When I was 15 (2005) I developed a 6 inch cyst on my right ovary. Yes, I was told 6 inches! The doctor told me I had two options, surgery or birth control. He recommended birth control first. Being the less expensive option, I went with the birth control. I was told of all the kinds available and that depo had best results with getting rid of ovarian cysts. I agreed to try the shot.
The depo shot did work. My cyst went away after just a few weeks. I was recommended to stay on it to prevent more cyst from developing.
I 2009 I stated dating my now husband. We married in October of 2013 and stopped getting the depo shot right around that same time. I was told it can take months to a year to get your period back. I was on the shot for nearly 9 years, (8 1/2 ish).
As of now I have had a few very light periods lasting a couple days (more like spotting) and only 2 or 3 regular periods after coming off the shot. However, there is NO consistency. They were months apart or back-to-back with just a few days in between.
Not that we were trying to get pregnant, we were just not doing anything to be careful either. This made me nervous because 2 years of not being careful I had not got pregnant.
In the late spring of 2015 I heard about an herbal supplement pill called Wobenzym N from Garden of Life. I have taken two pills twice a day since then. My periods have not completely returned but every month the symptoms are regulating to he same week. The bloating, cramps, etc. Last month I had a normal period. I am a few days from when I am suppose to start again. And I feel like s*** haha. So things are looking good! My husband an I still still are NOT taking an measures to NOT get pregnant. Meaning,...fingers crossed!!! lol
I would highly recommend the use of Wobenzym N to anyone who has been on the birth control shot Depo Provera! It's not a crazy expensive supplement and from what I can tell its working!!! Read about it. It does take time for this natural pill to work. Less than a year after starting Wobenzym N I have hope that my husband and I will be able to have kids.

I had the same 7 easy healthy pregnancies now a year later after depo, 3 early miscarriages.

I'm in the same situation as you was put on the shot at 17 and now 31 and still unable to conceive. Was given different fertility meds and nothing has worked. I was also told off the record of course depo was to blame

I also agree. I've been trying for 7 years now and have been off the depo shot for 8 years now and didn't have a cycle for for 2 years. I have been diagnosed now with PCOS and endometriosis which I didn't have before the depo shot because I have a 10 year old son. I find it crazy to see that I'm not the only one who feels it's not just a coincidence!!

I took the depo shots 3 times when I was 17 at the health department so my parents wouldn't find out. After I stopped getting the shot I grow a bunch of facial hair so I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with PCOS. I never had the facial hair before the depo shot and I'm the only one in the family with PCOS and infertility.

Me too. Started it at 14. Diagnosed later with PCOS. One miscarriage. High testosterone, little to no progesterone...same story.

Hello, I think we need to do some research to find out if depo is responsible for us having pcos. If so we need to sue, because pcos has made a horrible impact in my life.

I was on the depo injections for years as a teen. I have had an extensive history of infertility issues. I was diagnosed with PROS and later Antiphosplipid antibody syndrome. No one else in my immediate or extended family suffers from these conditions although they are thought to be heredity. I had one doctor who suggested it might be related to thr depo shot. I have 1 child who is here by lots of medical intervention and the grace of God. These drug companies are fugly aware of how harmful their products are and they think the good outweighs the bad...but try telling that to the people they have taken motherhood from after using their product. We spent more in fertility treatments and tears than we did on the shot.

I AGREE!!! I wish I had never taken that shot. I've never been the same, and no one in my family had ever had PCOS. I too believe the Depo shot caused the PCOS...

This is what happened to me I was always fit and I ran track in high school and now I'm over 200 lbs and for the life of me can NOT lose weight. I wasn't diagnosed with PCOS until recently but I wasn't having regular doctor visits either so it went undiagnosed and (shamefully) I didn't have a period for 2 years or go to the doctors about it. Now my husband and I are trying for a baby and I've taken fertility meds (going on 3 years) and still no ovulation.

I dont know if you are still trying to get pregnant and havent succeeded but I just got put on depo and the first thing they told me was that when I go off it could take up to 6 years to get pregnant after going off depo or more depending on how long you had it. I say just continue trying and Im sure youll get pregnant soon

I took one shot last summer (I was 22), and it made very sick and very violent, I got off that and went to the pill, which also made me sick, for 3 months. I have now been off all birth control for about 4 months, and my periods are still extremely painful, irregular, and very heavy. They also tend to last for more than 4 days. Before depo, I was never this moody, and I didn't anger as easily. I also didn't have all the digestive issues I have had since. I haven't not tried to get pregnant, but I can tell you one thing, and that is that the more I read about depo, the more I feel it should be a banned substance!

I got on the depo shot after I had already and a son and suffered form a miscarriage. I was going through a lot then got off got pregnant almost right away had a stillborn with lots of complications. After that got back on for almost 4 years and then got off for me and my fiancé to try for another. We have been having lots of troubles and pregnancy just isn't happening. My periods have not been normal since I got off the shot. I was on it for almost 8 years off and on. I have asked numerous doctors if the depo could be the cause of this and each one claims NO. I have never had an issue becoming pregnant before and neither has my fiancé. We have gone through lots of testing and found out I have sever scar tissue and I believe the depo is the biggest reason!! I do not recommend getting it for birth control and seems to have ruined a lot of peoples fertility!!
