My daughters eyes are Brown and her pupils get big when she is upset or really happy so I font believe it has anything to f o with the color.

I always have dilated pupils (except in bright lights and sunshine), except my eyes are brown. Perhaps the common link is not blue eyes?

Was told that dilated pupils means you are very sensitive to sunlight my granddaughter has them and optometrist told her she must wear sunnies all the time when she is outside

Dilated pupils are the cause of being sensitive to light because they allow too much light to get in.

I also have huge pupils, and I do have blue eyes also and many of my friends at school tell me that my eyes change color from light blue to grey to green to dark blue to light blue with speckles. And my family thinks there is something wrong but I don't think there is! It usually happens after I eat, but other times the are just naturally big.

I have the same condition. People ask me if I'm on drugs or a vampire a lot (haha). My doctor told me that it is genetic; apparently huge pupils helped our ancestors hunt at night. So, some people just have that condition. If it does not impair your vision, then don't worry about it.

I have had very large pupils my whole life, I'm 38 now. My pupils do constrict in bright light but not nearly as small as what a "normal" persons eyes might do.  I am healthy and do not take any drugs.  My only sibling, a brother, also has similar large pupils.  We both have blue eyes.  I am guessing that my pupil size is genetic, but have always been curious about it. I have a six year old daughter and her pupils look very large too, her eyes blue as well. Like others have noted, I am very sensitive to bright sunlight and have trouble seeing at night while driving with traffic headlights coming in opposite direction shining toward me.  I also have high IQ and it seems as though my daughter will too as she gas already been recommended for the "gifted and talented" program at her school. A big downside to large pupils is other people asking me if I do drugs.  It gets frustrating especially in work/professional settings. As a teenager, I was pulled over by police a couple times for speeding and always asked if I had been doing drugs. Frustrating!  I am near-sighted and would like to have lasik done, but doctors say my pupils are too large and cannot have surgery. Bummer

I've always had larger pupils then most people and people have often asked me did I take something, I recently went to a new opticians and the woman told me I could of just been born with larger pupils and it just makes my eyes more sensitive to light

My daughter too as well. But I figured that maybe since I had some uses with methamphetamine in the early months of pregnancy that could have caused it, but I'm beginning to think otherwise. She has had dialated eyes since birth too. I looked at her eyes just the other day in normal light they are huge! She has beautiful bluish green eyes but i dont think she has a problem with her eyes and infact she loves to read and is a top student in he grade. So maybe she could have more dopamine in her body.

I'm not sure if anyone still checks this but I am 21 years old and ever since I was a kid I had this problem with my pupils. My parents would always ask me why my pupils were so big, now constantly I have people asking me because they think I am doing drugs. I do not do any drugs or drink alcohol. I notice that they seem to be dilated more often (with me noticing not even anyone else) when I am working out regularly. I think it may have to do with the amount of dopamine or serotonin being produced by our brains. I want to say that we just naturally produce more than other people and active kids and adults are producing more on top of that. I just want to say I am perfectly normal and I am very smart and doing very well in my pre-med program in college so if you can't get any answers with the doctor maybe this will help you to feel better about it. But I would absolutely recommend taking a look at the brain. I don't know which is the best in this case, if its a PET, MRI or what but you need to be sure its not a tumor or anything wrong with the brain. Oh, and I also have perfect vision. Hope this helps
