Thanks for responding Karen.
My yeast stain came back today negative for any fungus but the doctor says she can see it under the microscope. I'm wondering if she really sees that... But she says that it is because bacteria isn't that easy to see. Says it's common that Glabrata is found on stains. I just saw where a number of you were getting positive cultures. Karen how did you get it if you don't mind? I'm researching and it seems like it's not an easy infection to get I got mine after a broad spectrum antibiotic. I will ask my doctor about the the combo but the pharmacist says it is too expensive. I'm not using the suppositories yet. I think I will continue boric acid and rotate tea tree oil suppositories until I get my bacteria stain back. My symptoms are burning mostly on labia. So I assume your last treatment is going well? Diflucan + lamasil.

Hi Tre,
What is a yeast stain? Do they just take a sample and look under the microscope? Have you had a yeast culture (where they grow it out in a lab)? Mine has only been positive on yeast cultures.
You said they were also doing a bacteria stain. Do they think you might also have a bacterial infection?
I don’t know for sure but I am pretty sure I got this infection after a strong round of antibiotics. I was incorrectly treated for a year for the normal yeast with diflucan before they finally cultured it and figured out it was glabrata.
I am no longer on the diflucan + lamisil. I did that for two weeks only with boric acid to see if it helped. It’s hard to say since I was also using boric acid but It did go to light growth. Now I am just on boric acid. I am planning to use the combo cream again if I can’t get to no growth. The combo cream is expensive but I do think the longer you have this thing the harder it is to get rid of! Keep me posted.

Hi Karen,
A yeast stain is a culture. I've had two come back saying no fungus found. My doctor says that she can clearly see it under her microscope. That confuses me as I would think the lab could also see it. Maybe it has something to do with isolating it... I am very happy that you have growth down to few! I definitely agree the longer you have it the more difficult it is. I also read that it's very difficult to treat when it was treated prior with Diflucan.
I believe that my doctor sees what she thinks is Glabrata, however I am not sure that it's correct. She told me a trace amount when this began over a month ago and now she says its everywhere. If that is the case then why can't the lab grow it out? I have been diagnosed with Bv and a culture was done. So
I know the bacteria that is present I'm just not sure about Glabrata. I have this stinging sort of itch and for a long time I had no discharge and then when I did have discharge it was very clear and abundant. Almost like running water and there is absolutely no smell. After using boric acid the discharge diminished to nothing but my labia and vulva werr very red and painful. Mostly my labia. I also am dealing with a UTI and because I'm highly allergic I can't take a lot of antibiotics. The last time I did this happened. So my issues were also because of antibiotic trearment. There is another group that may be able to help you. They focus on using natural remedies. Not sure if you have a social media account. I don't want this to get deleted so on your next post tell me what social media you have and in my next post I can tell you the group name. It is an exceptional group and I think you may be able to find help to knock this thing out.

Hi Tre,
I haven't written here before but I've seen your post, could you please post more information about the natural remedies group? I would like to have more information about this option, as regular remedies did not help me so far.
Thanks a lot!

To the guest that posted after my last post Hello! If you have the most popular and longest running social media. You should know which one I'm referring to yes?

Hi Tre,
Hmmm, it does seem weird they can’t culture out the glabrata unless they are not getting a good sample of your discharge. Glabrata can be hard to culture sometimes because a lot of people have little or no discharge. I will say your symptoms are very similar to mine though (burning/stinging, clear watery sticky discharge but not a lot of it, no smell, gets better with boric acid, comes on after antibiotics). Are they getting a good swab? On me they swab way up high and then also both sides of the vaginal canal against the tissue. With mine the symptoms are also worse during certain times of the month and after sex so I swear their is a hormonal component. I also had BV intermittently with yeast for the year they were treating me with diflucan and they were giving me lots of the metrogel which I also think makes glabrata worse. I have had no BV while on boric acid. I have a ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** posting of social network links, groups, invitations, or usernames is not allowed *** Please read our Terms of Use I am literally open to trying almost anything lol.

Hi Karen
Yes they swab me the same way. I finally did find with research on my own that BV and AV are vaginal infections but operate differently.
When you have Gardnella you have BV. I don't have Gardnella.. There are other bacteria that classify it as AV and my culture has shown those other bacteria yet my doctor never told me what it was, her nurse told me that I have an infection.. And the swabs do show the amounts as with your yeast culture.
If you look at my closing you will find the group you need.

Hi Tre,
Sorry, I am a little confused by your last post. Are they saying you have a bacterial infection, UTI, glabrata, or all of the above?
Thanks for sending the information on that group! Is there any place in particular where you have seen helpful information for glabrata? I wasn’t really sure where to look on there.
Thanks!

