Thanks so much. I try and not take anything because Zyrtec makes me so tired! That's the only thing that's helps that I have found. Mine happens the same ways, when I exercising, get hot, working around the house, pulling weeds. I hate it! The flare up hurts and is unexplainable!!

Allegra 12 hr or 24 hr dosage works . Takes about 45 mins. and the hive welts are gone. Seems to occur in time clusters due to heat and clothing tightness. Appears in “ lines” and also bilateral areas where I sit. Very weird. But I’m an allergic person anyway. I like to stay away from cortisone . My dermatologist told me to use Allegra ( usually used for upper respiratory symptoms ) and it’s been an amazing answer. Try it !!

Very informative. I started this DPU after reacting to pepper. I think it was how the peppercorns have been processed. Just getting a reaction on the inside if my nostril from blowing my nose. I try and sleep on my hands as well. I have had to get a ring cut off due to swelling. I can deal with the welts, but the itchy ankles and undersoles of my feet can drive me crazy. I wish I did not get any swellings on my face, but can go a few weeks fine, and then it is back. I usually just carry an epipen and take Benadryl. This is going onto three years for me now. Very frustrating and I am at the point that I no longer worry. However, I watch what I wear, and avoid sandals on my feet.

After suffering with DPU for 20 years, I was diagnosed with H Pylori. After taking the meds and testing H Pylori free, I am DPU FREE for almost a year now. I cannot begin to tell you how much better my life is!

Reading these stories are quite distressing. It look so like some people have it much worse than others with this urticaria. I suffered from it for about 2 years and couldn't find any cause although I have a hypothesis that it may be gallbladder related. As years after I ve been having some gallbladder back pain. I also started eating red meat for the first time around the time they started and was under a lot of stress. I didn't need to take any Ned's as they would appear right after pressure and and stay maybe 20 min max and were light. Then they just went away for some reason after I quit gluten. I still have itchy skin if there is hard prolonged pressure on it but that goes away within 5-10 min. Again the theory here is that it's gut related, rather leaky gut or inflammation of sorts. Hope this helps someone.

Hello, I believe this is now happening to me. This started happening the weekend of Thanksgiving and while I have been two two dermatology offices, had a cortisone injection, and on my second does of Prenisone, I am still experiencing this problem, and seems to occur more severe throughout the day. I am not on a 10 day cleanse and drinking lots of water. This just came out of nowhere and has basically ruined my Christmas. I believe I have the same thing you have because they go away at night, but occur as the cold air hits me. I am also currently having acupuncture treatment. If this is now one thing I have to manage in my life, I just want them to subside somehow. I do suffer from minor anxiety, so I am sure that is not help and also stress from work. But if you state exercising really helps, I am no stranger to exercise and will try to do more of it. Thank you bebe01

I have had DPU for 50 years. There is no cure but I have noticed that flare ups coincide with getting over an infection. This is unfortunately a double whammy , just getting better when you swell up. It is unpredictable and unpleasant.

I have this, too, and it was making me miserable. I went to the best doctors/immunologists in Washington, DC, but they didn't suggest the simple combination of medication that has helped me keep this awful condition at bay. I read about it on a board like this one. I take a daily claritin and a daily zantac. NOT Zyrtec, but Zantac. Used for stomach acid reduction, it is actually a histamine blocker. When you take it with claritin, you then have 1 H1 Blocker and 1 H2 Blocker and they were in combination. So 10 mg claritin, 150 mg Zantac once a day. Both over the counter and together, they have been a miracle for me.
