I have been on the depo shot since I was 14. I was due for my last shot April of 2010. I am just now having regular periods for the last six months. Before I would bleed one momth and be off for two. Reading some of the previous comments have scared me really. I also read that it is advised that the shot not be used for more than two years and I have used it for four years plus. I am really worried that I can not have children. My nurse told me that it took her two years to get pregnant. I have tried everything from using a period tracker but with everything being thrown off wac the way that it is I am discouraged and afraid.....advice woud be nice

My daughter, Brittney, just got off the depo shot and she has been on it a little over 2 years. Another doctor told her that no one should be on the depo shot for more than two years. The doctor gave her some pills for five days to help start her period back, but nothing.

Have you started back up? If so, how long did it take?

Hi I was on birth control four 4 years because I had really bad periods. My whole high school years was on depo. I jus stop senior year last year and I got my period within 6 months after even though I was on it for so long. It jus depends on how long your body takes to recover

I took the depo shot probably 3 times consecutively, and my period vanished. When I decided to go off Depo (10 years ago), my period came back, and it came back STRONG! I bleed for 3 months straight, EVERY SINGLE DAY!!! My husband and I have been trying to have a baby for 7 months now and no such luck : (    I also took plan B 4 times in my life. First one was at 15, and the last one was at 19. I wonder if these two things has made me infertile?? Im 29.

Hi. My name is Deslie. I am 18 years old. When I was taken away from my dad I went into CPS and got the depo shot in January of 2011. I went three months and never got my period. I got another shot and after 3 months I bled for 2 weeks straight. Since then I've probably have had 6 periods. Some are painful and only last for 3 to 4 days and others don't hurt at all and last 3-4 days. I am getting married this October and my fiance is 10 years older than me. He wants a baby bad and I'm scared that I can't give it to him. I've had clean sex with all my partners. No std's. Have been tested almost everytime because I have never used a condom on any of them. I haven't gotten pregnant. And I started having sex when I was 15. I want a baby. I have sex with my fiance at least once a day. We try and try. I've even tried to stop trying to see if it will happen on its own but it hasn't. I've read stories and facts online and I feel like my chances of having a baby remain only in my dreams. I need advice. I need help. I need hope.

I tried depo one time in 2003 and now in 2013 I have never conceived. I have maybe 4-5 cycles a year and even hemorrage sometimes. My cycles are extremely irregular and once went 6 months with no period (and wasn't prego) come to find out I have a hormone imbalance (pituitary related, which is what depo suppresses so you don't have monthly cycles) and polycystic ovarian syndrome. Before that one injection, my periods were like clockwork. Women, you have periods once a month for a reason. I even have bad mood swings and low sex drive and I'm in my late 20s. Now to conceive, I have to see a fertility specialist. But that's just me.

Can anyone tell me roughly how long it will take me to conceive after coming off my injection? I came off birth control last month, and I was only on it for two months.
