I have exactly the same thing from falling down stairs!!! I have had this four at least five years and it's still sometimes tender to touch. Sometimes it looks a lot deeper then usual. I'm so glad I've found someone with the same injury I have been googling for ages with no results.

The same thing happened to me a year ago too.  I fell down the stairs in my house and my left bum cheek took the full force of the impact, along with whiplash to my neck, bruising to both elbows and a severly jarred body.  The result was a huge half moon sized bruize that covered the whole of my left bum cheek and now I have the dent with a large lump above it.  I did not visit the Doctors, nor did I have the haematoma aspirated.  Time is a great healer and eventually it went away on its own, although it did take months.  It seems like whether you have the haematoma aspirated or not, you end up with the lump anyway and in the big scheme of things, life could be a lot worse than a lump on your bum.  I just count my blessings every day that I am healthy, happy and able bodied.

I have the exact problem with most people here, a small bump and dent under it - because of having fallen on the stairs. I thought that it might get better in time but it's been 2 years and there is no slight improvement. So I finally decided to do something about it because it bothers me so much. It's both comforting and sad to read all those stories - it seems like the healing "takes a lot of time, patience and luck.  I don't even know yet - which kind of doctor I need, a dermatologist or esthetician. I will share my experience and results after I go.

I am comforted, somewhat, by reading these posts. I know that I have a very large bruise on my bum...hit the corner of a counter very hard and deep. It went away and then I noticed a lump- but because I'm never concerned about bruises- I can't remember exactly IF this lump was after the bruise. Same general area so likely.

As a cancer survivor, I worry every day. I went to doctor and she said it's likely from the injury. I don't care what I look like in a bathing suit, pants or naked- I just want to stay alive. I will live with my bump and be thankful. I am thankful to all of you for sharing your stories...i copied them and will read about lumps just being unsightly rather than deadly.  I'm so grateful.

I fell on wet wooden steps about 8 yrs ago and have the same problem mentioned by all the others on here. I am not a medical professional, but massaging it a lot did help, and I think if you massage it a every day as the scar tissue is forming inside, it may help the bump not be so noticeable. I would also wear some sort of tight butt shaper as often as possible. It may actually help shape the scar tissue to where it is not noticeable at all.

what type of surgery was this that you underwent?

This has happened to me twice! Both nasty falls down metal stairs. The 1st "butt dent" happened 18 yrs ago - the dr recomended cardio to "break up the tissue" which helped A LOT.  I could see a slight dent but a MAJOR improvement to how bad it had originally been. In November I fell again and dented myself again. Same side so I'm worried it won't go away. You can really see it in clothes so I am exploring various options of removal. If anyone did resort to plastic surgery please tell us as much as you can! Currently I'm trying slimline pod sessions and have a consultation for Lipo Light and Zerona. Not sure if those will work on a hematoma but worth investigating. TBC...

I fell on my staircase months ago and had hopes this dent would go away to no avail. I have tried compression stockings which help temporarily and exercise actually seems to make it worse. I am going to call a plastic surgeon though I'm not too hopeful from reading others posts above. I will try the "tape" trick as someone suggested because it is noticeable under my pants. I don't have much faith in the American health care system nor doctors and am quite envious of the story of the woman from Italy who was able to have successful treatment within weeks. I've had other health issues that took months for doctors to address as I basically had to continually call and borderline harass them. Please let me know if anyone has been successful. Thank you!

Plastic surgery is an option! My friend had a similiar experience and she sought the help of Dr.Michael Kreidstein in Toronto. The issue was fixed by him so you better consult a good doctor and get it checked before its too late!

did it ever go away?

I also fell down a flight of stairs 2 years ago and had a huge hematoma and fractured tail bone and now I have a long deep dent across my right butt cheek,  to this day it still throbs now and then. My doctor also told me it would go away but never did, so know I wear long type shirts to hide my butt. My insurance won't cover any cosmetic surgery. So I am just trying to live with a deformed behind. Good luck to all

Hi all, 18 years ago, I fell and hit the point of a cement block outside a house. To say it hurt was an understatement! Black, blue, green and yellow were my colors for months. Doctor said I broke my "a*s*" - nothing he could do. Over the years, had x-rays, MRI's and most recently had an MRI 7/2014. Have seen orthopedic, neurologists - nothing they could do - said it was muscle pain. Steroid injections help but don't last long. Going to the spine doctor on Monday for results. We already know my L1-L2 is fussy but hey at 62 years old - not complaining. The worse part is this area gets inflammed if I take a long car ride (even with many stops) and I feel like I can't stand up and it's like a numbing pain - steroids by mouth fixes that but can't live on that forever right! We'll see what this mri shows on Monday - will let you all know.

Hi Guest, I just posed below. Same thing 18 years ago - fell on the point of a cement block - OMG! My entire body shook. I hit the right cheek - dent, black, blue, yellow and green for months! No doctor MRI x-rays reveal anything. Took an MRI last week and going back to total spine docotr Monday for results. Steroid injections help, oral steroids fix the inflammation but every day I live with the dull ache. I go to chiropractor every week for relief - can't overdue anything - after cleaning the house I have to take Alleve. I'll let you know the results Monday ok?

Keep in touch.