Hi Karen,
My doctor prescribed 30 days of boric acid to help my ph. Last night was day 26. I just noticed I had a tiny light colored blood stain. I can't call my doc today, but did you have any bleeding with boric acid? I won't be using the boric acid tonight.
You mentioned you feel there is hormonal component. Have you asked your doctor about topical hormones?
Thanks and hope you are doing better!

Hi Cindy,
I never had bleeding with the boric acid, just tissue damage. Even with as much as I have used it. I would definitely check with your doctor and just make sure it’s nothing to worry about. Because of how raw/irritated my tissue is, I now have been just douching with boric acid every night. It’s actually much less irritating and still seems to make everything feel better. I think it’s less irritating because the liquid doesn’t continue to leak out for the next day or so. You might want to consider trying this for a while. I have also seen where one lady recommended the rephresh gel to help balance the ph.
I haven’t asked about topical hormones but am having my hormone levels checked to see if anything is out of whack. I just did a whole bunch of blood work for that. I am also regularly using the grapefruit seed extract now which I swear also helps.
Let me know what the doc says!

Hi Karen,
I checked with my doctor and she wants me to stop the boric acid until I see her on Monday. How is a douche done with boric acid? Also, how do you use the grapefruit seed extract and how much?
I would be interested in what your doctor says about the effect of the hormones on the candida too. I will let you know what the doctor says about the bleeding.
Thanks again!

Hi Karen they are saying exactly that. I have all the above. When you get into the group just post and tell them your situation and immediately you will get responses on how it can be treated. I am now treating naturally and I do see improvement. Also for Cindy and anyone else my doctors prescribed an antihistamine for the irritation of boric acid and I immediately felt a difference. I am able to handle it better. Also just putting this out there, I tried a couple of sprays of collodial silver on the vulva last night and was able to rest as if my vagina was back to normal. At this moment I still am not irritated. Normally I would be after the drainage from the boric acid. The anthistamime helps me tolerate it while it's in at night but it wears off by the next afternoon. The bleeding for Cindy doesn't sound good and isn't typical with boric acid. I did experience that with another suppository and am no longer using it and the bleeding stopped. I would wonder what other meds are being used. Take advantage of that group Karen it is helping hundreds of people all over the world and I think that if they can't address glabrata specifically, they can give you remedies for resistant yeast and it may help. I bought a book from a lady who claimed that she cured a horrible yeast infection that had gotten so bad that the doctors said they couldn't do anything and it had grown tentacles and attached itself to her vaginal tissues in such a way that it was horrific. She details treatments on how to resolve resistant Candida. I emailed her and told her that after purchasing her book she had no information on Glabrata. She told me that the trearments work on Glabrata as well. I did try one of them and it made me feel better. But addressing the gut health is something that I am just now understanding is what keeps infection going.

Hi Cindy,
I actually use a nasal rinse bottle (it’s an 8 to 10 oz bottle) to do the douche because it came with instructions for how to sterilize it in the microwave. I fill a small pot with tap water and boil it for 15 minutes to make sure it’s sterile. I sterilize the bottle in the microwave for 90 seconds. I fill the bottle all the way up with water and then open up a 600mg boric acid capsule and dump the contents in there. I think I also read that you can use 1 tsp of boric acid powder for every pint of water. If I did the math right, my solution is less potent. I shake up the mixture, get in the shower and literally just squirt it up there like a rinse. I try to get the liquid up there as far as possible.
For the grapefruit seed extract, I take 1 125mg tablet by mouth daily.
It might be a little bit but I will let you know what the doc says after the results from all the blood work for my hormones comes back. Please do keep me updated on you and I hope you start feeling better!
Tre - thanks for the information and I hope you are feeling better also! I will try the group and see what information I get back. I really go back and forth on the diet/gut health with this strain. I have zero digestive symptoms and so far all the different dietary changes I have made seemed to have no impact on the vaginal glabrata. But yet, there is so much information about a connection between yeast problems and gut health. I wonder if the diet is a much bigger factor in Candida albicans. Regardless I am pretty much willing to try anything at this point but I would be curious how many people with glabrata have had good luck with the diet piece. Thanks again, it’s so helpful to hear from others out there!!!!!

Hi Karen,
Thanks so much for the instructions and for letting me know about your hormone blood work! Let us know if you find anything from the groups. I'm not on any social media, but if you find anything I may join. I will update you, and I hope you are doing much better soon!!
Karen and Tre,
I don't know much about gut health, but from what I've read even though you don't have symptoms, gut health can be impaired especially from antibiotics. And it's very important to work on gut health since immunity starts there. I'm just not sure what to do other than take probiotics. In the past eating plain yogurt has helped me also.
