Hi! I don’t know much about herbs but I hear it is sued in prostatitis to build up the immune system.

Are you taking any supplements-mineral and vitamins? You could use vitamins A, E, C and beta-carotene as well as Zinc Picolinate.
Have you heard of healing powers of cranberry juice in prostatitis to prevent bacteria from going into the bladder and possibly getting rid of the harmful bacteria?
Also, you could try hot tubs. Fill your tub with hot water and sit in it for about 15 min. This improves circulation in the prostate?

How’s your work going? Are you managing or did you take some more days off. I can see you don’t feel so good at the moment.

Thanks Bobby

Tried the Acidophuls again last night and was okay, maybe just the initial reaction.
I tried cranberry juice but it gave me terrible stomach aches, so I have opted for cranberry extract 500mg tab per day with water to try and control the re occurence of uti, it seems to suit me better.

So at the moment I am taking the above plus garlic tab one a day which I beleive may help and Echinacea tinicture.

I will have a look at your recommendations to get some more vitamins into my daily routine.

I feel like a pill head at the moment but if it works so what

I am coping at work and trying to keep focused with positive thoughts only when I can

Your support is very much appreciated as it is difficult to discuss with anyone who does not understand.

Many many thanks
and best regards

Hi All

Well 30 days on meds now, I am concerned that I still basically feel the same. My left testicle is painful most of the time and what concerns me more is the tip of my penis just does not seem right, to the left it has a small darkish red area and looks and feels very sore, but under the skin if you know what I mean. The tip is painful all the time there is no rest.

Should I go and see my Doctor before my next urologist appointment at the end of March.

I do not think the meds are working, am I expecting too much too soon?

Well, I think you expect too much for so short therapy period :-(

Anyway, your urologist should know about your current condition. Maybe some meds are not responsive for your metabolism. I think you should make a phone call and consult with your urologist.

Of course, you should control your diet and the therapy should be very exact and you should obey everything that your doc prescribed. If you do it that way, and you still feel uncomfortable, just talk to your doc.

However, the prostatitis therapy is not only one month therapy. It's the future life style. Everything will be different and you must accept it to get cured.

Take care!

hello everyone,

I actually was diagnosed with prostatitis a few days ago and am only 20 years old as well... They say it's uncommon for people our age to have it, but maybe not? I think mine could've been causes 2 ways: from lifting weights while having a full bladder, which forced urine into my prostate or from a lower back injury (a herniated disc, which i am seeing a doctor now to see if i have one). Could these two be valid causes of prostatitis? My doctor didn't prescribe any medication and said it would go away on its own. Any replies would be appreciated.

I was recently diagnosed with prostatitis as well, I am 21 years old and my doctor was under the impression that It was due to taking too much creatine over a extended period of time without drinking enough water. The problem here is I drink tons of water as recomended on the label. Doc perscribed me Cipro 500 mg however I havent started them yet due to another med im on for bronchitis. Could this be caused from drinking to much alcohol over an extended period of time or lack of nutrients in the body? Im just lost of where this came from and kinda tired of feeling the urge to take a leak all the time...

I'm 22 now, but first started having prostatitis symptoms at 20. One day I randomly started to have a urgent need to urinate, so I went ahead and pissed but then the feeling never went away basically. 24/7 I feel like I need to pee its horrible. I've been on doxy, cipro, and levaquin. Doxy made me feel cured for 2 days then symptoms came back. Cipro did nothing for me. Levaquin made me feel cured for a few days then it came back. ***be weary of Levaquin.. the stuff f**ks u up***

I've taken all different kinds of prostate vitamins with no success either. Its been over 2 years now.. I guess I've sort of just started to live with it. I started to smoke marijuana to deal with the pain and stress.. it helps me but I really wish I could be sober now.. but It really is that stressful.. and I'm sure everyone on here can agree with me that no one understands us.. I look fine, I can get up and walk so people think it can't be that bad... I lost my girlfriend of 5 years over this.. It makes me an irritated short tempered person.. and it ruined our relationship..

I've gotten desperate enough to try the peroxide up the urethra but could not get it down far enough to reach the prostate (it burned too bad)

I'm researching that chinese unblocking treatment.. but it looks like a f*****g scam, but a scam where they stick needles through your perineum!

I'm thinking about doing Levaquin again.. but for 2 months or maybe more.. i dunno, see if it kills me first.. the stuff is poison

oh and YES i've had cystocopy, i've had prostatic fluid cultures.. the whole 9.. cystoscopy showed my prostate to be very inflamed.

I've had doctors tell me my prostate fluid was clear, and I've had doctors tell me it had bacteria in it..

Thats another reason ive sorta lost faith in the urologists.. at my job we work on motorcycles and when a certain type comes in we dont like working on we always say to eachother "AHH MANN, I f*****g HATE THESE"...thats how I feel the urologists feel like when a prostatitis patient walks in.

I wish the government could spend just a few million of the TRILLIONS we spend to figure this out for us..

Hey Guys. I know that all the prior posts are old but I've been suffering from this for about 4 months now. I took cipro 500mg twice a day for 45 days but it did nothing. When they initially diagnosed me. Doc did my prostate exam, it was a little swollen. Had a cytosopy done 2 weeks ago and doc said everything looked normal. Told me to stop taking the cipro. He pretty much told me to give it time because there's nothing much he could do. It's frustrating because I get pain in my penis area and my urethra is always pink and my glands i feel a slight burning sensations. I've been to the urologist 4 different times. Maybe I need a second opinion. I work 16 hour days, 70 hour weeks. I sit all day... I walk around as much as possible. Last week I was fine all week. Then Monday it slowly came back. I don't know what else to do.

Just want to share my story, might feel good to vent.  I first developed prostatitis about 6 years ago, at the age of 28.  Since then, it has been an ongoing problem.  My last 5 months have been a living hell.  I was actually diangosed with acute prostatitis, I was running a fever and everything.  I was given 20 days of cipro.  It seemed to help, but several weeks later it came back.  I went to my GP instead of urologist.  My GP did the dreaded digital exam.  He then had me urinate.  It came back positive for bacteria.  I was given 20 more days of cipro.  While on Cipro things seemed better, but 3 weeks later it was back.  My symptoms include painful urination, frequent (if not always) need to go, back pain, testicle pain, and my glans has been sore and tender for about 6 month.  I can relate to every person on this board, just know you're not alone.  I'm a fit, athletic guy, and I'm only 34.  I tell my doctor I was hoping I could at least hold off for another 10-15 years before these types of problems.  Good luck guys.
