I had my ablation done 7/31/08. Have been spotting every day since. At least 4 times I thought I had my period as I was cramping somewhat. Today I woke up and I am hemoraging. I thought this was supposed to get better. I wlll call my doctor tomorrow and explain all to her. It seems with reading all these other stories, that spotting/bleeding can be a normal thing after this procedure, but for how long? I was hoping for no more of either. However, up until today, I will take the spotting over the heavy bleeding any time.

I had ablation in August of 2007 after 60 days of non stop bleeding. The first month after, i spotted for 3 days, just lightly pink. Since then, nothing.... it has been great, that is, until tonight.
My boyfriend and I haven't had sex for almost 2 months, and tonight when we did, I started to bleed. I don't know what caused it. Was it the sex? Is it my period returning?
I didn't even know what to do. It kind of reminds me of the first time, you know, like a cherry kind of thing. Is that possible? Am I worrying about nothing? Is this normal? I'm 42.
Please respond. i am going to call my doctor in the morning. til then, I borrowed one of my daughter's tampons. YECK!

I too had a thermal ablation on 2nd December, 2008. I am aged 48 and though have endured menorragia for many years things became impossible when episodes of continuous bleeding for more then 30 days were occurring regularly - culminating in a haemorrage like bleed that left me with an iron count of 4 and low haemaglobin. To date I have had continuous bleeding since the procedure, ranging from watery pink to brown, I feel pretty exhausted and a little frustrated that as a day case patient your only port of call after the 1st 24 hours is back to your GP - i.e. there is no follow up process from the hospital to check how you are coping. I'm not sure how long to leave it if this continues before I go back to the GP, reading other comments it seems like this could sadly continue for quite a time yet. I understand I will be reviewed by the consultant in 6 months time by which I guess he will be able to tell what kind of pattern has resulted from this - another half a year out of your life I guess! Strange how the medical profession hardly bats an eyelid when you say you have been bleeding for 30+ days.

I had Novasure a year and a half ago. i was happy with the initial results. I went from having heavy periods and dangerously low iron to having an easy, light period once an month. Recently i began spotting..almost every day...and i almost always bleed a little after during and after intercourse. i also have irritation down there that feels like an oncoming UTI but I have been tested for infection and i do not have one. What is going on?

i had an ablation back in march, my periods are now late and far heavier than they were before the op! Also the cramping and back pain are bad. How long will things stay the same, i thought the whole point of the op was to have an easier time each month, this is worse!!! :-(

I had an HTA procedure about 3 weeks ago...Very light pink bleeding for the first 5 days or so and then bleeding stopped. 2 weeks post-surgery, I had sexual intercourse twice without bleeding. Now, 3 days later, I'm experiencing bright-red bleeding and passing what looks chunks of brown tissue. Is this normal?

I had the endometrial ablation done October 2007. I had very minimal problems. I had very light spotting the first couple of days and then nothing. I have noticed though my cramps are much worse, almost feel like labor pains. The bleeding I do have around my cycle time is due to a fibroid, but it is very light, to where i can use a pantiliner and then its last for 2 days.

I too had an EA and sterilisation done 26th May 09 after several years of heavy bleeds. Since I have spotted daily. That I can cope with. Last Saturday after severe pain in my lower abs, I have bleed just as heavy as before, with clots, Tonight when passing more clots I noticed a brown meaty tissue about 3/4" by 1/3". I felt it passing. Went straight to see my doc, who said oh dont know what this is, did they leave some packing material inside! when I suggested I phone the gyna ward at my local hosp doc said good idea! the Ward have said my doc needs to refer me back to the hosp.
Advise please Im so low, Ive coped with several years of heavy bleeds, sleeping on an old towel as the blood loss just pours through sanitary towels which I have to double up on and cope with large clots every month.
Is the loss of this brown tissue normal? :'(

I had my albaltion in January 2009. I hadn't had any bleeding until this past weekend. The cramping was so bad I had to go to emergency. My doctor wants to do more tests to make sure I don't have cancer. At this point I have had so many tests and have tried for years not to have a hysterectemy. I think I am done fighting and I am going to schedule a hysterectemy as soon as possible. I can't take this bleeing and cramping any more.

I had the Novasure ablation done August of 2008 (38 years old) after many many years of severe heavy bleeding. I had super light spotting and my last period was September 3, 2008. Normally, during my periods, I would experience such bad back pain for the first 2 days that I couldn't do much and I would soak 1 tampon and 2 heavy flow pads in about 20 minutes. I have only had my normal back pain and no periods since the ablation.
Well, today I am bleeding...it's coming up on 1 year since the ablation...has anyone else experienced this?

I had a ablation done in Feb. of 2009. I was having irregular periods that varied from 18-28 days and when it came regularly every 18 days I needed to do something about it. My periods were not heavy though. The doctor did tests and couldn't find any reason for it. I'm 47 years old and they said I was premenopausal and my hormones were going crazy. So they did the ablation to regulate it but they said there is a good chance it could stop all together. Since then my periods were 18,18,34 and now 38 days. The doctor said its normal and it could take a year for it to work. But since the surgery I have had constant lower back pain, pain going down my right side, cramps, and now the nausia is starting. I have experienced my hair falling out ever since the entire problems started. So I went to see a different doctor today and he's telling me I could have Adenomyosis. He said to take Motrin and let him know how I'm doing in a few months. He also said I couldn't have a hysterectomy for 2-3 years because of having the ablation. Does any one know if this is true?

I just had the ablation done on Monday of this week, 11.23.09. Before the ablation my OB went through everything. He said that there is never a guarantee the bleeing will stop totally. It may make it less it may not. Studies have shown the bleeding to slow down dramatically and this can take up to a year for a good % of ablation patients. He also said that the younger you are, the higher the risk you have of the bleeing to start again after a few years. He told me I was considered in that young category at my age of 38. So it is now thursday the same week and I am crampy and still bleeing. not heavy but like a light period and this morning when I woke up it was more brown. I did also investigate a bit before the procedure to find that this darker discharge is also normal. So who knows, now, we wait and see. I told my doctor from the beginning that I was not looking to for a NO bleed option because I did not want to get my hopes up, but rather a LESS bleed option. I guess I will have my answer sometime in 2010. Just wanted to share some of what I know and hope to know more real soon!

Ok here is my situation, I had an ablation 2005 when I was 38 years old and it was great didnt spot got a light period maybe fore the first 6 months and then it went away for 5 years. I am now 43 and in August 2009, I started bleeding again, very heavy and for 7/8 days. I decided to have another ablation and I had that on November 4, 2009. I have NOT stop spotting since that day! I have also had my period trice since then with extremely bad cramps and heavy bleeding. I ended up in the emergency room because of this and they found nothing wrong. I went back to my gyne who did an uktra sound and saw no problems. I have been wearing either a panty liner or a pad for 9 weeks, I am actually raw down there! When Ive called my gyne she keeps telling me that Im still "healing", by the way this is a new gyne that did this second procedure, so I wonder what she did that Im still "healing" after 2 months. im due to get my period in one week and I know its going to be bad! I have an appointment in feb to now see a new gyne and see why the spotting hasnt stopped and why im still getting my period. What upsets me the most is understood that this may not work, but I didnt expect it to be as bad as its ever been, if not worse and my portion of the dr/hospital bills is already at $1500 fora procedure that not only did not work but has made my life even more miserable than it was before the procedure! this has made me extremely depressed, I feel liek I will be spotting the rest of my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!
