I'm having the same experience, except no cramping when I had it inserted or after. I absolutely love it so far!!

I only felt a tiny pinch when I had it inserted, and that was from the cervix clamp.

Thank you cali girl and guest. I have the same symptoms. I just had sex for the first time after paragard insertion. Two days after i hsd extreme extreme yellow discharge. I researched and determined it could be bv. It makes sense because the copper iud changes the accidity of your vagina and bv is an acidic imbalance. I am on vacation and unable to be tested but plan to first thing monday to rule out any stds. In the mean time I'm trying apple cider vinegar baths taking a probiodic and have tried virumin c insertion. (Google it worth trying it has helped so far for me)

Hi I wanted to ask you.... if have been having the same slimy discharge only when I pee and wipe with pretty good amount of cramping. Did your doctor ever say why this is normal? I have had my paragard going on 2 years this coming Friday. I have been really considering having mine removed.

I too have found the same issue with Paragard. I have never had an order problem, and no matter what I do since I've had Paragard inserted I have discharge and order. I no longer have insurance, and went to the hospital to check things out. I was told the device has drooped and is know partial in my cervix. The hospital will not remove, and referred doctors will not return my calls. I can't feel the strings to remove myself or I would. I want this out of me as, I can't bare the smell or order. Any suggestions as to how I can have removed without healht insurance. I am also low income which makes it very hard to afford a doctor visit, let alone the cost that may come with removing the device. I also bleed very heavily, and when I have intercourse.

Has the smell gone away? I experienced the same issue, got it removed and it's been 3 cycles without the IUD but the disgusting odor persists. I am so afraid it will never go away. ):

Did you remove it? Did the smell go away? I had it removed a couple of months ago and the smell is still an issue. ):

HEY! I also have an iud and am having this exact issue! (mine is non hormonal) BUT! I found a solution! Or at least it works for me. I use apple cider vinegar and distilled water as a douche sounds crazy I know. But ladies it works. It fixes the ph of your private area. You can also insert yes I said insert probiotics (use the capsule that dissolves and in the morning rinse so you make sure there is no more capsule left (it will cause an infection if it stays and sometimes they don't completely dissolve) Now to figure out why I have brown discharge still at the beginning of period....My guess is that it gets held up there longer because of the iud so it takes my spotting longer to escape and builds up.

So glad I'm not the only one I've had the paragard for 5yrs and haven't been able to figure out what's going on down there other than this. I recently started an odor and have been having discharge for three. This obviously is causing these issues that I didn't have before. I'm definitely thinking about removing so I don't have this issue anymore. I'm sooo over it.

I'm a 38 yo female and have had a child. I got mine inserted 10 months ago. Loves but the last 3 months I have had really strange periods. Starts off with light pinkish discharge then after 2 days it's really heavy and I bleed for 7 to 10 days. The last two months after my period this terrible odour developed like thrush fishy smell(sorry to be so gross). I even tried to put natural plain no sugar yogurt on a pad to help thinking it was a yeast infection but again this month it's a bad smell and terrible discharge. Hubby has been away for two months so thank goodness we haven't had intercourse but dreading the smell then. I don't do well with hormones and though this was a great option and ulternative, but starting to think all the bad stuff remains behind the iud and the smell is just hideous. I'm thinking of having it removed and might have to go back into the pill. Ps thank you all for sharing I'm glad I'm. It the only one going through this. Good luck with your choices

Im 43 and a yr with Paragard. My concern at first was that my periods are super light. No discharge yet, no odor yet, no pain yet. But now Im scared that will happen to me soon.

Hi guys so I've had the paragard for a few weeks. Never had a cramp in my life and got it just before my period so the cramps were so bad I'd pass out. But again my body never experienced cramps before so it was too much for my first time. I took Motrin every six hours(even during my sleep time) to lessen the pain. I even had days where I couldn't go into work and couldn't walk due to back pain making my legs give out so it was literally debilitating. My period only lasted five days though and wasn't too heavy but I never had much of a period in the first place due to a hormonal imbalance. Nowww I was experiencing this yellow discharge that made me feel like I'm peeing out of my vag. I've been wearing liners so I was relieved to find I'm not the only one! I do agree with another member that the device keeps us from secreting eeeverything from our uterus such as period blood and semen if you're not pulling out. SO Listen up guys! I figured out how to just try and make things flow out a bit faster to avoid the yellow discharge and masterbate once a day. I've also noticed a better balance of my mood throughout the day. More energy and now on day three of no discharge!! I understand some may not be able to try this due to religious reasons but one could think of it more as a medical need. Id love to know if this works for others!
