What did your doctor say?? I have the exact same injury, same exact spot. The indent just appeared two days ago and I am freaking out! It shows through my clothes and is about 4 inches wide. I thought falling in front of a whole group of people was the most embarrassing part and the. The indent showed up. How do I get rid of it???

If it makes anyone feel better, my story has a happy ending! I fell on icy concrete steps 6 years ago and ended up with a "Grand Canyon" dent on one of my butt cheeks - a dent from where Ianded on the step, directly onto that buttock. The impact pushed the fat to either side of the "canyon" (I also had a world class bruise covering almost rmy entire tush). Well, 6 years later (with no treatment other than patience), I'm happy to say that the dent is almost totally gone. It simply needed time.

Hi Everyone, I am hoping to hear about how someone resolved the lump and dent issue from falling down the stairs. I am going to save you the details as they all seem similar. My fall was almost a year ago and it has not resolved to speak of. PLEASE let me know if you have done a procedure that has given you results on correcting the issue.

Hello, last last december, (2013) i had a very tragic horse riding accident, landing on my right buttock, extremely painful. After weeks of severe bruising on my buttock, the bruises finally faded, but leaving a lump or a sack like thing on my butt!! i went to the doctor after about 6 months, and he said just give it time and it will go, I returned shortly after this visit and the doctor told me it was a "hematoma" I have heard a lot about drainage or plastic surgery, but the whole idea of needles or knifes scare me! if anyone has had similar incidents or suffer from the same thing, PLEASE respond back to me. Id love to know theres someone else out there who suffers from this too and any ideas on how to make the lump fade.

wow- I too had a fall- it's been several weeks- the initial bruise and resulting hematoma was incredibly large- half a water melon- literally - It has reduced in size but is still very prominent- grapefruit size.. I am aggressively icing it, and will talk to my doc this week about drainage- and massage- this scares the c**p out of me- I too am in pretty good shape, and the lump is visible through clothing etc.. ;(

Hey all,
After my motorcycle accident in February 2015 I thought my bump would never go away but after several months it did! After reading stories i thought I was stuck like that but just massage and stretch a lot.. Massaging seems to help most. It'll clear up.. Just takes a while.

I posted in this form a little over a year back about a huge watermelon hematoma that formed on my buttock like a third bum following a nasty motorbike accident back in September 2013 (can't believe it's been in my life that long, urgh..!) I was 22 when the accident happened, am 24 now.
After that I went to physical rehab for about ten months where I got electro and heat therapy as well as constant massages. I'm fortunate that we have a health insurance plan that covers all this, well after about 6 months of physical therapy it actually went down a lot to the point where I could wear Daisy Dukes/tight fitting clothes, and if you didn't look REALLY carefully you wouldn't be able to see it. There is still a slight protruding ledge though that I'm very self conscious about, and an MRI scan showed that, even after two years, there's still some residual liquid left, as well as some newly formed fat tissue, all of which have contributed to this persisting lump.
After multiple consultations with at least 5 different doctors and a lot of soul searching (I really don't fancy having my body cut open), as well a couple of failed relationships (there, I said it as well) I've decided to have plastic surgery to correct it. My surgeon will be using liposuction to get the residual blood/liquids out, as well as the fat that's formed around the fibrosis. I'll have to wear a hip-sculpting outfit for three months after the surgery. He's been very reticent about whether or not my buttock will return completely back to normal, but he is a specialist in this field, and I'm tired of sitting around and waiting for it to go back to normal, and also tired of having to squirm and hide it whenever I'm in bed with someone new. I want my life back, which was really good before this came along, and would still be good if not for this.
In any case I will keep everyone posted on this forum about my progress, and I'm glad to hear about the success stories from people who managed to get their buttock hematoma sorted out. I hope I get mine sorted out as well and I will be sure to keep you all informed of it.

I too was left with a huge bump on my upper right butt after falling down some steps. This happened December 2015. I tried "waiting it out" to see if it would reabsorb on its own. After 2 months, I couldn't wait anymore and my PCP sent me to the hospital to have an ultrasound done. I went in for the procedure and the radiologist looked at it and advised that he could try and drain it. I went in that same day and had it drained. It was done with a local anesthetic and took maybe 20 minutes. After it was over, I could immediately see and feel a difference. The Dr. did say there was a possibility that it could fill up with blood again and advised me to wear compression shorts to help apply pressure to the area to help prevent this. I would highly recommend anyone else having this same problem to not "wait it out" and seek medical attention quickly.

I slipped going down cement steps and my left side upper butt arear landed on edge a month ago. I thought I had broke my back! A large bruise went away after two weeks and noticed the area was itching and swelling. The pain was the worst pain I've ever had. I was forced to lay flat on stomach for a week not moving due to horrific pain. Went to ER and took xray and said hematoma and sent me home. After 5 days I couldn't take the pain and went to a different ER. Took ct scan and I had to lay on my back for it! Thought I was gonna die from pain! Sent me to a surgeon who said it was size ofhalf a football. Stuck needles in and drained blood. That was Monday. Here it is sat. and its swelling back up with long dent that is hard. I'm a housekeeper and its hard having to work in this pain! Guess have to get drained again.
