i'm in my mid-teens and i have a friend of the same age who is severely depressed. I help her and we get along. But recently she told me that she sees clowns that aren't there. She's always had a phobia of clowns, because when she was little her group of imaginary clown friends started to bully her(she's been depressed for a long time). She says she sees them everywhere, not even out of the corner of her eye, but properly, she watches them move, sing and dance. She sees props like balloons , and they talk to her, reminding her of when she was little. Her guidance teacher knows, and she's going to tell her therapist next session, but i dont know how i should react or what i should do. Please help and thanks in advance
Just be there for her to talk too. It sounds like she is in need of a friend like you, someone who is not judging and telling her that it's not possible for these guys to exist. She lives in a difficult different reality world then you and me, this may or may not lead to mental issues later on in her life, she is just starting to figure out that she needs help. Good for her but she has a difficult road ahead of her. Be her support and friend.
Good luck and hope this helps. Steady Health can be your support and friend when you need.
