I have had the ablation done back 6 years ago and it took about three to four months for any changes to show. My periods had slowed down tremendously and it was wonderful . That lasted about 5 years. I am 41 now and I am having heavy bleeding again and intense cramping. I am also wondering if age has something do with it as well. I was good in my thirties and now I am having difficulties again. I have set an appt with my doc to discuss. I will keep all of you posted.

I had this procedure with the laser 6 days ago, I havent bled at all, I had very little pink water on the day of surgery and nothing else, I really did think things would be a bit messy to start with. I have rested a lot over the 6 days and only yesterday really started doing a little round the house. My period is due in 2 days time also so im just waiting to see what happens there. My cousin also had the procedure over 7 months ago and her periods have stopped altogether and it has changed her life completely. I m hoping for the same results but only time will tell. I did have a lot of pain the first day or two but it did get easier and I found a hot water was just heaven for the pain. . How have things been for you since you last wrote?

Have your hormone levels checked. Most of these issues could be due to excess estrogen. I hade the ablation, but wish my doctor would have addressed the reason for my extreme bleeding. I was told I hgad polyps, but never told why these might have formed. The problems have continued for me because the ablation didn't change the fact that my estrogen levels are off the charts high, causing joint and body pain, fatigue, weight gain, brain fog, etc...the ablation is like a bandaid, but excess estrogen can be very dangerous- can lead to breast cancer and can stem from adrenal tumor. Pleae have your estrogen checked! It might explain your heavy bleeding and female problems and once you find the cause you can treat that!

I also had the nova sure procedure in November, 2011 & have not stopped spotting or bleeding since. There have been days when all appears normal, as if I am losing the expected scar tissue, etc, but in January, I have had 3 weeks of bright red,non stop bleeding.  I am not sure what to do.  Everything I read says you can expect bleeding up to two months, but really how long is enough ?  Many friends I have talked too, who had the procedure, never have any bleeding.  Of course, it has to be different for me.

if you are bleeding longer than u think u should be, which i did 3 months after this sergery it was light, but i had not sure what they call it, but when u get a bad burn, and than it is like infected in there, so the dr gave me perscription to take for the bacteria and that ended the bleeding, so u might ask him for the perscription for that

I had the endometrial ablation 10 years ago for heavy periods. After surgery I continued to have periods however they were very light and very manageable. But a few months ago I started bleeding bright red blood again and they slowly started to increase. Doctor says the procedure has worn off and they will do the ablation again. Had my 2nd ablation last month and now one month in I just started a period, yes it is light but I am bleeding bright red blood and it seems the procedure didn't do anything for me!! Doctor says my uterus was so scarred up from the first procedure he wasn't even sure this would work, and I guess he was right. So now my only options are birth control or hysterectomy...is there any hope for cramps & bleeding I feel it is ruining my life!!

I had an entometrium ablation done on 5/25/2011.  I had light bleeding until August and then it stopped.  I had a normal period in October, November and December.  My period started again on January 7, 2012 and it is the 20th of July and it hasn't stopped yet.  I have periodic heavy bleeding along with large blood clots.  The heavy bleeding usually begins after the sun goes down.  Once I lay down I seem to be okay.  I didn't want a hysterectomy so I tried this method, however it isn't working.  I'm thinking about a hysterectomy because I am tired and week all of the time because of all this bleeding.  I decided that if it hadn't stopped by Monday the 23rd, I would contact my doctor and discuss other options!!  A couple of my friends had the same procedure done and it didn't work for them either.

Here is my story.  I hope it helps someone.  I am 47 years old.  I have had very heavy bleeding for 5 years.  I would wear the overnight pads constantly.  I would bleed for 7-8 days with softball sized clots common.  I talked to my doctor and she felt everything was fine but that I was just getting older.  December 2011 my period started.  From the beginning I knew this one was different.  Three nights into it I was up all night because of the heavy bleeding and very large clots.  This lasted the next day and into the next night.  At 2am I was sitting on my bed knowing I needed help.  I went to my 22 year old daughters room (who is studying to be a nurse and has been so good/helpful during this) and had just enough energy to fall into the door.  She of course heard me.  I crawled to the bathroom because another clot was coming.  I don't remember another thing until the EMT's were there in my bathroom.  I had had a seizure due to the severe blood loss and low blood pressure brought on by the blood loss.  I was taken by ambulance to the ER.  My hemoglobin was 7.  Normal is 13-16 for women.  I was in the hospital for 4 days while they tried to stop the bleeding.  They gave me a Depo shot which helped.  I refused the transfusion only because I felt I could replenish my iron by ferrous sulfate and iron enriched foods.

After many tests I was scheduled for an ablation, D&C, a procedure to take off cervical polyps and a biopsy of the uterus.  Those procedures were done January 12, 2012.  At the time of my procedure my hemoglobin was up to 11.2.  Still low but certainly going in the right direction.  It is now January 25, 2012.  Since the procedure I have had very light bleeding and a watery discharge.  This has been enough to wear a light pad.  This would have been the normal time I would have my period.   This morning I have been having a bit more blood but certainly manageable.

I go back for my 3 week followup on the 30th.  We will see what his thoughts are.

Here is what I am feeling at the moment.  Some crazy, scary things may happen in the next few months to a year with my crazy utereus but I am looking at it that at least I will not have a seizure and nearly die on my bathroom floor.  I do believe I will have a hysterectomy in the future but I will take it one day at a time.

I am also considering a hysterectomy but I am afraid of all of the possible side effects from that. I have heard (bladder control issues, low sex drive, painful sex, weight gain, ect) I can't deal with all of that, I am wondering if dealing with the bleeding would be a better alternative! All I know is after having two ablations I shouldn't be bleeding at all it seems? But I am convinced nothing will stop it for good except a hysterectomy

I had an EA on 12/22, started bleeding on 1/4 & it hasn't stopped. The doctor put me on b/c a week ago and still no relief. I'm getting a 2nd opinion then a hysterectomy.

I had a endometrial ablation done June 25 2010. I am 40 yrs. old. The doctor thought it was the best root to go. No more heavy bleeding or periods. Guess again! Today is July 20 2010 & I am still bleeding. Phoned the doctor she said give yourself time to heal. come see me in Aug. & we will go from their. My question is how long does it take to stop bleeding?

It will get better just give it time I have not pain any more after my op in April and only very light periods now. Its the best thing I have done for my periods. Ir took about 6 to 8 weeks to settle down but worth it.

Thank you so much for posting. I am going on five weeks of continuous spotting. I'm glad to know yours stopped after 6 to 8 weeks. I was beginning to feel like I made a mistake.
