going to feel some changes. So, those changes that include heavier periods or maybe pain when the ovulation days come, I would not call that side - effects. Every other woman has that and that is nothing weird, it is just a simple effect that you can expect after the procedure of tubal ligation.

My good friend did it as well three years ago after she gave a birth, and she told me that she is not sorry about this. She felt this pain when she has periods but that was all.

Hey everyone. I really wanted to do tubal ligation after I gave a birth to my fourth kid. I was talking with my husband and he told me that he support my idea about this. So, I went to consult my doctor and he also mentioned me that there are several ways to do this procedure. So, the point of my story is that I almost accepted this idea of doing tubal ligation, but then my aunt called me and told me that I should not do this, not even in my dreams. She started to telling me about complications that she had after this produced, she told me that she was bleeding too much after her periods, that she felt abnormal pain even three months after this procedure. So, yes I am a coward and I told my doctor that I changed my mind. Now, I am pregnant again...I don't know what to do now...

God, it seems to me that your hubby doesn't know how to keep his tool in the pants if you know what I mean. If you don't want to have kids anymore and if you are scared of tubal ligation, there is one thing that also helps - contraception!

Don't tell me now that you don't know what to do. People are shocking me really very often.

I know a story about a girl who never had any problems. Sure, for first three or four months her periods were heavier, but like somebody already told - it is normal.

Anyway, no side - effects, pain or something else that is negative for her.

55 - 78 percent!

As you can see, those numbers vary from case to case. But she has to speak to her doctor about every possible thing that can happen. As you already know, side - effects are not that huge problem. Generally, I don't see that headaches are the side - effects of this.

The power of tubal reversal is derived from the fact that each month you have a chance to get pregnant. Even a small chance each month added up over many months can grow to be a larger chance over time, which is really good.

I think that this is a good option for every lady.
