Hi to all. i was just wondering if anybody here can share some ideas bout my delimma this days.
i dont have cough, but when i do especilly when i am sleeping, i have difficulty in breathing..and if in between i burp..i am relieved with coughing and breathing problem. after that once i am relieved...i dont get attack anymore.
i seek medical help and diagnosed with asthma and was given with antibiotics, seretide (1 puff 2 times a day), predisone and ventolin. until now i do the seretide but i still have the attack although not everyday. im a bit confuse because i dont have asthma since 6years old.
i was thinking that this might be GERD...but im having a 2nd thought because i dont feel pain either in my stomach or chest. its just that everytime i got this urge to cough, the next thing is i coudlnt breath..grasping for air..once i burp..i am relieved.
this attack even give me fear to sleep..thinking that i might be attacked again..
please help..i am planning to seek medical help again ti either a pulmonary expert or an ENT. which is the best??
thanks everyone and kind regards
Shawee
You are probably right to suspect GERD. I've had all the tests from heart to lungs, gallbladder and more. The clue that symptoms are relieved by burping is important. Strong mint tea after eating, eating slowly, and chewing more than you think neccessary all seem to help. Relax _ stress makes this all worse! It sometimes helps to increase bowel movements by eating greens, salads, etc. Drinking lots of water helps too, but try to be aware when eating or drinking if you are swallowing air; you can train yourself not to. Good wishes!
