Hey Girl,
I know people are going to freak out when I say this...but if you've been having problems losing weight, I would suggest you get on a stimulant. DO NOT listen to people telling you that it will cause weight GAIN...this is not the case at ALL. i went from being 120 pounds to 113 pounds. DON'T STAY ON THE STIMULANT THOUGH. Just get on it until you get down to your comfortable weight, and then make it a point to eat healthier and work out. Hope this helps. To any haters - - - I will not be checking my email to see your rude comments, I have used my friend's old email address so I don't have to deal with b.s...LOL. Have a nice day.
I've recently been put on concerta for depression. Concerta was originally made to be a weight loss pill however, when testing it they also discovered that it helps people with depression, ADHD, ADD, and many more disorders. When I take concerta I usually take it after a big breakfast. The rest of the day I will not eat unless I have a late dinner. If I do eat lunch or a snack before the medicine wares off I will get major stomach cramps. The capsules are time release so it will last the whole day depending on how many milligrams you take.
PLEASE NEVER TAKE EFFEXOR IT IS HORRIBLE AND WILL NOT HELP WITH ANY WEIGHT PROBLEM..LOSING OR GAINING. THE SIDE EFFECTS ARE TERRIBLE...ONCE YOU START IT ...IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO COME OFF OF IT.
Dear god, what?!
I was just using Google to inquire about my rather concerning rapid emaciation, when it suggested this page to me.
(I would like to point out that I am completely aware this thread died down long ago, and likely nobody will read this)
I was absolutely SHOCKED that any of this is being considered! I'm on Concerta, way too much of it at that. I've been on it since... Hell if I even know... Since I was 15 probably; before that I was on Dexedrine (which did absolutely horrible things to me), and before that I was on good old Ritalin. So, including the whole other slew of very oddly chosen pills I've been prescribed over the years, I've been on rather serious medications (That you should never just _decide_ to take) since I was 7 years old or so, so roughly 15 years. Let's not even get into the very very annoying and troubling consequences of being prescribed Risperidone for _anxiety_ (Go Google that, see why that's an absolutely terrible idea) at a time just before or when I started to enter puberty, so yeah, massive influx of estrogen and all that, that's a great thing for a physiologically male human body to be full of during the time when it develops the more typically male characteristics (I'm sure I have some fun surprises when I see what in ungodly hell my skeletal structure looks like after I inevitably lose this weight (aforementioned emaciation) because I haven't seen my damn skeletal structure since before puberty, due to the rapid weight-gaining of either Risperidone or one of those other two horrible substances I took before that (No idea what they were called, one was a bitter mauve fluid, and the other was a yellow capsule that burnt like absolute hell if I didn't chase it with cold milk)).And I'm sorry if I just derailed your entire (... dead? ... abandoned?) conversation, but I didn't have the time to read all of the pages of the article due to the constant unending insomnia Concerta has gifted upon me for over half my life (Oh, and I'm sure Celexa is helping out with the whole "Never sleeping" affair (I'm off Risperidone now, finally))...The person with the top-voted post or whatever, who appears in the thread directly after the Original Poster, listen to that person, those side-effects are very real. Oh, and I'm not sure if that post mentioned the whole "You could die of a heart attack at pretty much any moment if you aren't acclimated to the dosage properly" or not, but, yeah, there's that. I've been acclimating so to speak for _15 years_ and I've got a super duper fun arrhythmia, which _seems_ benign...
it's about time that someone knew what they we're talking about. Just "living" changes one's mental and physical health.
Conserta is not a "weight lost drug" for you to lose weight. it makes you eat less and more active (BUT) It is different when you are a young adult. I have been on this drug since 3rd grade, to help me focus on school and work. Cause i was diagnosed with Adhd. When i was young i was skinny and was almost underweight. Now i have gain that weight from, Puberty. I started gaining weight. and all it did was help me focus now. Some parents put kids on this drugs cause they want there kids to do better in school. But i when to doctors and took test to be diagnosed with ADHD. I have seen kids givin the drug( who dont have ADHD) so they have more control of the child, or study longer and up more hours. (it happened with my sister when my step father wanted my sis to study all night for a test) Overall i am just saying if that is the case good luck to you. And I hope it helps I just dont want you to stay on the drug if you can fix your studying habits to help with school. It helped me in school, and i hope it does for you, and if you hit the point of underweight, drink milk at night to sustain your happy weight :)
