Any dermatologist will tell you that you need a product with a high AHA/BHA level - which is the best thing to truly help with exfoliating skin. Using abrasive exfoliants can sometimes make the skin more red and irritated. You don't apply the AHA lotion straight after waxing or shaving but instead wait a day or two and then apply wherever you need it. Neostrata is a good range with varying levels of acidity - and remember just because a product is marketed for the a particular body area, doesn't mean you can't use it (sensibly) on other areas.
The only proven method of reducing the appearance of scars is to silicon e.g. Mederma gel, but many Dr's also recommend to keep the skin moist to encourage healthy skin cell regeneration e.g. Vitamin E or rosehip oils. A more permanent solution would be laser e.g. Fraxel laser.
Hope this helps.

Hi, I am 22 years old I have little  dark marks all over my vegina area . I am a darker in complexion and the marks are from ingrown hair marks that healed after I shaving. The marks are all my vegina on my bikini lines from shaving. please help me how can I get rid of these marks and is it possible to exfoliate that area and if it is possible how can I exfoliate it,And can you please give me a solution that does not have to do with using bleaching creams, because bleaching creams ruin the skin. Please help me, its embarassing and unplesant...........thank you

Ingrown hair is caused by hairs are cut or somehow get broken and end up right below the skin line where they grow back under the skin instead of the right way. This makes unsightly and painful little red bumps that may lead to infections or other problems and causes you to need ingrown hair treatment.
Some parts of our bodies are more prone to get ingrown hairs because they are harder to shave properly, as well as getting hot and having clothing rub on them and cause more irritation and a need to get rid of ingrown hairs. ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** web addresses not allowed***

Guysss.... everyone who shaves have the exact same problem. I have it to thats why im here.. the best thing to do is stop shaving but if like me you have no time for alternatives like waxing (because its hurts as it takes the hair out from the roots).
The trick is not to strech your skin a lot when shaving and make sure the skin is wet and use something like something like shaving cream or sop to stop irratation of the blade and try not shaving in the same place more than 3/4 timess... you can prevent the scars and the spots by creaming regullary using coco butter or bio oil but it takes a lot of time .. it might not work, really depends on your skin and the scar... if you still think its a scar make sure its not a small ingrown hair and take it out so your skin grows properly.

GUYS! I am 21 years old with the same problem- extremely prone to ingrown hair and my legs are all covered with dark marks which were left after picking the hairs etc. I tried every thing EVERY THING. I even tried the glycolic lotion that one of the girls mentioned- no, it does not work- it only make my skin burn like hell. Hmm what elese.. of course TEND, BLISS (u name it)- I used it all. Let me also tell you- my problem with ingrown hair got really bad after i started waxing. So if you're not planning on waxing every 3 weeks dont even try. Right now i'm trying to shave like once a week and make sure i sit in the warm shower for at least 5 mins so my pores open up really well.. i scrub every other day (scrubbing really improved my situation-the only downside is that if u fake tan-it goes away faster- KP scrub @ sephora works great). So yeah guys really other than that...there is really nothing we can do - in my case i believe it may be hereditary too- my mom and aunts have the same problem. JUST REMEBER NOT TO FRICKING PICK. i know its hard but really it worsens your situation 80%! And yeah save up for the laser... thats what im doing now...  i always get so jelous of people with great skin they shave every freaking day and their skin is perfect.. :( waaa .. life is not fair lol. well good luck ladies !!! We are all beautiful regardless :)
