I always have dilated pupils (except in bright lights and sunshine), except my eyes are brown. Perhaps the common link is not blue eyes?
Dilated pupils are the cause of being sensitive to light because they allow too much light to get in.
Lies and its not true
I have had very large pupils my whole life, I'm 38 now. My pupils do constrict in bright light but not nearly as small as what a "normal" persons eyes might do. I am healthy and do not take any drugs. My only sibling, a brother, also has similar large pupils. We both have blue eyes. I am guessing that my pupil size is genetic, but have always been curious about it. I have a six year old daughter and her pupils look very large too, her eyes blue as well. Like others have noted, I am very sensitive to bright sunlight and have trouble seeing at night while driving with traffic headlights coming in opposite direction shining toward me. I also have high IQ and it seems as though my daughter will too as she gas already been recommended for the "gifted and talented" program at her school. A big downside to large pupils is other people asking me if I do drugs. It gets frustrating especially in work/professional settings. As a teenager, I was pulled over by police a couple times for speeding and always asked if I had been doing drugs. Frustrating! I am near-sighted and would like to have lasik done, but doctors say my pupils are too large and cannot have surgery. Bummer
i have blue eyes and my pupils are nearly always dilated, there's some kind of pattern with this blue eye thing
