Hi Cindy,
Thanks for reaching out. Honestly I think I am doing about the same. I am able to manage the Candida but I never feel like it is completely gone. I have flares throughout my cycle every month. Have you found anything that really seems to help with your issues? Are you feeling better overall?
Good to hear from you!:)

Hi everyone
Logged on after so long here. I have been thinking if you all but didnt have the guts to come and checkup on u guys. Been low all this time. I still have heavy growth of glabrata. In the past it has gone away with a round of boric acid but then comes back again. Now I'm thinking why does it come back and I should get that investigated rather than just looking for a cure. I do have a skene duct cyst a lil above the vagina that seeps in the vaginal discharge. I think it's what that reinfects me. Going to see a gynae about it. Have anyone of u heard of a skene duct cyst before. All this time the one thing tht kept me going was how many women have it and not have any symptoms and love with it all their lives. So it cant be dangerous. What symptoms do you have Rachel and karen?
Now I have another prescription of boric acid with me and I feel so disheartened to use it.
Karen how are the natural remedies working for you? What supplements r u using tht u feel r helping you. Maybe I will start on them too.
It's just so sad that all these years and we still have it and no cure.

Hi Karen,
I was feeling better for four months, but I haven't been better for about the last four months.. I have been seeing a doctor for about eight months. I wanted to see if we could compare protocols possibly by private message. I have never done that though. Thanks for reaching out. Glad to hear you can manage the candida. It's good to hear from you too!

Sorry to hear that you're still battling the candida. I haven't had consistent success either. Let's keep pushing and don't give up.

Cindy and S, so sorry you both are struggling. I know how disheartening and depressing it can be and can totally relate. I have been doing a little better overall. I am seeing a specialist now who has a lot of experience with glabrata and he is helping me manage it. I am on a long-term treatment with Nystatin suppositories right now and though I still do not think the infection is gone, it has really helped me to manage the symptoms. In addition to that I take a number of natural supplements which I think help some. I take a lot of vitamin D, a special immune supplement, and a ton of salve's and sprays that I use on the tissue. I also take a very specific probiotic right now also. The specialist I saw indicated the just culturing positive for glabrata or yeast in itself is not a problem, it matters if you culture positive and are symptomatic. My symptoms are burning (which worsens at certain times of the month), a clear sticky discharge (which I was told may or may not be a problem), dryness in the vaginal area, and of course the red streaks I have mentioned before on both sides at the entrance to the vagina (that hurt if you touch or push on them). Remind me ladies of your symptoms?

Cindy - absolutely feel free to private message me anytime! I am happy to help however I can.

S - I am not familiar with a skene duct cyst. Is it related to the infection or something different? I was told if the infection keeps coming back, the things to try are either a long-term vaginal treatment (like anywhere from 3 to 6 months) or adding a systemic medicine (oral pill) if there is anything you are sensitive to based on your culture. The systemic medicine is used with the idea that the infection is stemming from somewhere internally. I have to admit I have been afraid to try many of the systemic medicines so have mostly been doing vaginal treatments to see if I can make any progress. I may eventually try another oral medicine along with a vaginal treatment. Feel free to private message me also anytime.

I hope you both hang in there!!!! I have to tell myself all the time that people live many years with this infection without it spreading and for some people it causes no symptoms, otherwise, I get overwhelmed with anxiety and worry. I regularly pray that this infection will go away, I have also had it many years now:-(

Thanks for your reply Karen. Right now I am using some vaginal estrogen which helped at first. My initial problem was that I didn't have any good vaginal bacteria. So we started the vaginal estrogen, and then I got yeast (I don't know what kind). I am slowly getting more good bacteria, but the yeast hasn't gone away. My symptoms have always been burning, but they are well controlled with the estrogen. But I don't want to use estrogen forever. I have been using it about eight months, and the first four months I did better. Karen, if I don't get better I wanted to see if I could get the name of your specialist.

Glad you are hanging in there and sounds like the candida is better now than it was. How long have you been on your protocol?

Thanks again for your reply!

The above was from Cindy. For some reason, they say I'm a guest, but I have registered.

