Does any of this have to do with complications of your particular anatmical stresses/structures? What about doctor selection? Adherence to PT or even teh kind of PT. How on earth should I proceed with a THR? Any advice to avoid surgical diaster? I had a surgical nightmare one year ago with a paralyzed nerve after surgery with the best surgeon in our large city. There was a 1% chance of that happening and it was me. I am shaking in my boots thinking of being in that 1% again.

thanks

I had my right hip replaced july31 2012 and still have pain. If I sit in a certain chair I am unable to bear any weight on the right side. My doc says it's back pain. I was SO frustrated and finally went in to get a second opinion. Turns out I am NOT crazy, I need a revision because she put it in wrong. She went to the wrong hospital the day of the surgery. I am furious that I have to endure another surgery but if it means the pain will be gone it's worth it . My new doctor told me you must have a doc with a fellowship in orthopaedics who only does joint replacements, there is hope GET a second opinion, I also had clicking constantly which my doc dismissed as well.

I had my right hip replaced in August '12 and have continuous pain mid thigh and in the groin.  I was back to the hospital again today (after being there last week and being sent for yet another CT scan) to be told that I have to be patient and no other explanation.  Juat keep doing physio and lymph drainage.!!!! I can't lift my leg, can't drive my car, have to rely on others for lots of help and am getting very frustrated.  But it is good to see that I am not alone with this, and can reassure myself that its not all in my head.  I am amazed thought, that no explanation and reassurance can be given.  If only I had known all this before.

I am 32 years old and had an anterior approach hip replacement four months ago.  My dr. said I had no cartilage left and that the recovery would be a bit longer.  However, I am at 4 months with the same groin pain I had before the replacement!!  I was trying to get back to the gym, cycling, and maybe I did too much.  I am also on my feet all day, being that I am a P.E. teacher.  I just can't find a happy medium.  I have gained a lot of weight and want to lose it but I cannot without exercise.  I am so frustrated.  I feel like there is something wrong.  Anyone else feel this way?  Just tired of being in pain!

Hi,

I had my Left hip replaced July 2012,  I was 47 at the time, so I am 8 months in, I was going through all the same things at 3 and 4 months and thought I was never going to be better again, I would go the dr they xrayed all was good, just told me be to patient.. and to remember my age that I was younger then "normal" age for this type of surgery, so I was expecting too much too soon.

Now at  8 months it's like a light switch being turned on!  I feel great have my energy back so give it time :)

I am walking about 1.5 miles is my max, still get tightness and sore when walking too far, bike riding no problems.

So i had my right hip replaced 03/21/2012 and the recovery was very quick, i went back to work full time by memorial day. However i have had some reoccuring lapses to where the pain was so bad that i frequently followed up with my surgeon and pcm and resorted to using my cane again. the surgeon did an x-ray and told me no signs of infection and the hardware looked fine. wanted to do a shot of cortisone for bursitis. i have NO symptoms of bursitis and refused the treatment. So i went back to my pcm and explained everything and she sent me for an mri only to find out i have a fracture that an x-ray couldn't pick up

I too had a THR August 22nd 2011 - Mine hasn't worked out well at all -I can't drive, walk very far or ride a bike and its now nearly 8 months after - Get a lot of pain on the outside of Right Replaced Hip area if I do anything at all - Will no doubt be told its nothing at all when i go back in a weeks time - They have done an MRI scan on the Lumbar Region now to try and rule out back trouble...! I too wish in some respects I hadn't had this done - I'm in more pain now than before and now cannot even drive a car which i could do before..

Hi my groin has been sore ever since I had the hip replacement 9 months ago Going for MRI tomorrow. Surgeon says there was not a lot of bone left to put the cup on to. It may be slipping back and for catching the muscle in my groin.

I had THR on my right hip 11/19/13 and everything was going to plan, I started walking without a cane or crutches after christmas it was great no pain. Then around January 20 I went shopping at Costco and the next day I woke up with severe pain from my hip to my knee  and now I have had the pain ever since. Went to Ortho Dr. a couple of times x-rays were fine, gave me antibiotics for infection. I'm at a loss. my knees were replaced 10 years ago so i don't think it is a knee problem had those x-ray too and they were fine. PT seems to aggravate it worse. They don't seem to have any answers it's like a medical mystery to them but the more I read about it the more problems people have. I felt like I was the only one with the problem. It was so nice that short period time I didn't need any pain meds now I need some to help cut some of the pain. What do we do? I'ts so depressing I thought I was getting a new lease on life now I'm back to like before hip replacement and worse.
