I am also learning of this. I was forced into Depo Provera by my parents and doctor at the age of 14 & remained on it until another doctor warned me about the long-term effects it could have on my bone density at the age of 19. At the time I was put on Depo I was not told of any adverse side effects outside of weight gain, irregular periods, and mood changes. I've been off birth control all together since I was 21 and have been trying to conceive. I'm now 25 and nothing. I feel like my hormones are so messed up and I am so worried about being infertile that I can't even bring myself to go to a doctor. I have considered suing the makers of Depo, my physician, and parents because I do not feel like I was able to give informed consent.

I took depo for 9 years , and then got off of it it almost three years for my cycle to get regular and I can’t get pregnant.. so despite what they say ... I believe depo does cause infertility! I begged my Gyn to take me off it but because my periods were so bad she refused it was awful

I'm sorry to read this. I took depo after I was told I had HPV at a free clinic (that I would have for life) and cancerous cells on cervix at 21 in 2004. Many surgeries and gaining 80 lbs I got off it after having my period for 68 days in 2005.

I do not have HPV today, and gynos say I have no scarring despite all the surgeries and biopsies. I'm 36 with 2 failed marriages from not being able to conceive, and both ex impregnated their mistress. I have not used bc and my fiance got his vasectomy reversed 10 years after getting it and his guys are swimming and ready to go. The doctors refuse to give any acknowledgment to my past being with very fertile men, me confirmed ovulating and after several years of serious trying with no implantation. I feel I have been pregnant, had false positives only to have what I believe are chemical pregnancies as I don't believe the fertilized egg can implant due to my past depo experience i felt I was strong armed into with no real info. I pains me that this blog has confirmed my worst nightmare that I will never be a bio mom. The only thing I ever wanted and drs treat me like I'm nuts when I bring it up.

I was on Depo from the age of 14 til 20, my Doctor put me on it simply bc my monthly periods were so bad and so unpredictable. I stayed on it for almost 6 years. Here I am now 18 years later and have never been able to have children. They say depo has nothing to do with it but I definitely do not agree. I am now spending every penny I have to go through IVF with my fiancé but the first round failed, I'll try again in February but if I could go back in time I would have never taken them shots!!!