Hi Cindy,
I'm glad the estrogen seems to be helping some. It's weird that when you got the yeast they didn't culture it to see what kind. Are they giving you any medicine to treat the yeast? I sent you a private message with the name of my specialist. Let me know if you don't get it for some reason.
I am hanging in there and I think the yeast is better overall, sometimes it is hard to tell because my symptoms can be very cyclical (worse at certain times of the month). I have been on my protocol almost 4 months so far and have 2 more months before I will culture again and see where things are at. If you need anything, always feel free to reach out:-)

Hi Karen,
I'm glad the yeast is better! I used terconazole for a few weeks but I'm not using it now. The symptoms were much better, but the yeast didn't go away. I didn't get your private message. But for some reason I didn't get an email message that you had posted. I just decided to look at the website this morning. Could you resend the private message? Thanks much for responding and sharing!

Hi Cindy,
After you used the terconazole cream, since the yeast wasn't gone, why did they stop treating you? If you are going to treat, I would make sure you don't stop treatment too soon, otherwise you end up in my boat with a really resistant strain. You also don't want to treat with the wrong medicine or you end up in my boat as well. I would definitely recommend a culture. I re-sent you the private message I sent before with the specialist's info. When you log in, you should be able to click the upper right where it says your name and click on messages and it should be in there. Let me know again if not. I am happy to respond/help always:-)

Hi - I'm new here. Wondering has anyone had a C. Glabrata of both the vagina and bladder at once? Or just the bladder? I had a diagnosis of vaginal C. Glabrata 1.5 years ago - had been in for my PAP and mentioned some mild symptoms and the culture came back positive for Glabrata. I did the boric acid treatment, which helped while I was on it, but symptoms came right back (even after nearly a month of it). Now I've had the culture done again twice (once in January, once a week ago) and it says negative, with normal flora, even though my symptoms are the same as ever. I'm wondering could I have this mainly in the bladder which keeps reinfecting my vagina in short bursts? The symptoms really do come and go - been like that for two years. But the urinary symptoms are some of the worst (plus I have a urine-like odor with vag discharge). Thanks for any help!

I realize there have not been many posts on this thread for a while, but I am going to post anyways.

Last year I was diagnosed with a C. Glabrata yeast infection. I fought this for over 6 months. I am a 34 year old female with no underlying health conditions, so the doctors were stumped as to why I got this strain of yeast. They were also stumped on how to cure it. There suggestions ranged from oral antifungals for my intestinal tract to putting me in the hospital and IV'ing antifungals, to compounding antifungal suppositories which were extremely expensive. I chose to do none of theses due to the health risks associated with them.

This is where I began doing my own research and reaching out to numerous health care individuals to get opinions. And yes, for those of us that have experienced this, it becomes almost debilitating with the burning and the pelvic pain. I finally came across a compounding pharmacy and had a conversation with the pharmacist and he recommended using my probiotic as a suppository to introduce good bacteria back in. At this point I had already used the boric acid for 14 days which had led to some unpleasant side effects such as skin burns.

I used the probiotics every other day for a week and it was enough to kick the infection. Now, I must add that I do not think the probiotics alone cured this. It was a combination of the boric acid and the probiotics. Now, fast forward 8 months and I get prescribed antibiotics for a severe sinus infection. I loaded up on probiotics and took the antibiotic, but still ended up with another C. glabrata yeast infection. This time I hit it from all angles and I was able to be symptom free in 7 days. This is what I chose to use this time:
*RePHresh probiotics orally and on day 1 I used it vaginally as well
*Boric acid for days 2,3,4, and 5
*Another RePhresh probiotic vaginally on day 6 and 7
*I also cut back on all sugar, added a large amount of yogurt (check the labels since there are only certain strains of live cultures that are effective against glabrata which is L. reuteri and L. rhamnosus. I use Chobani yogurt)
*Began taking aloe orally to help heal any issues with my gut since I have read a large amount of research that shows c glabrata lives in the gut.
*I also found relief from symptoms by taking AZO yeast relief. There are some unusual ingredients in it, so make sure you carefully read the label to confirm you are not allergic to any of it.

This is the combination that I finally found that was effective for me. I do not know if it will be beneficial for anyone else, but I wanted to share because this was such a miserable road of pain and depression dealing with such a nasty yeast infection, that I wanted to share my experience in hopes that it may help someone else out there overcome this.
