I've been on high dosages of warfarin since Nov 2014 after suffering a blood clot in my jugular vein in neck and have gained weight too and feel bloated and uncomfortable.I eat a healthy diet and walk everyday .I feel fatigued,my hair had thinned and falling out.I have aches and pains that never had before. Doctors insist it isn't medication but how can we all be experiencing the same and ALL be wrong?

I have gained 10 pounds in three months since I started taking Warfarin yet my mother and brother haven't and they've been on it for years. I don't typically have a weight problem.

it's happenING to me also, but pcp does not agree. i don't know what to do. i am exercising more than i ever have & have always eaten a good diet, prior to warfarin I was on a weight loss regimen & had lost 12 lbs-i only needed to loose about 20. now i've regained what i lost & feel like i am inching up toward higher numbers, no matter how hard i exercise. i'm being faced with lifetime warfarin therapy. what can be done?

I am on coumadin for a pulmonary embolism in my lung and ever since I have been on it (2 months) taking 3 sometimes 4 2.5mg tablets a day and I have noticed a huge weight increase with no change in diet and I'm trying to work out (cardio) more at the gym but I feel puffy around my face and Tummy. I am 25 and I am used to being about 135 5'6. Now I'm all the way at 155!!! That's with gym 5 days a week!! I know the warferin has some role in my weight gain because it's the only medication that I have taken up in the last two months which corilates with my gains. :(

I am at the doctors office now. I have been complaining about weight gain while taking this Coumadin over the last year. Doctor says it is my diet. But eat very healthy foods - green salad, protein drinks, fat loss vitamins, exercise 5 says per week. Good news is that I am coming off the meds today. We will see if I loose weight.

I have put on a considerable amount of weight. I eat and drink exactly the same as I did before I was put on Warfarin I would really like to come off it.

I have been on Coumadin for 8 months and have gained a total of 15 pounds and am having difficulty losing it... I work out 3-4 days a week and cannot get the wait to budge... Very Frustrating.. I hoping to go off soon to see if I lose it. I AM a FIRM believer as an RN and patient that weight gain is a definite side effect!!!

I too have experienced a significant weight gain after starting warfarin (more than 10% of my body weight). Some weight gain was expected as I had lost 8 lbs due to illness followed by pulmonary embolisms. But, I have been gaining weight at the rate of 1 to 1 1/2 lbs a week for the last three months (yes, a 17 lb weight gain to my pre-illness 130 lb frame.) Exercise has been the same, rather sedentary, and my diet has changed little (other than for the first two weeks where I tried to gain back some of my illness-related weight loss.) It is very frustrating, I've had my thyroid checked and it is unchanged.

I began Coumadin in September 2014. I have since gained 35 lbs. I started Cardiac Rehab in November and still go 3 days a week. I am even more active now than I was before my Open Heart Surgery. I also have a physically active job. I have complained to my Cardiologist, PCP and Rheumatologist (treating me for Lupus also) about the weight gain! I am miserable! I don't know what to do at this point.

I have been on coumadin since July 14, 2014 where I weighed 128lbs. I NOW weigh 152lbs. I am a yoga instructor, salon mangager, and up to 5 HOT yoga classes a week on top of taking Bar Method 4 times a week. My doctor told me it was the way I was eating. Well I eat very healthey, plus use a nutritionist. After reading all of your posts, I would rather take myself off this drug that clearly is making me unhealthy than be on it. I am going to try cupping and pry for the best.

I would really liked to know how you get on as I've been 8 months post taking a long course of couda in at high dosage I put on over a stone of weight. I am very active working full time mum eating hardly any carbs. My tummy is so large and it feels like nothing I do is helping me shift this weight. I used to be a regular runner - DVT was caused after Achilles tendon repair op. Any tips will really help I'm not used to being a larger lady and finding it difficult
